[Bug 1077547] [NEW] Kubuntu 12.10 Kernel issues
Public bug reported: I just upgraded to 12.10 today, booted into the 3.5 kernel, started up VNC sessions and Samba sessions, and was getting intermittent consistent lag that lasted about 3 seconds, but occurred every 15 seconds. After some basic troubleshooting (because the update broke quite a bit of things IE DHCP), I was told to try booting into an older kernel. Booted back into Kernel 3.2 and the problems disappeared. The expected output is that lag issues should not be apparent/there. [Bug 1077547] Re: Kubuntu 12.10 Kernel issues
apport information ** Description changed: I just upgraded to 12.10 today, booted into the 3.5 kernel, started up VNC sessions and Samba sessions, and was getting intermittent consistent lag that lasted about 3 seconds, but occurred every 15 seconds. After some basic troubleshooting (because the update broke quite a bit of things IE DHCP), I was told to try booting into an older kernel. Booted back into Kernel 3.2 and the problems disappeared. The expected output is that lag issues should not be apparent/there. Was told to file a bug report Current installed verions ls -/l boot -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 20758097 Nov 10 14:16 initrd.img-3.2.0-32-generic -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 22781155 Nov 10 14:34 initrd.img-3.5.0-18-generic lspci, dmesg, and mii-tool for 3.5 http://pastebin.com/yYkqxptK user@server:~$ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 12.10 Release:12.10 --- ApportVersion: 2.6.1-0ubuntu6 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: Error: command ['fuser', '-v', '/dev/snd/by-path', '/dev/snd/controlC0', '/dev/snd/hwC0D0', '/dev/snd/pcmC0D3p', '/dev/snd/pcmC0D7p', '/dev/snd/seq', '/dev/snd/timer'] failed with exit code 1: CRDA: Error: command ['iw', 'reg', 'get'] failed with exit code 1: nl80211 not found.
