[Bug 1906720] Re: Fix the disable_ssl_certificate_validation option
Please add a regression analysis as required by https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#Procedure. In particular, please take some steps here to make sure that we don't accidentally disable certificate validation across the board - since that would have severe consequences, we're messing with "should we check the certificate" code, and the problem wouldn't be detected just by checking this bug is fixed. That's the most obvious possible issue to me, but please consider and add anything else relevant. ** Changed in: python-httplib2 (Ubuntu Bionic) Status: In Progress => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1906720 Title: Fix the disable_ssl_certificate_validation option To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-httplib2/+bug/1906720/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1878041] Re: installation fails creating user on large multipath system - multipathd show command times out in curtin log with 163 paths
Hi, can you try again with suiquity-channel=edge/lp1878041 please? If it fails, and it's possible, can you attach the .crash file here? Error reports to the tracker get truncated in ways that make them a bit less useful for this sort of thing (it is also hard to find a specific report). [Bug 1911463] Re: Can no longer successfully download Flash during postinst
hm, I actually don't like the new version numbering - it is very confusing. Since this is a straight backport of 1.8.8, suddenly using 1.8.7ubuntuX.Y.1 seems weird - this implies that this is based on 1.8.7, which it is not (as the changelog entry only mentions a straight backport). In such cases where 1.8.8ubuntuX.Y.1 can't be used, I think Gunnar's 1.8.8~ubuntuX.Y.1 is the proper way to go. [Bug 1912464] [NEW] Minor release upgrade - 19.11.6
Public bug reported: Hi, now that DPDK 20.11 is properly in Ubuntu 21.04 it is time to consider backporting the fixes to our active releases. As usual upstream provides LTS minor releases for their .11 versions. Due to some delay by no more doing every interim release in -dev (only.11 are worthwhile to be considered by dependent projects) and due to some CVEs in 19.11.3-0ubuntu0.2 this has accumulated quite some changes. This bug tracks an update for the DPDK packages in: - Focal 19.11.3 -> 19.11.6 - Groovy 19.11.5 -> 19.11.6 Ready as of late December 2020. 17.11.x (Bionic) is no more getting such releases by upstream and 20.11 (Hirsute) is new and up to date. This update includes bugfixes only following the SRU policy exception defined at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates/DPDK. No new features added, a classic stable release with a bunch of fixes aggregated and enhanced testing by the companies being part of the DPDK community. After removing again ubuntu-desktop-minimal and all its dependencies, and reinstalling the snap, the snap still works, so the root of the problem is not really a missing dependency, but more likely user files/folders created when installing those packages or when installing the snap (configure hook maybe). ** Summary changed: - [snap] chromium headless crashes in revision 1424 + [snap] chromium headless crashes at startup on non-desktop system ** Changed in: chromium-browser (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1908284 Title: [snap] chromium headless crashes at startup on non-desktop system To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1908284/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1899288] Re: Python3 can't co-exist with Oracle's VirtualBox on 20.10
Still true of the deb packages provided by upstream for Virtualbox 6.1.18. The problem is really with the packaging on their side which does not target ubuntu 20.10. In fact, they say so by indicating that they have a deb up to 19.10 and 20.04. I guess there is little that ubuntu can do if Virtualbox does not want to package a deb for ubuntu 20.10 that is not an LTS. Most likely, they'll stick to 20.04 and start supporting newer ubuntu at 21.10 in preparation for the 22.04 LTS release. On the other hand, I believe that ubuntu could help a lot here by making the current virtualbox always available in testing version on a PPA. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1899288 Title: Python3 can't co-exist with Oracle's VirtualBox on 20.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dh-python/+bug/1899288/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Sean: What you quoted is the part that tells apt to not remove kernel _meta_ packages. [Bug 1907421] Re: [UBUNTU 21.04] vfio: pass DMA availability information to userspace
