Thanks a lot for trying to solve this issue Savvas. I know how to deal with gettext templates. I downloaded software-sources-075.1 (from karmic repo) source package and tried to examine the code. I really dont know much about Python, but I found some errors in SoftawarePropertiesKDE.py, for example to have the "Add source" dialog translated i had to modify those lines (653) : text = _('Enter the complete APT line of the repository that you want to add as sourceThe APT line includes the type, location and components of a repository, for example "%s".') % example text=utf8(text) There's also a problem in this file with translate-widget functions but I really don't understand how this could work. [Bug 194436] Re: Encountered a section with no Package: header
The only thing I've noticed in those translations is two ’ (instead of ') in 3dchess description. I've changed this string yesterday in Launchpad. [Bug 135613] Re: Framebuffer consoles no not work in gutsy
I can confirm this bug on Gutsy. I'm using a nividia FX5700 with nvidia driver. It seems that the fbcon module is not loaded by initramfs. [Bug 129910] Re: tty[1-6] are active but display nothing in Gutsy
According Ben collins comment in bug #120747 vesafb is now built into the kernel. [Bug 129910] Re: tty[1-6] are active but display nothing in Gutsy
I forgot to mention that when I remove the conditional loading of fbcon module and rebuild my initramfs with 'sudo update-initramfs -u', my framebuffer console works again and the device /dev/fb0 is actually created (with vga=791 in GRUB options). But it's probably a dirty hack... [Bug 139141] Re: Gutsy: Firefox fails to load, yellow window with rubbish
I don't think this is a Firefox issue. I'm using Kubuntu Gutsy and Firefox (localized in French) and I didn't have this problem. Usually this kind of bug in Firefox is due to incompatible add-ons. You should try to launch Firefox with the command line : firefox -safe-mode It will disable all add-ons. [Bug 135310] Re: "System" -> "Help and support" entry's French translation should be enhanced
I'm agree that in most cases, "support" is an ugly Anglicism and it should be translated by "prise en charge", "gestion", "assistance", depending on the context. But, IMHO, "support" could be acceptable here for these reasons : - menus items have to be short, and it's hard to find something that is not wordy, maybe "aide et soutien"... ; - according to Sebastien "support technique "is commonly used in French, you can consider that's a mistake, but you also can consider that's an evolution of the language ; - in French dictionaries (http://www.cnrtl.fr/lexicographie/support, for instance); this is not the usual meaning of "support", but it used to be (etymology).
