[Bug 1947820] Re: [SRU] Backport xorg-server 1.20.13 to focal

2021-12-02 Thread Bin Li
I did a test with testing nvidia driver 495.46.run, it will have a lag
issue when use 'on-demand' mode in 'external-only' mode. After enabled
the proposed and did 'apt-dist upgrade', now I use latest xserver-xorg-
core, this issue is fixed now.

xserver-xorg-core:amd64 (2:1.20.11-1ubuntu1~20.04.2, 2:1.20.13-1ubuntu1~20.04.1
xwayland:amd64 (2:1.20.11-1ubuntu1~20.04.2, 2:1.20.13-1ubuntu1~20.04.1)

kernel: 5.14.0.1008.8-oem

[Bug 1953005] [NEW] systemd autopkgtest failures on jammy 5.15 due to cgroup v2 ABI change

2021-12-02 Thread Andrea Righi
Public bug reported:

I'm getting the following errors when running systemd autopkgtest on the
latest Jammy 5.15 Ubuntu kernel:

Received SIGCHLD from PID 2674 (sh).
Child 2674 (sh) died (code=killed, status=13/PIPE)

exec-ioschedulingclass-none.service: Changed dead -> start
PR_SET_MM_ARG_START failed: Operation not permitted

...

FAIL: test-execute

The fact that is failing to read memory.events makes me think that the
expected cgroup wasn't created correctly. I don't see any potential ABI
change in the kernel. I need to investigate more.

[Bug 1936295] Re: Faulty Elantech Trackpoint firmware unusable as it causes sudden cursor jump to an edge/corner on Lenovo Thinkpad X13, T14s, A475 --> Apply kernel patch to mitigate the FW bug

2021-12-02 Thread AaronMa
** Description changed:

  *Problem description:*
  On Lenovo Thinkpad T14s, X13, A475 (and probably more models) the Elantech
Trackpoint firmware is defective. The trackpoint cursor often suddenly jumps to
an edge/corner, because the hardware/firmware sometimes reports wrong
coordinates / loses sync. Currently, the Trackpoint is barely usable and it's
impossible to productively work using it.

  For a long while, Elantech has not yet put forward (nor confirmed) a
  firmware update. However, there is a Linux kernel patch mitigating the
  firmware bug. The kernel bugfix discards the wrongly reported packages
  by the Elantech hardware. This solves the problem for the user.

  *Solution:* Please apply existing kernel patch here.
  https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=209167 Bug entry in the Linux
Kernel.org Bugzilla

bugfix

-
  *T14s and X13 are Ubuntu certified:*
  The Lenovo Thinkpad T14s and X13 are Ubuntu certified, but apparently this
hardware issue has slipped the Ubuntu certification process!

+
+ SRU justification:
+ ==
+ [Impact]
+ The trackpoint cursor often suddenly jumps to an edge/corner, because
+ the hardware/firmware sometimes reports wrong coordinates / loses sync.
+
+ [Fix]
+ Ignore the buggy data reported by Elan TP firmware, make the TP usable.
+
+ [Test]
+ Tested on ThinkPad AMD X13 and users confirm on other platforms.
+
+ [Where problems could occur]
+ It's limited to specific Elan device, it may break the Elan Trackpoint.
+
+ Jammy already got this commit in Ubuntu-5.15.0-12.12

[Bug 1952633] Re: %i token does not expand on 4.13.14+dfsg-0ubuntu0.20.04.2

2021-12-02 Thread Adam Thorn
Hi Athos,

Re-reading your comment #2, you mention seeing generated logfiles at
/var/log/samba/log.$SERVER_IP . I think that means you're using a
different smb.conf to the one I posted, which had

log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m

and so wouldn't generate log files including the server IP in the name.

Is it possible there are other differences in your smb.conf compared to
the one in my description? If you could post the smb.conf you're using
I'd be happy to try that on my test instance to check what behaviour I
see.

[Bug 1953010] [NEW] [snap] WebMIDI not working

2021-12-02 Thread Johannes Feulner
Public bug reported:

WebMIDI does not work when chromium is installed from snap package.
However, it works when installed via apt install.