Hi Matthew, I'm updating the hirsute entry to Fix Committed, since the 5.10 kernel is in hirsute-proposed and the requested patch is included: Ubuntu-5.10.0-12.13 v5.10 So we are good with 21.04/hirsute. And it's great that see that you've managed to get it accepted via upstream stable, since this provides a lot of confidence about the fix that we need for an LTS SRU - and since we have a process in place to pick up stable (upstream) updates, that will find (semi-automatically) it's way into 20.04/focal's Ubuntu kernel 5.4 soon. So this is highly appreciated. However, to avoid any regression for people who upgrade from an Ubuntu release n to n+1 (in this case 20.04/focal to 20.10/groovy) one requirement of our SRU process is to get the patches in to the Ubuntu releases/kernels starting from newest to the oldest Ubuntu release the patch needs to be applied to. Hence me trying to get the patch applied to the groovy master-next tree, based on kernel 5.8, which failed (LP comment #2) (since we knew it's already in 5.10 which is the target for 21.04). Well, I can retry to apply the patch to groovy master-next, since the groovy master-next tree evolved over time, but I guess it still does not apply - hence me asking for a backport (#2) Btw. even if 5.8.y ran out of upstream stable support, we still look at the 5.9.y stable updates for inclusion into 5.8. So tagging the fix for stable 5.9.y would be an option, too. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Hirsute) Status: In Progress => Fix Committed ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Focal) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed ** Changed in: ubuntu-z-systems Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1907421 Title: [UBUNTU 21.04] vfio: pass DMA availability information to userspace To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-z-systems/+bug/1907421/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

> We should look out for potential regressions when connecting to servers with exclusive IPv4 or IPv6 connectivity, to make sure the server is not getting marked as 'dead' due to missing one of the versions. +1. Please do this during SRU verification, as well as checking that dual stack works as expected. I accept though that the code path being added is only when errno == EAFNOSUPPORT so scope for regression is very limited. The Hirsute release pocket currently has 2.2.20-1ubuntu1, same as Groovy. So I can't accept 2.2.20-1ubuntu1 into Groovy, since then the Hirsute release pocket would be a lower version than what is in Groovy. I suggest you use 2.2.20-1ubuntu1.20.10.1 based on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SecurityTeam/UpdatePreparation#Update_the_packaging. Alternatively this problem will be resolved as soon as 2.2.20-1ubuntu2 in hirsute-proposed migrates. Please fix the Groovy upload, or otherwise ping when fixed. I see no reason to block right now on accepting the Focal upload, but it would be nice to get both into proposed and then released at once, so users don't regress when upgrading from Focal to Groovy. ** Changed in: gnupg2 (Ubuntu Focal) Status: In Progress => Fix Committed ** Changed in: gnupg2 (Ubuntu Groovy) Status: In Progress => Incomplete ** Tags added: verification-needed verification-needed-focal -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1910432 Title: dirmngr doesn't work with kernel parameter ipv6.disable=1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnupg2/+bug/1910432/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1907421] Re: [UBUNTU 21.04] vfio: pass DMA availability information to userspace
Hi, You also mentioned qemu in the description, I think what is related (by title and it has your name) is the following series + one fixup: 77280d33b s390x: fix build for --without-default-devices 37fa32de70 s390x/pci: Honor DMA limits set by vfio cd7498d07f s390x/pci: Add routine to get the vfio dma available count 7486a62845 vfio: Find DMA available capability 3ab7a0b40d vfio: Create shared routine for scanning info capabilities 408b55db8b s390x/pci: Move header files to include/hw/s390x 53ba2eee52 linux-headers: update against 5.10-rc1 84567ea763 update-linux-headers: Add vfio_zdev.h That is in qemu 5.2 - and if that "is it" then in Hirsute things are already fixed by now. But that is quite a list and for backports we will need to reduce that to the minimum that is needed. Did you check if you can (or have even a branch somewhere) backport these on top of 4.2 and/or 5.0 ? [Bug 1912248] Re: virtualenv on xenial: easy_install syntax error
This is being tracked in setuptools upstream too https://github.com/pypa/setuptools/issues/2541 The cause is that python-virtualenv is pulling in setuptools 51.3.3 `virtualenv -p /usr/bin/python3 venv/py3 --verbose` ``` snip... [Bug 1908119] Re: Update and SRU 1.90.8
> Security team was happy to have this in, but we preferred to go through the SRU process in order to have better regression analysis. That's pretty convincing, since a security update would trump the SRU process anyway. And it does make sense to use the SRU process for time to bake in proposed, a more visible opportunity for users to flag issues, and so forth. However, I want to make sure that we don't end up in a gap where the security team think that the SRU team consider it fine and the SRU team think that the security team think it's fine so nobody actually gives it the necessary consideration for regression risk. [Bug 1891810] Re: Missing openat2 syscall, causes problems for fuse-overlayfs in nspawn containers
