[Bug 1539046] [NEW] libGL error: failed to open drm device: Permission denied
Public bug reported: After some update (unfortunately I'm not sure what) if I try to play a videofile (e.g. mpv movie.mkv) I get this error: libGL error: failed to open drm device: Permission denied I think from this message is not very clear why is that. I figured out I was not in "video" group: "id user_name" I had to do this: "usermod -aG video user_name " and then restart X (logout, login). After that it works again. So I suspect there is some problem there. Why libGL cannot be used without membership in video group or why a regular user is not in video group. Happened to me on Kubuntu 15.10 after upgrade to Plasma 5.5.3 and Frameworks 5.18.0 using kubuntu.org's ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports. The message was: "This operation cannot continue since proper authorization was not provided." Plus some weird problems for instance cannot suspend to RAM without the authorization. [Bug 1318570] [NEW] Disabled touchpad on again after wake
Public bug reported: I have set "Disable touchpad when mouse is plugged in" in System Settings / Touchpad. Works fine until I suspend the laptop to RAM. When waked up, touchpad is ON again. [Bug 1243825] Re: wont resume when awakened from suspend
Addition: it turned out that removing proprietary video driver was not enough. Some problems disappeared but my laptop still sometimes didn't wake up from sleep. So I tried to upgrade kernel to 3.12 and now it looks like everything is all right again. I hope it will remain that way for a while. So in my case the problems were solved by 1. removing proprietary video drive, 2. upgrading kernel. [Bug 1050021] [NEW] autofs failed to mount .hidden
Public bug reported: I use autofs to mount network drive via NFS (Ubuntu 12.04 with all updates). Configuration files: /etc/auto.master: /media /etc/auto.nfs --timeout 10 /etc/auto.nfs: myshare -fstype=nfs4,soft,intr 192.168.1.1:/ I made the directory /media/myshare in advance. First a stopped service: "service autofs stop" and run "automount -f -v" to see its messages. Than I tried to access /media/myshare. ls is OK, mc from console too but when I do it with nautilus I get " failed to mount /media/.hidden" and nothing else happens. What is interesting, sometimes the first attempt works but the second fails and myshare directory is deleted! This is the situation on Ubuntu 12.04. At the same time the same configuration works perfectly on Kubuntu 12.04 with Krusader and Dolphin. Any ideas or workarounds? Note: what is wrong with autofs? [Bug 887933] [NEW] KDE taskbar (the bottom panel) doesn't respond occasionally
Public bug reported: After upgrade from Kubuntu 11.04 to 11.10 the bottom panel started to freeze every now and then. It stops working for about 1 or 2 minutes. During this time I can't switch windows (but ALT+TAB works), can't switch workspaces (but CTRL+F1 - F4 works), I'm unable to start the launcher (but ALT+F2 works) or the calendar or anything else. The whole bottom panel is out of order for some time. After a while it works again and I can see that all previous clicks are quickly processed. The problem repeats several times a day but I haven't found any regularity or a reason why it happens. I upgraded KDE to 4.7.3 from ppa:kubuntu-ppa/ppa, but it didn't help. [Bug 874266] Re: Wireless led indicator always "off"
Hi, same here. HP ProBook 4525s and Broadcom BCM4313. I think that different driver is used. When I click on the network manager I can see "Driver: brcmsmac" which is probably open source driver. When I want to install the proprietary one it tells me it can't be installed. It worked fine in 11.04. After upgrade to 11.10 it stopped working and when I tried clean installation of Kubuntu 11.10 it doesn't work as well. [Bug 340208] [NEW] network speed increases with CPU usage
Public bug reported: There has been a lot of discussion about slow network (Ethernet) connection in Ubuntu 8.04 and higher: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-networking-3/slow-internet-after-upgrade-to-ubuntu-8.04-637922/ http://www.zyxware.com/articles/2008/08/01/slow-broadband-in-ubuntu-hardy-speed-up-your-internet-connection http://www.chrisamiller.com/blog/2008/11/26/slow-internet-on-ubuntu-810/ In my case, none of those solutions worked. But I noticed that increasing CPU usage increases the connection speed and using the CPU at maximum makes the connection work completely fine. I am connected with 100 Mbit speed. Normally, downloading speed gets as low as 30 Kbit/s, with the CPU busy it works at 100 Mbit/s. The speed is not slower in LAN, only in Internet connections. This behaviour can be reproduced at any time. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- network speed increases with CPU usage https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/340208 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 340218] Re: Automount of maxtor 300GB Extern USB HDD failed
I think this is not a bug. Most likely cause is that the drive really wasn't cleanly unmounted in Windows and since Linux (unlike Windows) respects the filesystem state, it won't mount it. You should have tried the first suggestion: disconnect the external devices by clicking on the 'Safely Remove Hardware' Icon in the Windows taskbar. This will probably solve your problem. Note that this is not an error or a bug, but reasonable and excpected behavior. -- Automount of maxtor 300GB Extern USB HDD failed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/340218 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