Chromium version: Version 93.0.4577.82 (Offizieller Build) snap (64-Bit)
Channel: stable
OS Version: Ubuntu 20

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Execute in brower's console

if (navigator.requestMIDIAccess) {
   navigator.requestMIDIAccess({sysex: false})
  .then(m => alert("WebMIDI ready")) .catch(m =>alert("WebMIDI failed"));
 } else {
 alert("Sorry, no WebMIDI support in your browser.");
 }

What is the expected behavior?
alert: WebMIDI ready

What went wrong?
alert: WebMIDI failed, WebMIDI cannot be used at all

Without the catch-clause the error message is:
Uncaught (in promise) DOMException: Platform dependent initialization failed.

Did this work before? Yes Version 90.0.4430.72 (Offizieller Build) Built
on Ubuntu installed via apt install.

[Bug 1953014] [NEW] Return code for unsolicited arping is 1 instead of 0

2021-12-02 Thread Christian Rohmann
Public bug reported:

When running a gratuitous / unsolicited arp via "arping -U" on Ubuntu Focal
a return code of 1 is given, instead of always 0 (as there is no arp reply
expected).

Focal:
--- cut ---
# arping -U -c1 -I eth0 127.0.0.1; echo "ReturnCode: $?"
ARPING 127.0.0.1 from 127.0.0.1 eth0
Sent 1 probes (1 broadcast(s))
Received 0 response(s)
ReturnCode: 1

# arping -V
arping from iputils s20190709
--- cut ---

see corresponding source at
https://github.com/iputils/iputils/blob/13e00847176aa23683d68fce1d17ffb523510946/arping.c#L302.

On Ubuntu Bionic this worked fine (and also does on Ubuntu Hirsute again BTW):
--- cut ---
arping -U -c 1 -I eth0 127.0.0.1; echo "ReturnCode: $?"
ARPING 127.0.0.1 from 127.0.0.1 eth0
Sent 1 probes (1 broadcast(s))
Received 0 response(s)
ReturnCode: 0

# arping -V
arping utility, iputils-s20161105
--- cut ---

see corresponding source for that version at
https://github.com/iputils/iputils/blob/bffc0e957b98d626ab4cea218c89251201425442/arping.c#L329
or for the version on Hirsute at
https://github.com/iputils/iputils/blob/cc16da6b574ce6637f3e6e9ab3c1a728663006ff/arping.c#L302

As you can see by looking at the source arping always statically returns
a "0" for unsolicited.

[Bug 1953018] [NEW] ghostscript breaks asymptote autopkgtest: build fails: GPL Ghostscript 9.55.0: Unrecoverable error, exit code 1

2021-12-02 Thread Graham Inggs
Public bug reported:

Since the upload of ghostscript/9.55.0~dfsg1-0ubuntu1, asymptote's
autopkgtests are failing on armhf. (They've always failed on !armhf in
Ubuntu, possibly due to LTO).

From https://bugs.debian.org/1000781

Dear maintainer(s),

With a recent upload of ghostscript the autopkgtest of asymptote fails
in testing when that autopkgtest is run with the binary packages of
ghostscript from unstable. It passes when run with only packages from
testing. In tabular form:

   passfail
ghostscriptfrom testing9.55.0~dfsg-1
asymptote  from testing2.70+ds-2
all others from testingfrom testing

I copied some of the output at the bottom of this report.

Currently this regression is blocking the migration of ghostscript to
testing [1]. Due to the nature of this issue, I filed this bug report
against both packages. Can you please investigate the situation and
reassign the bug to the right package?

More information about this bug and the reason for filing it can be found on

[Bug 1891643] Re: amavisd-new suggests missing packages

2021-12-02 Thread Paride Legovini
I did some research and found the following upstream issue:

https://gitlab.com/amavis/amavis/-/issues/66

where upstream comments: "ZeroMQ is not a critical feature but optional
and disabled per default anyway". In Debian most recent libzeromq-perl
is:

libzeromq-perl | 0.23-1 | oldoldoldstable | source

and indeed it was remove from testing in 2012 [1]. I agree the Suggests
on missing packages should be dropped, but the change isn't really worth
a delta in Ubuntu.

I'm lowering the Importance of this bug to Wishlist.

