I noticed that too.

And I use `sudo apt download` and `sudo chmod`, which is very
complicated.

If change peremissions of credentials, it will cause security problems.

[Bug 2075337] Re: py3clean fails when using alternate character set

First I thought that the fallback dpkg -L call needs to be fixed as
well, but then I noticed that the pipe consumers will use the user's
locale as well. So that change will probably not be needed.

[Bug 2075996] [NEW] No dbg-sym in ddebs.ubuntu.com and debuginfod

2024-08-03 Thread Enorize
Public bug reported:

ubuntu24.04

openssh-server=9.6p1-3ubuntu13.4

When debug sshd-socket-generator, I found there is no corresponding
dbd-sym.ddeb in ddebs.ubuntu.com,
and I try debuginfod, it shows as below:

```bash
/usr/lib/systemd/system-generators/sshd-socket-generator
(No debugging symbols found in
I noticed that packages in security suites do not have dbg-sym, as shown
in http://ddebs.ubuntu.com/dists/ .
It's really necessary to add dbg-sym to ddebs for package in security
suites.
Manually download dbg-sym from launchpad is OK bug complicated.
[Bug 2075997] [NEW] pipewire for :i386 is missing
2024-08-03 Thread AdlerHorst
Public bug reported:
I'm not sure if I'm right here but after updating my Ubuntu to 2024.04
My Wine games (32bit) not anymore have a working sound.
Is far I see, wine does not anymore detect a sound driver. In older
tutorials are hints about missing ":i386" driver for pulse audio. So I
assume the same goes now for pipewire. At least i'm not able to find
either a driver for pulseaudio or pipewire.
the drivers communicating  but it's been an issue with some of my games
[Bug 2075542] Re: bind9 1:9.18.28-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 breakes local system
2024-08-03 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Unfortunately, we did not have access to the simplified patches for 9.16
when the security issues were published, and since 9.16 is no longer
supported by ISC since April 2024, we weren't expecting them to become
available.
The patches for 9.18 were much more sophisticated rendering backporting
to 9.16 unpractical. The patches that ISC eventually created for 9.16
and used by them to fix the Debian package use a different approach.
In the interest of keeping our customers secure, we made the difficult
decision at the time of moving to 9.18, even though certain changes
would require adjustments for some users. We mentioned this update would
require changes in our USN, and linked to an ISC page describing the
changes required when migrating from 9.16 to 9.18.
We apologize for situations like these, and we always strive to release
updates that do not break existing installations.
Previous versions of packages can always be downloaded from launchpad by
going to the package page (for bind9, that would be
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bind9 ), clicking the "View full
publishing history" on the right, clicking the version we want, clicking
the architecture we want, and a list of downloadable binaries will be
displayed.
[Bug 2076007] [NEW] login screen on two monitors appears on secondary display
2024-08-03 Thread Gonzalo Garramuno
Public bug reported:
This seems to be a bug with the Display Manager (GDM) that handles the
login process.  The problem shows up in both Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS and
Rocky Linux 8.10.  Windows 11 Pro does not suffer from this.  I have
them all installed on the same machine and connected to two monitors.
The bug is that when the login screen appears, the login screen shows up
on the secondary monitor instead of the primary one.
Once logged in into the Ubuntu/Rocky Linux GNOME the settings
configuration is respected.
Also, since I upgraded to Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS, my boot process is now
slow:
[Bug 2071445] Re: Ubuntu 24.04 for Azure unable to run 32bit binaries
2024-08-03 Thread Alberto
I just verified with linux-azure/6.8.0-1012.14 from proposed that the issue is
corrected.
Both by inspecting the kconfig of the built kernel and by building and running
a 32bit application with which the issue was triggered in 6.8.0-1010.
The application run fine with 6.8.0-1012.14.
Thank you
[Bug 2026194] Re: When clicking on some maximized or tiled windows, focus on roughly the lower quarter falls to the window behind
2024-08-03 Thread Timur Shaidulin
Noble user here.
I never tried any beta packages and updated mutter packages to 46.2 yesterday
and now I have the following situation:
