[Bug 1077547] [NEW] Kubuntu 12.10 Kernel issues

2012-11-10 Thread Andrew D
Public bug reported:

I just upgraded to 12.10 today, booted into the 3.5 kernel, started up
VNC sessions and Samba sessions, and was getting intermittent consistent
lag that lasted about 3 seconds, but occurred every 15 seconds. After
some basic troubleshooting (because the update broke quite a bit of
things IE DHCP), I was told to try booting into an older kernel. Booted
back into Kernel 3.2 and the problems disappeared.

The expected output is that lag issues should not be apparent/there.

Was told to file a bug report

Does this need to be run from both kernels or just the 3.5 kernel?

[Bug 1077547] Re: Kubuntu 12.10 Kernel issues

2012-11-11 Thread Andrew D
apport information

** Description changed:

I just upgraded to 12.10 today, booted into the 3.5 kernel, started up
VNC sessions and Samba sessions, and was getting intermittent consistent
lag that lasted about 3 seconds, but occurred every 15 seconds. After
some basic troubleshooting (because the update broke quite a bit of
things IE DHCP), I was told to try booting into an older kernel. Booted
back into Kernel 3.2 and the problems disappeared.

The expected output is that lag issues should not be apparent/there.

Was told to file a bug report

Currently unable to test on this hardware. If I get the chance to update

Really wish there was an edit button.

By completely broken, I mean that it is either uninstalled itself, isn't
running, isn't installed, or something happened in the upgrade from
12.04 to 12.10.

[Bug 245776] Re: cant run installation program

2008-07-05 Thread Andrew D S Jones
I have full access to the /tmp directory.
No other users on the system

My solution was to uninstall Firefox 3 and install Firefox 2
My Problem resolved

Computers are like air-conditioners ...
They don't work properly when you open windows :)

thanks Andrew

Sorry about the delay.
It was a Desktop intel CD and the error appears every time ubuntu
starts. It should be categorised as a low classification of bug because
I haven't found any adverse effect. But it is probably still an
installation problem because if it was loaded during the installation
the error would not occur. it appears briefly after grub loading before
the ubuntu logo.
I found the error text in /var/log/syslog
The text is:
Mar 28 01:31:14 LAPTOP kernel: [ 8560.278359] ACPI: Unable to load the
System Description Tables
Attached file syslog

ALSO
I am willing to help develop enhancements, contribute ... but I will
need help in this regard. Please suggest a text book or article I should
investigate to facilitate this.
regards Andrew