[Bug 1888313] Re: amqp-tools port parameter unusable

2021-12-02 Thread Paride Legovini
Thanks @tinodj for working with upstream to get this fixed. Even if
fixed upstream this is still a bug in Ubuntu, ideally to be fixed by
Debian packaging version 0.11.0, and Ubuntu syncing it. Hopefully this
will happen in time for Jammy. Otherwise this is a 1-line patch on a
plate scenario:

[Bug 1950794] Re: DHCPv4 (IAID+DUID) networking broken in LXC containers

2021-12-02 Thread Lukas Märdian
Yes.. LXD's system containers and systemd/udev have a special kind of
relationship and we should strive to resolve that situation properly
long-term. I already talked to stgraber about that, but I guess we
should lay out a proper path forward as continuously patching more and
more components of systemd is not a sustainable approach.

I'll leave that new revert-patch in for now, tho, as we do not have
another short-term solution.

[Bug 1943586] Re: Gthumb crashes when trying to open files exported by Darktable

2021-12-02 Thread Vitalii
Will this be fixed in this century? I slowly moved from Ubuntu 20.04 to
21.10. And in all of those versions, issue persisted. Some time ago I
could just downgrade the version of libexiv2. Now the previous version
is no longer accessible from repo. I can not use my favorite image
viewer, Gthumb. It just crashes on all of my photos exported from
Darktable.

[Bug 1952633] Re: %i token does not expand on 4.13.14+dfsg-0ubuntu0.20.04.2

2021-12-02 Thread Paride Legovini
Hi Adam,

the changes between 4.13.14+dfsg-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 and .2 do not really
touch anything related to the IP address expansion; the change is only
about (not) auto-populating the sambashare unix group at install time.
This is the diff of the packages:

https://launchpadlibrarian.net/570713970/samba_2%3A4.13.14+dfsg-0ubuntu0.20.04.1_2%3A4.13.14+dfsg-0ubuntu0.20.04.2.diff.gz

Let us know if you think this may be in any way related to the problem
you're hitting, but I doubt it. It seem to me that you already double
checked this, but could you please confirm one last time that:

- 4.13.14+dfsg-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 corrently expands %i
- 4.13.14+dfsg-0ubuntu0.20.04.2 does NOT correctly expand %i

on the same system, same config file, and in general same conditions? If
this is the case my suspect will go towards the newer build dependencies
.2 has been built against. In this case we need to prepare a new .1
build done against the newer build deps, and see how it behaves. I know
you already rebuilt samba from source, but here I think we need to
replicate the same build procedure that's used to build the .debs (the
devil is in the details, and there are so many of them).

[Bug 1939347] Re: Ubuntu 20.04 freeze since kernel 5.11

2021-12-02 Thread Joakim Löfgren
With my Dell Latitude 7490 running kernel 5.13.0-22 on Ubuntu 21.10, it
freezes around the login screen.

However, if I boot with my dock (Dell WD15) connected, it seems to work fine.
Until I disconnect the dock... then it freezes a few seconds after.

I tried both of these mainline versions:

https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.14.21/amd64/
https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.15.6/amd64/

I get the same behavior.. only works with dock connected.

I attached the output of "journalctl -k -b -1" for the 5.15.6 boot
without dock.

** Attachment added: "journalctl -k -b -1 for mainline kernel 5.15.6 without

I did a QA-test install of Lubuntu jammy on
- hp dc7700 (c2d-e6320, 5gb, nvidia quadro nvs 290)
earlier today.

On booting the installed system, I get the same error (as expected) on
starting `discover`.

[Bug 1548486] Re: Sleep hook in a subdirectory ignored but causes double execution of previous hook

2021-12-02 Thread Miriam España Acebal
Hi,

I hit this old bug while I was doing some bug clearance.

Upstream closed the bug as won't fix (pretty freeze in upstream... same
stable version since 2011), but on the other hand, 95packagekit was
removed as per [1].

Therefore the bug reported here is still present in Debian/Ubuntu due to
the upstream's no updating work on pm-utils. As per Christian's comment
on #7, the best would be to file the bug in Debian, but I don't know how
effective it would be as there are 104 active bugs there [2] (it seems a
kind orphaned).

Are we in a position to take on a delta in Ubuntu, or is it not worth
it?