OK, this is getting complicated. seccomp 2.5.0 and systemd-nspawn both have bugs which when combined cause most/all syscall filters to actually be disabled! See https://github.com/seccomp/libseccomp/issues/273#issuecomment-668458070 So I think your new packages are probably OK, but as they pull in 2.5.1 my system is breaking because the version of systemd-nspawn I'm using (default version from focal) is apparently still old enough not to include openat2() (Yes, reading upthread it seems I knew all of this in August and have managed to forget it over the last few months!) [Bug 1910537] Re: HDMI audio not working on Blackmagic Design ATEM Mini Pro ISO (video mixer)
I think I've found the problem. @Uldis: please check and verify It doesn't work with a video with Channel(s) : 1 channel Channel layout : C Sampling rate: 44.1 kHz but it works when playing a video with Channel(s) : 2 channels Sampling rate: 48.0 kHz So maybe it's the sampling rate. Probably Linux outputs a sampling rate conforming with the current source, and the ATEM seems to expect 48kHz, while accepting everything on HDMI1, but getting it scrambled and distorted, since there's not enough data (8% missing), while the input on HDMI2-4 simply doesn't match the expectations. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1910537 Title: HDMI audio not working on Blackmagic Design ATEM Mini Pro ISO (video mixer) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1910537/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1912491] [NEW] Incorrect processing of network name and time messages from operator leads to multiple issues
Public bug reported: Ubuntu version: 20.04.1 LTS modemmanager version: 1.12.8-1 modem-manager-gui version: 0.0.19.1-2 What I expected to happen: SMSes in the GUI have correct timestamps; the operator name is reported correctly in the GUI; USSD communications work correctly in the GUI and through the mmcli interface. What is actually happening: SMSes in the GUI have no timestamps; the operator name disappears from the GUI; USSD communications randomly fail both in the GUI and on the commandine. I understand that the maintainers of this package are not responsible for the GUI application, but below I explain my rationale for filing this bug against this package and why I think these issues are related. I use modemmanager and modem-manager-gui to manage a GSM modem in my Thinkpad. In 18.04 everything worked correctly, but since I upgraded to 20.04 I have noticed multiple issues which I believe may have the same underlying cause: 1. Received SMSes logged in modem-manager-gui no longer have timestamps. This may be the same issue as is reported here in the Fedora package, since the upstream version appears to be the same: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1839752 2. When I start up modem-manager-gui, I can see the operator name displayed correctly in the info tab, but after some time it disappears, and I see "Searching" as the value in the "Registration" field. 3. This is the most critical issue and the primary reason that I'm reporting this. When I interact with any USSD menu, I experience intermittent "Invalid USSD message received" errors which disrupt any sufficiently long chain of USSD interactions and make it near-impossible to complete certain tasks via USSD. It's only through extensive trial and error that I found that sometimes it's possible to retry the same reply successfully, although this is very sensitive to timeouts. After initially observing this behaviour in modem-manager-gui I tried to use the mmcli interface on the commandline to access these USSD menus, and found the same erratic behaviour. This is why I'm filing this bug against the modemmanager package. The exact error messages are always in this format: error: couldn't send response in USSD session: 'GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.ModemManager1.Error.Core.Failed: Invalid USSD message received: '^NWNAME: "MTN-SA","","65510" ^NWTIME: 21/01/20,13:13:31+08,0'' My layperson's hypothesis is that these are messages from the operator containing the name of the network and the system time of the network, but modemmanager is not expecting them and therefore not processing them correctly for some reason, which is why 1) the network name and time is not being set in modem-manager-gui and 2) USSD communications are being disrupted by unexpected messages. I'd be happy to help to debug this further if there is any other information that I can provide. ** Affects: modemmanager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1912491 Title: Incorrect processing of network name and time messages from operator leads to multiple issues To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/modemmanager/+bug/1912491/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