1) bug with edge detect when trying to resize the window — can reproduce
2) any click-through bugs — can't reproduce
But now even autologin disabled doesn't help, only killing
mutter-x11-fram helps.
[Bug 2064435] Re: Merge openssh from Debian unstable for oracular
2024-08-03 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package openssh - 1:9.7p1-7ubuntu2
---
openssh (1:9.7p1-7ubuntu2) oracular; urgency=medium
  * d/p/test-set-UsePAM-no-on-some-tests.patch: restore patch
This was mistakenly dropped in the merge from Debian after
testing locally only.
openssh (1:9.7p1-7ubuntu1) oracular; urgency=medium
  * Merge with Debian unstable (LP: #2064435). Remaining changes:
- Make systemd socket activation the default:
  + debian/rules: modify dh_installsystemd invocations for
socket-activated sshd
  + debian/README.Debian: document systemd socket activation.
  + debian/patches/systemd-socket-activation.patch: Fix sshd
re-execution behavior when socket activation is used
  + debian/tests/systemd-socket-activation: Add autopkgtest for systemd
socket
activation functionality.
  + debian/control: Build-Depends: systemd-dev
  + d/p/sshd-socket-generator.patch: add generator for socket activation
  + debian/openssh-server.install: install sshd-socket-generator
  + debian/openssh-server.postinst: handle migration to
sshd-socket-generator
  + d/t/sshd-socket-generator: add dep8 test for sshd-socket-generator
  + ssh.socket: adjust unit for socket activation by default
  + debian/rules: explicitly enable LTO
- debian/.gitignore: drop file
- debian/openssh-server.ucf-md5sum: update for Ubuntu delta
- debian/patches: Immediately report interactive instructions to PAM clients
- debian/patches: sshconnect2: Write kbd-interactive messages as utf-8
- d/t/ssh-gssapi: disable -e in cleanup()
- SECURITY UPDATE: timing attack against echo-off password entry
  + debian/patches/CVE-2024-39894.patch: don't rely on
channel_did_enqueue in clientloop.c
  + CVE-2024-39894
  * Dropped changes, included in Debian:
- debian/patches: only set PAM_RHOST if remote host is not "UNKNOWN"
- Remove deprecated user_readenv=1 setting (LP #2059859):
  + d/openssh-server.sshd.pam.in: drop user_readenv=1, which was
deprecated by pam_env upstream. Openssh has the SendEnv and AcceptEnv
configuration options that can be used to replace this feature, and
are in the default config already
  + d/NEWS: update about this change in behavior
- debian: Remove dependency on libsystemd
- d/p/gssapi.patch: fix method_gsskeyex structure and
  userauth_gsskeyex function regarding changes introduced in upstream
  commit dbb339f015c33d63484261d140c84ad875a9e548 ("prepare for
  multiple names for authmethods") (LP #2053146)
- d/t/{ssh-gssapi,util}: ssh-gssapi DEP8 test for gssapi-with-mic
  and gssapi-keyex authentication methods
- SECURITY UPDATE: remote code execution via signal handler race
  condition (LP #2070497)
  + debian/patches/CVE-2024-6387.patch: don't log in sshsigdie() in log.c.
  + CVE-2024-6387
  * Dropped changes, no longer needed:
- debian/openssh-server.postinst: ucf workaround for LP #1968873
  [affected upgrade path not supported]
- d/p/test-set-UsePAM-no-on-some-tests.patch: set UsePAM=no
  for some tests.
openssh (1:9.7p1-7) unstable; urgency=critical
  [ Salvatore Bonaccorso ]
  * Disable async-signal-unsafe code from the sshsigdie() function.  This is
a minimal workaround for a regression from CVE-2006-5051.
openssh (1:9.7p1-6) unstable; urgency=medium
  * Stop reading ~/.pam_environment, which has a history of security
problems and is deprecated by PAM upstream (closes: #1018260).
openssh (1:9.7p1-5) unstable; urgency=medium
  [ Colin Watson ]
  * Add "After=nss-user-lookup.target" to ssh.service and sshd@.service
(closes: #1069706).
  * Avoid cleanup of /tmp/sshauth.*, created by sshd if ExposeAuthInfo is
set.
  [ Andreas Hasenack ]
  * Add autopkgtests for GSSAPI logins, including gssapi-keyex.
  [ Luca Boccassi ]
  * Install tmpfiles.d to avoid cleanup of ssh-agent socket in /tmp/
(closes: #1070725).
  * Only set PAM_RHOST if the remote host is not "UNKNOWN" (thanks, Daan De
Meyer).
openssh (1:9.7p1-4) unstable; urgency=medium
  * Rework systemd readiness notification and socket activation patches to
not link against libsystemd (the former via an upstream patch).
  * Force -fzero-call-used-regs=used not to be used on ppc64el (it's
unsupported, but configure fails to detect this).
openssh (1:9.7p1-3) unstable; urgency=medium
  * Fix gssapi-keyex declaration further (thanks, Andreas Hasenack;