[Bug 1953026] [NEW] [RM] Remove from Jammy to unblock ruby3.0 transition

2021-12-02 Thread Lucas Kanashiro
Public bug reported:

The following package are blocking the ruby3.0 transition, and I'd like
to request their removal.

=== ruby-ferret ===

- Upstream project is dead, last commit almost 5 years ago
(https://github.com/jkraemer/ferret)
- Its DEP-8 tests have caused some trouble for us
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ruby-ferret/+bug/1843804)
- Debian is also considering its removal
- It has not reverse dependencies

$ reverse-depends -r jammy ruby-ferret
No reverse dependencies found
$ reverse-depends -b -r jammy ruby-ferret
No reverse dependencies found

=== ruby-psych ===

- It currently FTBFS (against the release pocket)
- It depends on jruby and jruby depends on it. jruby is in a really bad shape,
unmaintained basically. jruby also FTBFS in jammy. My proposal is to also
remove it from the archive for now.

$ reverse-depends -r jammy ruby-psych
Reverse-Depends
* jruby

Packages without architectures listed are reverse-dependencies in: amd64,
arm64, armhf, i386, ppc64el, s390x

$ reverse-depends -r jammy yecht
b'Unknown package'

=== ruby-netcdf ===

- Upstream still does not support ruby3.0 yet
- Debian is giving more time to upstream but it is also in the candidates for
removal list

$ reverse-depends -r jammy ruby-netcdf
Reverse-Recommends
* gis-devel

Packages without architectures listed are reverse-dependencies in: amd64,
arm64, armhf, i386, ppc64el, s390x

 Summary

List of packages to be removed from jammy:

* ruby-ferret
* ruby-psych
  - jruby
  - jruby-maven-plugins

[Bug 1951277] Re: samba panics on client reboot

2021-12-02 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Upstream updated the bug to indicate multichannel is to be disabled in
4.13.

It looks like it's an experimental feature that finally got completed in
4.15, per the release notes.

Since they will not be providing a fix for 4.13, and there is a
workaround for the issue, we are closing this bug.

[Bug 1871794] Re: [Bluetooth] No audio output/input in HSP/HFP mode

2021-12-02 Thread _kai_
Same issue for me: A2DP sink, sound is clear. If it set it as HFP, no
sound and no mic.

Also I notice that the main volume control doesn't affect the volume (it
remains the same and I have to change the volume by using the minus/plus
in the device)

PipeWire didn't solve my issue.

[Bug 1953026] Re: [RM] Remove from Jammy to unblock ruby3.0 transition

2021-12-02 Thread Lucas Kanashiro
FWIW ruby-defaults/1:2.7.6 looks good in the excuses page, my idea is to
finish the rebuilds [1] and then upload a new version of ruby-defaults
disabling ruby2.7 and making ruby3.0 the default. The ruby3.0 MIR is
also ongoing.

You might be seeing some other ruby packages stuck in proposed but those
are related to the rails version bump, I'd like to fix it later if it
does not get in the way of the ruby3.0 transition (according to the
excuses page it is not blocking ruby-defaults so it should not be a
problem for now).

[Bug 1953030] [NEW] pathMTU tuning needs parameter tcp_mtu_probe_ceiling

2021-12-02 Thread Bernhard Riegler
Public bug reported:

I found the parameter tcp_mtu_probe_floor
I need an additional parameter tcp_mtu_probe_ceiling

why ?
If the tcp-connection goes only in a broadcast domain
 (no IPv4 router in between, sending ICMP frag needed)
the pathMTU algorithm goes crasy.

I have 2 nodes IPv4 10.0.0.2 (ethernet cable) and 10.0.0.4 (802.11n)
testing with "iperf3 -s -i 5" as server on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (10.0.0.2)
and ANDROID12 "MAGIC iperf3" as client (iperf3 -c 10.0.0.2 -t 22 -i 5 -P 1 -Z
-O 5)
(10.0.0.4)

monitoring with wireshark shows ip packets with ip.len 65212 and tcp flags
push,ack.
this does not work with the HW buffers of the LANIC,
therefore a reqest a control with parameter "tcp_mtu_probe_ceiling"

** Affects: kernel-package (Ubuntu)
