[Bug 407692] Re: Icon for Transmission does not suggest the program's purpose

Sorry, Humanity isn't going to fix this problem. As stated before, there

'fix' is going to come, it has to come from upstream. Good luck :D

[Bug 382626] Re: Nautilus location bar toggle icon implies unrelated function

2009-08-02 Thread Daniel Fore
I'm going to have to go with Kalle and say that the real solution is to
redesign the location bar. Also, I'm going to have to say that this
papercut is not a bug in any icon set, but with nautilus. You can't
change the icon without affecting other apps that use that icon
properly.

[Bug 488129] Re: Nautilus usability

2009-12-01 Thread Daniel Fore
@Stephan

Try reading the response again ;) It's hard for developers to track big
lists of problems like this. He's asking if you could file each request
as a separate bug report. That'll make it easier for the developers to
go about implementing these features/fixes.

Also, if you really want to speed up development, you should contact the
Nautilus developers directly and present them with these problems.
Unfortunately, the GNOME developers don't use launchpad for their bug
tracking. So, the people working on the Papercuts project have to end up
refiling a lot of these bugs "upstream" (where the GNOME developers
are). This takes time and could mean that your bugs go unnoticed to
these developers.

2009-12-01 Thread Daniel Fore
I know, it could be better. And that's a good idea about splitting up
the bugs automatically! Maybe you should file that one against launchpad
;)

Yes, it would be nice if you submitted these again individually.

Papercuts isn't necessarily the *wrong* place to file these bugs. But,
it would be helpful to file directly against Nautilus upstream to it's
developers.

I don't believe it would be the correct decision in this case to "do what

This is not a bug. This is a purposeful design decision. The icon is at

Sebastian, to completely clear: we ARE talking with Nautilus Upstream.
We ARE collaborating on certain features. They ARE NOT interested in our
entire feature set. If you like I can forward you Allan's summary of the
discussion that we've been having with upstream over the past few weeks.

I don't appreciate you making a statement like "it's not recommended to
use it". We've been working extremely hard to build a better Nautilus
and have specifically made it highly accessible to the Ubuntu user. This
is like saying that it's not recommended to use Unity over Gnome Shell.
These are different projects with different views on how to solve the
same problem.

[Bug 436625] Re: [karmic] No 32x32 places icons in Humanity icon theme

2009-10-22 Thread Daniel Fore
Jaroslav:

I'm sorry you are so upset. This bug has been marked as Confirmed.
However, it is not of critical importance and even if we fixed it at
this very moment, it would NOT go into Karmic (which is way past artwork
freeze).

We are working to scale EVERY icon in EVERY size. But please be patient
with us on this. If you would like to contribute to the project, you are
more than welcome. As long as your work is passable, we'll merge it in.
But, getting angry about this won't do you any good.

What I believe that mac_v's intention was to find out just how important
scaling these icons are. Right now, we're making sure we solve
everything within the default behavior before we move onto things that
are not within the default.

[Bug 436625] Re: [karmic] No 32x32 places icons in Humanity icon theme

2009-10-22 Thread Daniel Fore
Jaroslav:

Please respect the CoC. We are not your enemies here. What you have to
realize is that this theme is a community effort. We are not being paid
by Canonical to work in this theme. So, if it is our choosing, we don't
have to do anything. You are making a request, please treat it as such
and respect our requests.

No, this would not make it into Karmic. It's been made very clear that
unless it is a very critical bug there will not be any more updates to
Humanity in Karmic until after release. In addition, this will not
affect the majority of users who will stay with the 48px icons.

I don't understand why you are so upset about this. Two of Three
developers have already told you it will be fixed and the one developer
who was willing to fix it right now just wanted some clarification so
that he could understand the problem.

[Bug 1890924] Re: Location services work with location services off, 20.04

2021-03-15 Thread Daniel Fore
I installed GeoClue 2.5.6-0ubuntu1.1 from proposed including the dev and
demo packages. I cannot confirm that this fixes the issue as described
in the test case above using the where-am-i demo and Pantheon's polkit
agent

I then tried with GNOME Maps both from deb packaging and from Flatpak
and both were able to access my location while location services were
disabled

I also tried using the agent demo from geoclue-2-demo, and both where-
am-i and GNOME maps were able to access location without permission
while location services were marked disabled

[Bug 1915315] [NEW] Add elementary Files to AppArmor profiles

2021-02-10 Thread Daniel Fore
Public bug reported:

Currently there some exceptions in the apparmor profiles for common file
browsers, but this list does not include elementary Files:

```
  # 'Show Containing Folder' (LP: #1022962)
  /usr/bin/nautilus Cx -> sanitized_helper, # Gnome
  /usr/bin/pcmanfm Cx -> sanitized_helper,  # LXDE
  /usr/bin/krusader Cx -> sanitized_helper, # KDE
  /usr/bin/thunar Cx -> sanitized_helper,   # XFCE
```

We're currently patching this in:

```
  /usr/bin/io.elementary.files Cx -> sanitized_helper, # Pantheon
```

Would be great if it was included upstream! :)

[Bug 688790] Re: Wrong width in elementary/panel/22/system-shutdown-panel.svg

2010-12-10 Thread Daniel Fore
This is not a bug. It's intentional. I've chosen to only support the
indicator applet for panel icons. In this way, the spacing between panel
icons can be uniform.

[Bug 1300046] Re: ia32-libs and more are missing sometimes

2015-05-24 Thread Daniel Fore

"The ia32-libs package was a hack to get 32-bit packages installed on a
64-bit installation. Since Ubuntu version 11.10 (Oneiric), Multi Arch
has been added. One of the objectives for it is removing the ia32-libs
package. Instead, you have to install the 32-bit libraries of a package

sudo apt-get install package-name:i386"
