2009-06-17 Thread AJenbo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs

"You can also select the required commands in your web browser and then
subsequently click the middle button on your mouse (or simply click
buttons simultaneously on a two-button mouse) in the terminal to paste
in the select command."

I think it should say

"... (or simply click both buttons simultaneously on a two-button mouse)

[Bug 343988] [NEW] GRUB not booting to correct disk

2009-03-16 Thread AJenbo
Public bug reported:

Instaling 8.04.1 on my x64 system failed to set up GRUB properly. GRUB tryes to
boot from disk 3,0 but linux (and GRUB) is installed on disk 1,0.
This was fixed by editing the boot config using the live cd to access it. But
after an update, the changes was reverted. Furtere more i will some times
remove disk 0,0 as it is swapable. This causes the system to again not boot,
even with a fixed GRUB config, as the disk with Ubuntu on is now 0,0.

I used Ubuntu 8.04.1 live CD x64 to install.

[Bug 344240] [NEW] Compiz on Extra is anoying at best (video)

2009-03-17 Thread AJenbo
Public bug reported:

In this video i list the issues i am having with Effects turned to
Extra.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5CTgRhiUkU

1: When a windows is near the top or bottom menus, and has one side out
side the screen, it's corners will start to wobble.

2: Tall windows will some times start to jump from the top menu to the
bottom menu repetidly.

3: When a window is animating it's visual and clickable area are ofthen
not in the same location.

4: Tall windows are hard to move from the bottom to the top or vis
versa, as they stick to the othere end.

5: Sometimes windows will jump behind the top menu, leaving the user
unable to use the functions found in the title bar of the program
(minimise, close, maximize and move), not all users knows that this can
also be done from the content menu for the program in the bottom menu.

All theas bugs are confirmed (by me) on 7.10, 8.04.1 and 8.10, on two
different systems.

The solution to the most critical of thease errors is to only tell the
program about the desktop space and not the screen space, this would
avoice that the program jumps behind the menu, wobels and reduce the
jumping and flickering of the windows.

[Bug 346892] [NEW] games/C/games.xml:109 keymapping not input devices

2009-03-22 Thread AJenbo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs

"Features include 9 enemies, 26 playable levels, software and OpenGL
rendering modes, configurable joystick and keyboard input"

The string is unclear about what is configurable about the joystick and
keybard, it shoud be narrowed down to somthing like keymapping instead
of input as that is what the game alowes, this will help with
translations.

[Bug 343983] Re: After updating 8.04.1 to 8.10, system halts at wating for root device.

2009-03-22 Thread AJenbo
After some furthere experimentation and usage of the system it is clear
that this happens when ever i try to boot using the 2.6.27.11 kernel, if
i use the 2.6.24.23 kernal (8.04.1) every thing works swimingly, the
version number is the only difference in the two enteries on menu.lst. I
have tried sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.27-11-generic, sudo apt-
get install linux-image-2.6.27-11-generic to no avail.

Memtest86+ an Vista changeloader+ works just fine as well.

Drive lay out

disk0 1 NTFS partision with all things VISTA
disk1 1 ext3 with all things ubuntu and grub, and 1 swap partision
disk2 1 NTFS partision with some shared data on it.

[Bug 343983] Re: After updating 8.04.1 to 8.10, system halts at wating for root device.

2009-03-24 Thread AJenbo
I tried uninstalling linux-image-2.6.24-23-generic and any local/legacy
software.
Installed linux-image-2.6.27-9-generic, linux-image-2.6.27-9-generic and
linux-image-2.6.25-2-386.

All 2.6.27-xx failes to boot with the same message.

2.6.25-2 was able to boot but not all the way to the desktop.

I have tried running 8.10 live cd inside qemu on the system and that
worked resonably well.

As the system is no longer functioning proper i am going to reinstall it
from a fresh 8.10 cd (silly that it happens just before 9.04), if you
want any test data from my system it has to be with in a couple of dayes
since i need it to do some danish translations for 9.04.

[Bug 357297] [NEW] PressC.

2009-04-07 Thread AJenbo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: desktop-effects

The new strings added in 9.10 has a lot of errors.

things like:
"m." should be "m."
"C" should be "c"
"press" should be "press "

Heres the 8 lines that I found to have some of these issue.

To enable or disable Negative on the focused window,
pressSupern.
To adjust the zoom level so that the window fills the field of view, press
Superr.
To lock the the zoom area (field of view) so it will not move to follow the
mouse cursor, use Super1.
To enable or disable Negative on the screen, press
Superm.
To center the mouse on the screen, press
SuperC
By default, Expo is activated by moving the mouse cursor to the top-left corner
of the screen, or by pressing
SuperE. This causes the
viewport to zoom out until all viewports are scaled and visible on-screen in a
grid formation, complete with all open windows.
To adjust the zoom level so that the window fills the field of view, press
Superr.
To resize the focused window so that it fills the field of view, press
Superv.

Wubi don't replace the Windows bootloaders. It simply addes an entry for

The secound step is the windows nt bootloader, it sound like wubi didn't
properly removed ubuntu from the boot.ini file on C:, could you please post the

In lucid with firefox 3.6, going to file->import... tells you that there

I think the correct way to import book marks in ff3.6 is to go to

update it from Karmic to Lucid.
Once the upgrade was compleat the users cursor was a big fat X and there was no
border on the windows.
Loogin out of the user account and in to the admin accound showed that the
admin had a fully working window manager.
Logged back in to the user accound and still no window manager.
Went to System->Preferences->Appearance -> Desktop Effects revealed that the
Desktop Effects had been changed to 'None' by the upgrade process.
Switched it back to normal and now every thing was working.

2010-05-04 Thread AJenbo
After rebooting the Desktop Effects is again set to None and all windows
are again missing there boarder and button. Switching Desktop Effects to
Normal still fixes it but it's not viable to have to do this every day.

[Bug 229825] Re: USB HP OfficeJet G85 Doesn't Work In Hardy

2010-01-08 Thread AJenbo
Ok found a workaround to get this crap to work.

1: Add printer (the usb://HP/OfficeJet, not the hp:/usb/OfficeJet)

2: turn off the printer, turn on the printer

3: run sudo /etc/init.d/cups restart

After that it seams to always print, but we haven't attempted restarting
the computer yet.

2010-01-25 Thread AJenbo
In Firefox 2, only the text scaled and the menu layout was as in the
description of the docs, i Think it is just a case of the docs not being
updated as the software was.
Firefox is fine and the docs should be updated, that's why I reported the issue
in the docs and not firefox ;)

was installer.
In other cases where i got this isse (some times when mounting a ntfs drive) I

2010-02-26 Thread AJenbo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs

Completing the Import/Export Wizard will be
displayed. Press Export.

In danish the step with the Export button is called "Where do you want
your favorits exported to?" and it is followed by a final step that
shows you what was done.

But every thing up to this step seams fine.

** Affects: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu)

[Bug 493331] Re: Windows line 1246, this has & mdash; instead of —

2010-03-01 Thread AJenbo
It's being used again here, and with the same issue.

Ubuntu is now being upgraded to version 10.04. This release is a long
term support release, culminating two significant years of work. It will
be supported for three years — until April, 2013.

2009-12-13 Thread AJenbo
What part of me already trying to explain this did you not understand?

I believe it is because: Outlook uses localized labels for the rows in
the CSV file, and Evolution probably only knows the English lables.
"Beskrivelse" -> "Description", see the attached CSV sample.
