[Bug 153055] Re: Firefox, Thunderbird crash if SCIM-Anthy is on
We believe this bug has been fixed by disabling shared input in SCIM's default configuration in version 1.4.7-3ubuntu7. If you have a custom SCIM configuration in your home directory (i.e. ~/.scim/global or .scim/config are present), please make sure any line with FrontEnd/SharedInputMethod is removed. If this does not fix the issue, please test with Firefox 3.0 and reopen this bug if the issue is still present there. As Firefox 2 won't be improved anymore it is highly unlikely that this issue is going to be fixed there (if it ever was a bug in firefox at all). ** Changed in: scim (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Released -- Firefox, Thunderbird crash if SCIM-Anthy is on https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/153055 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 260380] Re: Restart-required alert is jargon-filled and doesn't let you restart
I'm going to remove that dialog and use update-notifier instead. The reboot is not really necessary to activate the changes, but restarting the X session is. So, I'd like to show a note using update-notifier with some wording to request the user to relogin. Something like this: "In order to activate the changes you'll need to restart your session. Please logout and re-login at your earliest convenience." Because English is not my native language, suggestions for rephrasing this sentence are welcome. -- Restart-required alert is jargon-filled and doesn't let you restart https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/260380 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 184028] Re: option to choose spell-checking dictionary
I will add an option to selectively install / remove "writing aids" (this includes spell checkers) for each language. However, I don't see any possibility to use more than one spell checker if you type in multiple languages. This would be a useful feature, but it would need to be implemented in the application you want to use. Currently all language related functions are influenced by the environment locales. Means, if your locale is set to es_ES, then only the Spanish spell checker will be used in any application which gets started from that environment. If you want to use the en_GB spell checker, then you would need to start your application in the en_GB environment. For example: $ LANG=en_GB oowriter & But then the UI for that application would probably be also in English. If you want to be able to switch between spell checkers on the fly in a running application, that I'm afraid that application would need to be modified to allow this. Language-selector won't be able to help here. [Bug 236028] Re: Min Nan Chinese not available in Language Support
ok, I have one problem with the current data: The abday and abmon fields: If you look at two typical applications which use these (cal on command line and the calendar applet on gnome), you will find that the calendar applet only uses the first three letters as an abbrevation, while 'cal' even only uses the first two letters. What's more is that the default date format is: weekday month day. So, with the current data, cal would display the weekdays as: lé pà pà pà pà pà pà and the calendar applet in gnome would use: "pài 8-g 28" for todays date. One possibility would be to use: abday "ji̍t, it, jī, saⁿ, sì, gō͘, la̍k" or "lé, it, jī, saⁿ, sì, gō͘, la̍k" abmon "01g, 02g, 03g, 04g, 05g, 06g, 07g, 08g, 09g, 10g, 11g, 12g" Other suggestions? I see a potential conflict with Japanese users here: they prefer Japanese glyph shapes. 65-nonlatin.conf comes from upstream fontconfig and generally we don't touch those but add additional config files if we see a need for them. Therefor we provided the 69-language-selector-$lang files, to give the user the choice which CJK fonts they prefer. For non-CJK locale users, the only way to activate those settings is to use fontconfig-voodoo on the command line. However, our preferred solution is to give the user full control over his font settings: that's what I'm currently working on. A GUI called font-selector, which gives the user full control over font preference, hinting, anti-aliasing and embedded bitmap usage. Bottom line: every user has different preferences, providing one configuration that fits everyone is impossible. In an ideal world, everyone would use markup text with language tags for every paragraph or word. Then we could choose the appropriate font automatically. Therefor, I think we should add one config file which sets the appropriate fonts for each language tag environment, then at least web browsers should be able to get the correct font if the text is tagged appropriately (which is unfortunately very seldom). -- 64-ttf-arphic-uming.conf makes Uming default sans-serif over wqy-zenhei https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/300191 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 384663] Re: Does not accept the right translation
Not yet. What we need to have is a list containing the source package name and the .pot or .po filenames for each source package. Now, if I download the source package for kde-l10n-de for example, it contains a lot of subdirectories, one for each project, I suppose, which contain the .po files for German in this case. Each .po file carries the translation domain in its filename. When I download the source package of, let's say, kde4libs, it contains a Messages.sh script, which is supposed to generate the .pot files on build time if I'm not mistaken. (Somehow I fail to build both source packages on my local machine, so I cannot see what is actually happening.) What I still don't understand is the relationship between those two packages. In the kde-l10n-de package, the translations for kde4libs are actually in the directory called 'kdelibs'. This suggests me that the directory name does not necessarily match the source package name in Kubuntu... so, how is this mapping done? So, what we need is a list like: kde4libskdelibs4 kde4libskdelibs_colors ... We would need this list for every KDE upload, means the lists should be versioned. For the upcoming Karmic translation opening (hopefully next week), we would need this list for the latest release in Jaunty (4.2.2) and for the current one in Karmic (4.2.90). Then we can produce a diff and can see what has changed. We would then need to find out what happened to those templates, which have changed between those two releases. * Is it a new template? * Has it been renamed from another name in the older release? * Has it moved across source packages? * What happened to those templates which were in the old release but are missing in the new one? Have they been obsoleted, renamed or moved? I don't know how things work on the Kubuntu-devel side... so, I cannot give any scripting advice. Maybe those template movements can be tracked in the svn changelog? So, I need some input here. :) -- Does not accept the right translation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/384663 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 264123] Re: please remove ttf-manchufont from dependency
Mongolian in Mongolia uses Cyrillic script, that's correct. But in China's Inner Mongolia Region, they use Mongolian script. The font is not to be meant to be used as default font for the desktop. If fontconfig chooses this font over others, I suggest to add some fontconfig rules to the font package to prevent this. As the language-support-fonts-* packages contain extra fonts which might be of general interest to the users of that language, but is not limited to a country or region, I suggest to keep the package as it is, but add some fontconfig magic to ttf-manchufont as described above. The proper way would be to tell fontconfig to ignore manchufont for the mn_MN locale, but use it for mn_CN (for which we don't have locale data yet). Also, it would be nice to know which Ubuntu flavor (Ubuntu/Kubuntu) and release version (Gutsy, Hardy, Intrepid?) your friend uses. -- GTK popup search not working for Chinese https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/292991 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
