[Bug 574923] [NEW] No boot on new kernet after release upgrade

2010-05-03 Thread Braiam Peguero
Public bug reported:

I recent upgrade my system from 9.10 to 10.04. I'm using the old kernel
to report this lines. When I'm upgrading trough Update Manager (it took
about 4 hours but yet i don't know) i leave alone in the process, when i
return i found a black screen and i think that is the screen saver, when
i move the pad and press some key and doesn't have response i press alt
+ ctrl + f1 to get the tty without responce then press ctrl + alt + del
and again no response then i made a hard off, pressing the power bottom
and restart it, when the grub load i found 4 kernels that is ...-14,
...-20, ...-21 and ...-21 i select the first one ...-21 but only gets
black screen, then trying one by one trough, and get that -20 boot but
without mousepad and the old and new boot splash.

[Bug 574923] Re: No boot on new kernet after release upgrade

2010-05-03 Thread Braiam Peguero
A addition I have the same problem at -20 kernel but is not permanently
a only a incompatibility with the b43-fwcutter package and i found a
workaround changing the brightness of the screen (don't ask how i only
know that it works), with the new kernel say something about mounting
sda4 or like that i will take note later.

I ran about 10 times apt-get update to found out what is happening, "'apt-get
update' does not change any of mtime/ctime/atime of
/var/lib/apt/lists/lock". So we have to found another method to get the apt*
last update, or delete the string of the package that check-it.

I comment out the lines where the date of the last update of apt is
verified at least that the script verifiy on another source like
/var/log/apt/term.log.

2010-01-29 Thread Braiam Peguero
Making the previous comment I realized the solution to the problem and
corrected them immediately. Now uses /var/log/apt/term.log, although I'm
sure that aptitude uses another log file but i dosent found out how to
make that check the last file date. I'll try to investigate further.

[Bug 517145] [NEW] Script did not pass --debconf-ok to ucf on configure

2010-02-04 Thread Braiam Peguero
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ucf

When I run configure on ucf I got this:
*** WARNING: ucf was run from a maintainer script that uses debconf, but
the script did not pass --debconf-ok to ucf. The maintainer
script should be fixed to not stop debconf before calling ucf,
and pass it this parameter. For now, ucf will revert to using
 old-style, non-debconf prompting. Ugh!

Please inform the package maintainer about this problem.

I will try to get the script and runit with the option.

2014-04-20 Thread Braiam Peguero
This error is produced because before the installation you didn't
removed the gnome ppa along with the packages. This is evident since
those package gnome-settings-daemon 3.10.2-0ubuntu1~saucy6 is not
present in saucy repositories, but in gnome PPA's. You can try removing
one by one using dpkg all those packages ending in saucy, remove all the
PPA repositories and use aptitude remove '?version(*saucy*)' if you have
it installed, or reinstall your system.

[Bug 1673092] [NEW] systemd doesn't wait until the tentative flag isn't removed before firing units depending on network-online.target

2017-03-15 Thread Braiam Peguero
Public bug reported:

[Impact]

See this issue for details
https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/2037

Basically, while DAD is running checks on a ipv6 address, no service can
bind the interface, which could provoke units to fail. Disabling DAD is
a workaround as explained here [1], but ideally systemd should wait until
the tentative flag is removed. v232 doesn't have this issue. Can the relevant
patches be backported to LTS releases?

[Test Case]

1. Configure ipv6 address on one interface
2. Create unit with After=network-online.target that pings a host over
   ipv6
3. Restart the system

[Regression Potential]

* Unknown

[Other Info]

* Seems to have been fixed on v232.
* Using ifupdown or networkd to create the interface seems to be irrelevant
(upstream bug report uses networkd, while I use ifupdown)

@xnox There isn't anything indicating in the changelogs that this bug
was fixed and 229-4ubuntu17. Remember that the bug is a race condition,
so it may or may not happen at random, it depends which is faster,
systemd or DAD

the tentative flag is removed. v232 doesn't have this issue. Can the relevant
patches be backported to LTS releases?

  [Test Case]

  1. Configure ipv6 address on one interface
  2. Create unit with After=network-online.target that pings a host over
     ipv6
- 3. Restart the system
+ 3. Restart the system (may need several reboots as it's a race condition)

  [Regression Potential]

  * Unknown

  [Other Info]

  * Seems to have been fixed on v232.
  * Using ifupdown or networkd to create the interface seems to be irrelevant
(upstream bug report uses networkd, while I use ifupdown)

[Bug 1566302] Re: Ubuntu 16.04: Suspend freezes the system after upgrade to linux image 4.4.0-16

2016-04-27 Thread Braiam Peguero
macias, since you were able to find that the issue was fixed upstream,
could you follow the procedure that Joseph explained? Specifically:

> If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

and

> Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug
as "Confirmed".

This will allow the team to pinpoint what went wrong, and offer a
solution for everyone else.

[Bug 448158] Re: apport-retrace crashed with UnicodeEncodeError in exit()

2010-10-02 Thread Braiam Peguero
It could have a better handle of the no-options and invalid options.
Instead of a error can be something like:

apport-retrace
No options given. Please, use apport-retrace --help to get a complete list of
options.

or

Invalid option. Run apport-retrace --help to get a complete list of
options.

[Bug 661772] Re: process page_sync grow cpu I/O wait

2010-12-04 Thread Braiam Peguero
Hi Brad,

The needs-upstream-testing can be remove as I've made a upgrade to 10.10
and the issue still there.

Is a HP Pavilion a1104x, PIV 3.06, 512 MB Sistem Memory, Intel
Integrated Graphics, and a 1.5GB swap.

Could be possibly to change to a more light flavor of Ubuntu?

[Bug 1245929] [NEW] apt pinning preferences are ignored

2013-10-29 Thread Braiam Peguero
Public bug reported:

I've seen already the "possible related" but either they have been fixed
or doesn't apply.

I'm trying to set the PPA's with lower priority than normal releases
using:

Package: *
 Pin: origin "ppa.launchpad.net"
 Pin-Priority: 400

This works without problems in Debian, but in Ubuntu ppa.launchpad.net
keeps it's 500 priority:

This is not desirable. I've tried other combinations such:

Pin: release o=LP-PPA-saiarcot895-chromium-beta
(for each of the ppa's)

Pin: release v=13.04,o=LP-PPA-juju-stable,a=raring,n=raring,l=juju stable
packages,c=main
(again, for each of the ppa's)

release l=juju stable packages
(also tried labels alone)

Etc. None of them works.

This is not desirable. I've tried other combinations such:

  Pin: release o=LP-PPA-saiarcot895-chromium-beta
  (for each of the ppa's)

  Pin: release v=13.04,o=LP-PPA-juju-stable,a=raring,n=raring,l=juju stable
packages,c=main
(again, for each of the ppa's)

  release l=juju stable packages
  (also tried labels alone)

- Etc. None of them works.
+ Etc. None of them works. strace shows that apt-cache is indeed reading
+ the preferences.d file, but what is done with it is unknown.
