[Bug 237910] Re: Thunderbird totally messed up handling of e-mail attachement

2008-11-30 Thread Benjamin Rampe
Your right click experience seems to be the same than mine -- fine.
Regarding the deleting via the button:
if you open a new message and add a few attachments, close and save it to your
drafts, select it in your drafts, click on "forward" and decide to delete one
of the formally attached files with the left mouse button and then delete this
focused one via the button it does so very well.
If you try to mark this attachment and delete it by marking it with the left
mouse button and then press "delete" it doesn't work -- this is a totally
different experience compared to doing it with a newly opened message.

If not a bug, it is inconsistent usability.
(Why can I delete a message attachment in a normal message and not delete a
message attachment in a message I want to forward via the same ways...)

Overall I would say you're on the right track.

Regards,
Benjamin

P.S. I'll try to make a screencast if we continue to have different
experiences.

[Bug 263351] Re: cursor position & event inconsistency

2008-11-29 Thread Benjamin Rampe
** Summary changed:

- marking of read messages depends on actual cursor position
+ cursor position & event inconsistency

** Description changed:

- I moved the cursor after reading a news for about 5 seconds, then the new
selected news got marked as read.
- Tried it a few more times and it seems to me that thunderbird should remember
exactly which news the focus was on and not mark the message under the cursor
shortly after the timer event occurs.
- I didn't test it with e-mail, only with news.
+ I moved the cursor after reading a news for about 5 seconds, then the newly

[Bug 237910] Re: Thunderbird totally messed up handling of e-mail attachement

2008-11-29 Thread Benjamin Rampe
It is still an issue.
I tested it with Version 2.0.0.17 (20080925) in hardy. Actually there is a
difference between deleting via key and deleting via the context menu after
right clicking on the attachement.

Btw. nice to see somebody cares.
(It started thinking to switch back to Debian on the Desktop because nobody
here seems to care for bugs.)

[Bug 237910] [NEW] Thunderbird totally messed up handling of e-mail attachement

2008-06-06 Thread Benjamin Rampe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: thunderbird

When I want to forward an e-mail and click on the attached original
e-mail (which itself has an attachement) and I delete a file attached to
it, the whole original message gets deleted instead of the attachement
of the forwarded message. Another message will be displayed in the
window which I suspect to show the message to forward. (It seems to show
the next message in the mailheader overview.)

What I wanted to do in the first place was to forward a message without
a unnecessary attachement -- does not seem to be possible with this
behaviour (bug?)

I am willing to give further feedback in any form -- verbose describtion,
screenshots, desktop vid session.
Regards,
Benjamin

2008-06-06 Thread Benjamin Rampe
2.0.0.14 (20080505) -- A few minutes ago I deactivated all add-ons, even
the language pack: still the same behaviour.

* It definitly jumps to the next message: if it is the last one, the message
window will be closed.
* My home directory with the thunderbird settings and accounts is mountet via
NFS.
* It might be important that I use IMAP accounts. Maybe you should try that

Installed thunderbird related packages on the local machine are:

James, thank _you_ for your ongoing interest and contributions.

Hopefully the following informations give answer your requests
(the "undisclosed" parts are meaningful in its original setting. If you want to
make sure, without further ado I'm only allowed to provide the files to you in
private.):

This setup works flawless with a self compiled Tomcat6.
The config files of the setups are untouched copies.

Conditionally:
the Ubuntu-provided Tomcat works with simple JSPs -- like the introductory
example in "Pro Tomcat6"(don't ask me why that makes a difference towards the
binding...but that was my first test case) -- but as soon as I try a real
webapp (webprotege from Univ. o. Stanford) the setup fails with the
Ubuntu-provided Tomcat but works as expected with the compiled one.
If you can't reproduce it and if you are willing to wait, I could try to setup
the working setup with the Ubuntu-provided package again and make a test
protocol. Just to make sure I didn't hallucinate the test case with the simple
JSPs.

I'm willing to help, but might not be able to answer or test daily. So
any delay isn't meant to be a lack of courtesy.

Regards

[Bug 1006446] Re: nfs4 causes enormous load in ubuntu-server making it unusable

2013-03-11 Thread Benjamin Rampe
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 879334 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/879334

+1

* clean install of 12.04 server.
* LDAP AUTH_SYS
* a single nfs client has no noticable problems, as soon as a second client
starts both clients generate high CPU loads on their side (> 90%, Core 2 Duo)
and on the server side (both nfsd at 14%, io-wait maximal 0.5%, Xeon X5649)

Changing to the deadline scheduler helped after a few minutes delay
(client side CPU load due to nfs: <1%, server side nfsd processes rarely
peak to 6%). I can confirm comment #29.

[Bug 666833] Re: gnome-terminal background gets transparent when switching to profile w/o transparency

2011-05-28 Thread Benjamin Rampe
The following isn't meant as a personal attack.

No: I won't test Natty.
I've not chosen the latest LTS release on pure coincidence.
I don't won't to bother every six months with the hippest crap or time wasting
toy of the Mac-adoring fan boy generation.
I don't won't to organize my life around a stream of constant noise (twitter,
facebook, etc.), half-yearly releases, or a rolling release, where everyday is
maintenance day!
As a LTS user, I decided not to invest time in cutting edge releases, I decided
to help stabilize the current LTS release till the dust settles on it, it
starts to get a patina and I won't use two releases in parallel as long as
there isn't another LTS release ripe for testing.

Thanks for your help, but I already decided to return to Debian because it fits
my needs and maybe I misunderstood the idea behind Ubuntu LTS releases.
But I'm tired of having to observe that the mainstream on launchpad seems to
like to haste behind the newest release, leaving LTS behind like a rotten fruit
and not few answers follow above pattern: try the latest (half-baked) release.

That's impossible with Tomcat 6 candidate 6.0.24-2ubuntu1.4 because it's

[Bug 666833] [NEW] gnome-terminal background gets transparent when switching to profile w/o transparency

3) I wanted to switch the current gnome-terminal profile to one with another
color. Both of them have no transparency defined -- one colored background.
4) The profile gets switched -- all colors correct -- but with a transparent
background. Opening a new instance from this defect window does result in a
correct instance. To put it another way: only the first instance after profile
switching has unwanted transparency.

[Bug 612635] Re: Hash-sum error for sun-java6-bin_6.20dlj-1ubuntu3_amd64

2010-09-09 Thread Benjamin Rampe
Invalid -- seems to be a problem with apt-cacher.

I could have tested this earlier, sorry. Receiving the package directly
from the repository works just fine!

[Bug 634042] [NEW] E-Mail doesn't get stared in CC section after adding to addressbook

2010-09-09 Thread Benjamin Rampe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: thunderbird

While viewing an e-mail in a seperate tab, if one adds an e-mail that is
in the CC of that mail, that address won't be marked as added in the
open tab -- addresses in the FROM part of that mail are not affected.

1) lsb_release -rd:
Description:Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS

2) apt-cache policy

4) Happend:
