[Bug 1834047] Re: External monitor not recognised

2019-06-25 Thread Daniel van Vugt
OK, thanks.

Yes I can now see one 1920x1080 display is connected via eDP (laptop) to
the Intel GPU.

I can't tell which GPU the external monitor is wired to. Sometimes
laptops will wire an external port to the Nvidia GPU and sometimes they
are wired to the Intel GPU like the laptop screen is.

One immediate problem I can see is that the Nvidia X driver is not
loaded so if any ports were connected to the Nvidia GPU then those
monitors would indeed be missing...

Please try reinstalling the Nvidia driver using this command in a
terminal:

  sudo apt install --reinstall nvidia-driver-418

and then reboot.

[Bug 1021375] Re: Nautilus says the USB stick is read only when it is not

2019-06-25 Thread li
I see that many people say that killall nautilus works for them but it
doesn't change anything for me. Perhaps someone could spell out the
exact sequence of actions so that I can make sure that I am the problem?

What I am doing right now is
insert USB
try to paste something into it using nautilus (same with using terminal
though), see that it's read only.
run killall nautilus in terminal.
(restart or not, I've tried both)
nautilus window disappears.
I try to copy something onto the USB again using Nautilus
still doesn't work.

What am I doing wrong?
I am working on 16.04.6 LTS

Thanks!

2019-06-25 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Also needs 8cf108c5 linux-headers: add linux/mman.h.
  Update it to 4.20-rc1
To have them matching as-is, the rest applies fine.

I don't have a machine with all those facilities - can this already be
tested when I have a preliminary build or do we rely on "if applied as
upstream things should be fine"?

Hi Kai-Heng,

Thank you for sharing an update. Would you mind helping me understand how
to proceed? I simply tried executing "git://
git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-kernel-test/ubuntu/+source/linux/+git/mainline-crack
v5.2-rc6" in the command line." on the terminal.
Sorry if I misinterpreted anything.

[Bug 1834058] Re: Keyboard layout indicator vanishes after Suspend or Screenlock

2019-06-25 Thread hpp23
Uninstalling all Gnome extensions doesn't make any difference. Before
January 2019 everything worked as expected - with or without extensions.
The above described bug came up at around Jan 10 2019, and was never
fixed. The fix of bug 1812266 didn't change anything to the better.

[Bug 1816394] Re: Ubuntu 19.04/19.10 qa:test - suspended system resumed without audio (fixed with pavucontrol toggle)

2019-06-25 Thread Chris Guiver
test system: d780 (installed lubuntu 19.04)

grub owned by 19.10 (lubuntu)

19.04 dist-upgraded; rebooted
-- grub updated on 19.10 system

19.04 booted, login & music playing via clementine

** for control/comparison, suspend/resume now

- suspend 1, wait ~20 secs, resume, alas no sound.
fix sound using pavucontrol ..
// i didn't expect it to occur first try..

sudo apt update; all up-to-date
add -proposed (main) to sources; apt update (37)
sudo apt dist-upgrade, inc. 5.0.0-20.21 kernel

reboot, load 19.10
update-grub (in 19.10/owner of grub)
reboot

19.04, check kernel: neofetch says 5.0.0-20-generic
clementine playing music

fix sound using pavucontrol ..
- suspend 2, wait ~30 secs, resume, alas no sound.
fix sound using pavucontrol ..

- suspend 6, wait ~40 secs, resume & sound
- suspend 7, wait ~40 secs, resume & sound
- suspend 8, wait ~30 secs, resume & sound
 8 resumes, 6 with sound, 2 no-sound

Statistically it's an improvement, but I think the testing shows not-
fixed sorry. The issue has never been predictable (at least not to me)
and I still had 2 failures with -proposed.

If flaws in my testing can be found - please notify me.
My 'primary' box has 19.10 on it, thus the use of d780.

[Bug 1834095] Re: update-grub fails on zfs with root and boot datasets

2019-06-25 Thread Didier Roche
Hey, thanks for reporting this bug and help to make ubuntu better.

Can you please post the following so that we can debug what went wrong. Outputs
of:
* zpool list
* zfs list
for each dataset:
* zfs get all

That way, we can find why your datasets and boot pools were not detected
and add a test case for it.

Also, the output of update-grub would be excellent to ensure there was
no failure.

[Bug 1834138] Re: PA: can't auto switch streams between different sinks

2019-06-25 Thread Hui Wang
** Description changed:

- If the output devices are on different sinks, PA can't auto switch
- streams on them
+ On the Lenovo P52 machine, there are dual analogue codecs: the 1st one
+ contains the speaker and front headphone, the 2nd one contains the rear
+ lineout.
+
+ As there are two codecs, there are 2 sinks in the PA, the one sink has
+ speaker and headphone, the other one has the lineout
+
+ Supposing users play music via totem (gnome app) and neither front
+ headphone nor rear lineout is plugged, the sound will comes out from
+ speaker. While the music is playing, if users plug a headphone into the
+ front headphone, the headphone will show up in the gonme-sound-setting
+ and the speaker will disappear, and the sound will change to heapdhone
+ from speaker, so the steam auto swtiches from speaker to headphone
+ because both speaker and headphone belong to the same PA sink. But while
+ the music is playing, if users plug a headphone into the rear lineout
+ jack, the lineout will show up in the gnome-sound-setting and the
+ speaker will disappear too, but the sound will not switch to lineout, it
+ keeps staying in the speaker even the UI shows the speaker is relaced by
+ lineout. it doesn't auto switch just because the speaker belongs to one
+ sink and the lineout belongs to the other.
+
+ When this issue happens, if users want the sound comes out from lineout,
+ users have to close the totem and re-run the toem to make the sound come
+ out from lineout. This is not user friendly.

It is yet unclear if there is an issue in the userspace tools, hence I
made the sibling bug a dup and added the tools as a task here marked as
incomplete for now.

As I mentioned providing the extra kernel data might help to get the

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1809748 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1809748

I agree that this looks much more like a kernel bug.
You could have added a task here - but I'll make it a dup so that overall only
bug 1809748 to look at.

There as a hint I think the kernel Team usually wants tha automated
report adding the exact versions as you were asked in the bot comment
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1809748/comments/2

Providing this there might help to get it finally started.

[Bug 1833781] Re: backport mod_reqtimeout with handshake support

2019-06-25 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
This looks like a feature request to me, is there a bug that would make
this SRUable since you added a xenial diff?

Further it is quite some code and due to that more regression risk - so
without a broken use case that will be hard.

I'd ask you to provide a full SRU template [1] before going on with it.

[Bug 1833866] Re: package openssh-server 1:7.2p2-4ubuntu2.8 failed to install/upgrade: el subproceso instalado el script post-installation devolvió el código de salida de error 1

2019-06-25 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Since it seems likely to me that this is a local configuration problem,
rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I'm marking this bug as Incomplete.

If indeed this is a local configuration problem, you can find pointers
to get help for this sort of problem here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community

Or if you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it
helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem,
explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem
specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New.

2019-06-25 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Hi Daniel,
the call to "sshd -T" checks the configuration before (re)starting the server.
This failing implies that your sshd config (mostly in /etc/ssh/sshd_config) has
issues and is broken due to that.

If you are unsure you might want to re-install configuration files
cleanly [1] but for openssh-server in your case.

[Bug 1832210] Re: incorrect decode of log prefix under python 3

2019-06-25 Thread James Page
Ubuntu SRU information

[Impact]
netfilter based firewall logging does not correctly identify the log prefix
resulting in lack of mapping from netfilter log messages to neutron ports.

[Test Case]
Deploy OpenStack
Enabled firewall-group logging (~openstack-charmers-next feature)
Create instance and firewall-group for SSH access.
Access instance via SSH
(original bug report unknown cookie message seen).

[Regression Potential]
Minimal; the safe_encode function used to ensure that the log prefix is
correctly decoded has been well used and tested across OpenStack.

** Summary changed:

- incorrect decode of log prefix under python 3
+ fwaas netfilter_log: incorrect decode of log prefix under python 3