LP: #2053146).
  * Extend -fzero-call-used-regs check to catch m68k gcc bug (closes:
#1067243).
  * debian/tests/regress: Set a different IP address for UNKNOWN.
  * Re-enable ssh-askpass-gnome on all architectures.
  * regress: Redirect conch stdin from /dev/zero (re-enables conch interop
tests).
  * Drop "Work around RSA SHA-2 signature issues in conch" patch (no longer
needed now that Twisted is fixed).
openssh (1:9.7p1-2) unstable; urgency=medium
for another regression anyway, so he opportunistically pulled it in.
For Noble, I think it will be part of the s2024.07.08 SRU cycle, as per
https://kernel.ubuntu.com/, as Manuel Diewald mentioned when I spoke to him.
Thanks,
Matthew
[Bug 2076021] [NEW] Rclone on Ubuntu 22.04 is unable to sync crypt remote with OneDrive properly
2024-08-03 Thread Dustin Stratmann
Public bug reported:
I use Rclone to sync my offsite backups to OneDrive. Up until 07/20/2024
this worked just fine, however now if I try to sync any file that is not
a directory, it throws a 'Failed to copy: unauthenticated:
Unauthenticated' error on any other file. I tested it with the normal
'onedrive' (unencrypted) remote and I do not have this problem. This
issue is not occuring with the latest upstream version 1.67.0.
What I expect to happen:
A seamless sync between the local file system structure and the
'OneDrive' remote using the 'crypt' remote as an encryption layer.
What happened instead:
Only directorys get synced, their content and standalone files fail to
sync with the error message "Failed to copy: unauthenticated:
Unauthenticated" despite the authentication token being set properly.
Description:Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS
[Bug 2070020] Re: Lenovo dock no longer working after upgrade from 6.5.0-35 to 6.5.0-41
2024-08-03 Thread Matthew Ruffell
Hi everyone,
The Jammy HWE kernel will be rolling to the 6.8 kernel from Noble in a
couple days / or a week or so. The 6.5 mantic kernel is closed to any
new commits now, so best to just move to the 6.8 kernel now where this
is already fixed.
Thanks,
Matthew
[Bug 2076023] [NEW] Failed to apply 'Match' directive in sshd_config with sshd-socket-generator
2024-08-03 Thread Enorize
Public bug reported:
When using the Match statement in sshd_config or sshd_config.d/*.conf
with socket activation(not classic method), sshd does not start as
expected.
Environment:
Ubuntu: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
OpenSSH Server: 1:9.6p1-3ubuntu13.4
Steps to Reproduce:
/etc/ssh/sshd_config
```
Include /etc/ssh/sshd_config.d/*.conf
Port 22
Port 2
KbdInteractiveAuthentication no
UsePAM yes
X11Forwarding yes
PrintMotd no
AcceptEnv LANG LC_*
Subsystem   sftp/usr/lib/openssh/sftp-server
Match LocalPort 2
PasswordAuthentication no
PubkeyAuthentication yes
```
command:
sudo systemctl daemon-reload && sudo systemctl restart ssh.socket
Expected Behavior:
sshd should listen on both ports 22 and 2.
When connecting via port 2, password login should not be allowed and only
public key authentication should be permitted.
Actual Behavior:
sshd only listens on port 22 and not on port 2. The configuration is
not correctly applied.
After daemon-reload, the output from journalctl is as follows:
$ sudo journalctl -t (sd-exec-
Aug 04 12:47:36 ults (sd-exec-[479259]:
/usr/lib/systemd/system-generators/sshd-socket-generator failed with exit
status 255.
Additional Information:
1.Using sshd -T -C to test the configuration produces the following result:
$ sudo sshd -T -C lport=22 | grep passwordauthentication
passwordauthentication yes
$ sudo sshd -T -C lport=2 | grep passwordauthentication
passwordauthentication no
2.The output when manually running
/usr/lib/systemd/system-generators/sshd-socket-generator is:
$ sudo /usr/lib/systemd/system-generators/sshd-socket-generator ./
'Match LocalPort' in configuration but 'lport' not in connection test
specification.
3.I have test some cases, if sshd-socket-generator can not handle config
rightly, sshd seems to run with default config.
And I also noticed that there is no test case about the Match directive in
https://git.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/tree/debian/tests/sshd-socket-generator.
I guess the root cause of the issue lies in the sshd-socket-generator
not correctly handling the Match directive.
And a detailed assessment of potential security issues which caused by
this bug is needed.
If socket activation is to be widely adopted, this issue will
undoubtedly be a significant stumbling block.
