[Bug 2075542] Re: bind9 1:9.18.28-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 breakes local system
Unfortunately, we did not have access to the simplified patches for 9.16 when the security issues were published, and since 9.16 is no longer supported by ISC since April 2024, we weren't expecting them to become available. The patches for 9.18 were much more sophisticated rendering backporting to 9.16 unpractical. The patches that ISC eventually created for 9.16 and used by them to fix the Debian package use a different approach. In the interest of keeping our customers secure, we made the difficult decision at the time of moving to 9.18, even though certain changes would require adjustments for some users. We mentioned this update would require changes in our USN, and linked to an ISC page describing the changes required when migrating from 9.16 to 9.18. We apologize for situations like these, and we always strive to release updates that do not break existing installations. Previous versions of packages can always be downloaded from launchpad by going to the package page (for bind9, that would be https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bind9 ), clicking the "View full publishing history" on the right, clicking the version we want, clicking the architecture we want, and a list of downloadable binaries will be displayed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2075542 Title: bind9 1:9.18.28-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 breakes local system To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bind9/+bug/2075542/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2076007] [NEW] login screen on two monitors appears on secondary display
Public bug reported: This seems to be a bug with the Display Manager (GDM) that handles the login process. The problem shows up in both Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS and Rocky Linux 8.10. Windows 11 Pro does not suffer from this. I have them all installed on the same machine and connected to two monitors. The bug is that when the login screen appears, the login screen shows up on the secondary monitor instead of the primary one. Once logged in into the Ubuntu/Rocky Linux GNOME the settings configuration is respected. Also, since I upgraded to Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS, my boot process is now slow: $ sudo systemd-analyze critical-chain The time when unit became active or started is printed after the "@" character. [Bug 2076006] [NEW] login screen on two monitors appears on secondary display
Hi Chris, Yes, jammy-hwe-6.8 got fixed because Stefan Bader had to respin the kernel for another regression anyway, so he opportunistically pulled it in. For Noble, I think it will be part of the s2024.07.08 SRU cycle, as per https://kernel.ubuntu.com/, as Manuel Diewald mentioned when I spoke to him. [Bug 2076021] [NEW] Rclone on Ubuntu 22.04 is unable to sync crypt remote with OneDrive properly
Public bug reported: I use Rclone to sync my offsite backups to OneDrive. Up until 07/20/2024 this worked just fine, however now if I try to sync any file that is not a directory, it throws a 'Failed to copy: unauthenticated: Unauthenticated' error on any other file. I tested it with the normal 'onedrive' (unencrypted) remote and I do not have this problem. This issue is not occuring with the latest upstream version 1.67.0. What I expect to happen: A seamless sync between the local file system structure and the 'OneDrive' remote using the 'crypt' remote as an encryption layer. What happened instead: Only directorys get synced, their content and standalone files fail to sync with the error message "Failed to copy: unauthenticated: Unauthenticated" despite the authentication token being set properly. Public bug reported: When using the Match statement in sshd_config or sshd_config.d/*.conf with socket activation(not classic method), sshd does not start as expected. Environment: Ubuntu: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS OpenSSH Server: 1:9.6p1-3ubuntu13.4 Steps to Reproduce: /etc/ssh/sshd_config ``` Include /etc/ssh/sshd_config.d/*.conf Port 22 Port 2 KbdInteractiveAuthentication no UsePAM yes X11Forwarding yes PrintMotd no AcceptEnv LANG LC_* Subsystem sftp/usr/lib/openssh/sftp-server Match LocalPort 2 PasswordAuthentication no PubkeyAuthentication yes ``` command: sudo systemctl daemon-reload && sudo systemctl restart ssh.socket Expected Behavior: sshd should listen on both ports 22 and 2. When connecting via port 2, password login should not be allowed and only public key authentication should be permitted. Actual Behavior: sshd only listens on port 22 and not on port 2. The configuration is not correctly applied. After daemon-reload, the output from journalctl is as follows: $ sudo journalctl -t (sd-exec- Aug 04 12:47:36 ults (sd-exec-[479259]: /usr/lib/systemd/system-generators/sshd-socket-generator failed with exit status 255. Additional Information: 1.Using sshd -T -C to test the configuration produces the following result: $ sudo sshd -T -C lport=22 | grep passwordauthentication passwordauthentication yes $ sudo sshd -T -C lport=2 | grep passwordauthentication passwordauthentication no 2.The output when manually running /usr/lib/systemd/system-generators/sshd-socket-generator is: $ sudo /usr/lib/systemd/system-generators/sshd-socket-generator ./ 'Match LocalPort' in configuration but 'lport' not in connection test specification. 3.I have test some cases, if sshd-socket-generator can not handle config rightly, sshd seems to run with default config. And I also noticed that there is no test case about the Match directive in https://git.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/tree/debian/tests/sshd-socket-generator. I guess the root cause of the issue lies in the sshd-socket-generator not correctly handling the Match directive. And a detailed assessment of potential security issues which caused by this bug is needed. If socket activation is to be widely adopted, this issue will undoubtedly be a significant stumbling block. ** Affects: openssh (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2076023 Title: Failed to apply 'Match' directive in sshd_config with sshd-socket- generator To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/+bug/2076023/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
