[Bug 1814832] Re: Correct and/or improve handling of certain quiesced snapshot failures
Hey Oliver, TL;DR: sorry, but please test it from proposed (again) in Bionic&Cosmic. Detail: Unfortunately this is not how it works. I'd want to mark it verified per your request, but I know that this will raise SRU-Team-Eyebrows and not be released. I'm in fact already in discussion for a couple of cases where people pre-tested on PPAs and we later released as SRU which means they need to be verified again for the final releasing. The problem is the tradeoff on non-trivial bugs, you want: - provide something to test for the reporter ASAP - be able to iterate on alternatives - run more tests and tests by different parties - all of the above you want to do without yet polluting -proposed (as there other builds could depend on it, it could break other proposed testing, ...) => This is what a PPA is used for most of the times. But due to the above that usually means we end up with a change tested and verified from a PPA that will then in this way be proposed as SRU (same code + some paperwork). There the process requires that this final build shall be verified (yes - again). This mostly comes from the past were people didn't pre-check with PPAs, but also is needed to cover any gap as the testing of the PPAs might have been: - weeks ago - ran with other dependencies at the time but would fail now - built with other dependencies at the time - only one release was tested but the SRU covers multiple But for the above and more it usually is worth and by the process required to re-test the versions in proposed. I've had a few such cases in the past now and I have started discussing alternatives, which so far all come down to do the tradeoffs above at a different place - or to have the SRU process accept verifications with identical builds (as in this case). But there seems to be no easy best answer. Resolving that is a long term effort ending in adaption of the SRU or Developers process - nothing that is done in a minute. Until all of that is resolved, I'd really ask you to re-test the case as built in Bionic/Cosmic-proposed and I hope that is not too much of a burden/effort for you. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1814832 Title: Correct and/or improve handling of certain quiesced snapshot failures To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/open-vm-tools/+bug/1814832/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1804329] Re: lubuntu 19.04 daily - pcmanfm-qt (dolphin..) moves window position on opening device, folders or adjust size of windows (when on 2nd display only with vertical placement)
** Description changed: QA-test of Lubuntu 19.04 (x86_64) on "hp 8200 elite sff (i5-2400, 8gb, nvidia quadro 600)" and I'm getting lots of strange behavior on windows.. this for now will cover the first noticed. I have two monitors, both 1920x1080 in vertical arrangement (one above the other). I boot 'live' image, and then navigate to preferences->LXQt.settings->Monitor.settings then select 'Set position tab'. Here I move the display that for me starts as the default-right (called DP-1 on this box) so it's positioned below the originally-left-positioned monitor (DVI-I-1 its called on this box). - monitor1 refers to the default-left monitor as the system boots, or what becomes my 'top' - monitor2 refers to the default-right monitor I've moved to lower position early in description two monitors; 'main' is the top (how its connected), secondary is below and slightly left.. With pcmanfm-qt somewhere near middle of monitor2, I was exploring my hdd & opened a partition and the window moves. The pcmanfm-qt window jumped, and now top of it [window] is on monitor1 (top) and most on monitor2. I drag it back to all on monitor2 and pick another partition - it MOVEs again (this was repeated, each time I moved it to anywhere fully on monitor2 it warped to top being on monitor1, and most of monitor2 if I selected a suse partition (data or system). IF however i had the window fully on monitor1 (my top) it would stay put & wouldn't move. I would get the strange behavior on switch to EITHER SUSE partition. It would sometimes move if I selected a fedora partition (sys or data), but ALWAYS did it for SUSE (if windows was fully on monitor2) -- I already had terminal open, so switched started `ubuntu-bug pcmanfm- qt` which has led to this report... I hadn't taken photos so I took some (which will be added). ubuntu-bug opened firefox & firefox window opens strangely on monitor2 (another pic; i may add to this, or another bug, another pic), then to get specs of machine ctrl-alt-T & term-opens mostly-off-screen (monitor1). all I suspect are related due I think to my monitor setup/positioning, but I'll deal with pcmanfm-qt first I'll file the other strange window behavior in another bug, as I'm getting strange behavior (described above) in pcmanfm-qt on choosing partitions that sometimes causes the jump, sometimes no (eg. not always does it jump when I select a fedora partition? but suse partition appears to always cause jump). strange window behavior reported on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openbox/+bug/1804337 note: as stated elsewhere, if that is fixed, this bug report becomes moot as it'd not be noticed (ie. inconsistent behavior in pcmanfm-qt on switching devices (partitions) - so what if it redraws; I only noticed due to screen position changes!) More significantly I got so annoyed with pcmanfm-qt that I `sudo apt install dolphin` & started using `dolphin`. Dolphin running on the Lubuntu 19.04 daily 'live' ISO exhibits the same behavior - so my classification of this as a pcmanfm-qt issue has to be incorrect! [Bug 1809201] Re: lubuntu 19.04 two displays, programs maximized uses only part of 2nd display
** Description changed: 19.04 daily image QA testing x86 & x86_64 Added additional info: this bug was originally discovered on x86 & concentrates on firefox. It occurs on other programs/windows (eg. qterminal, pcmanfm-qt) and occurs on other systems (hp 8200 x86_64 qa-test, d980 x86_64 test & more...) BIG NOTE: on original x86 dell latitude d610 the monitors were left-right configuration, on x86_64 it only occurs (more recently) on a vertical configuration; maybe a different issue, but the effect [from my [user] perspective] is the same... --- end additional added info. dell d610 laptop, with external vga monitor setup as display-to-right of laptop (vga external has higher resolution than internal laptop display) firefox on laptop monitor maximizes as expected. when firefox window is on external monitor, it uses all the width, but only 2/3rds of vertical landscape of display, where I'd expect/hope it would use all of display. // i've noted this before, but I didn't see lp bug report, sorry if duplicate // but could also be just in notes in qa-testing comments attached screen shows firefox window was drawn to height of htop window (htop being on laptop's lower resolution internal display), and the wasted/unused space on 2nd monitor as background (for 2nd display - laptop doesn't have this). This bug is low importance, I can re-size manually to use space, and I don't believe I have the issue where both screens have the same resolution (from memory; I can confirm/re-test if worthwhile). [Bug 1814490] Re: lubuntu 19.04 xscreensaver runs on single display, other display continues normally
** Description changed: Lubuntu 19.04 [x86_64] installed system (upgraded from 18.04 85 days ago) - addendums: 1: package suggestion by krytarik on #lubuntu-devel 2: possibly duplicate; & my reason why no (but linked for sure!) 3: occurs on QA-test of 19.04 daily 1:--- added re: package As for package - xscreensaver may not be culprit. It works perfectly on 18.04 Lubuntu (see comment #3 & #4 which tested prior & current package), and if I login via XFCE (Xubuntu) on same box (my install has both; comment #1). I tested killing lxqt-powermanagement which made no difference (comment #5) where it was suggested Okay, then I'd say just stick lxqt-session to the bug report too and see how it proceeds. :P 2: --- possible duplicate? I just discovered https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lubuntu-meta/+bug/1807665 which was for a 19.04 x86 QA-test on a laptop. I'm not marking it a duplicate as this system was installed 85+ days ago & yet I only discovered this issue now! If it were a straight duplicate I'd hope I'd have noticed it before now & seen connection with that prior bug.. On that other bug I noted I hadn't experienced it on any installed system, where now I have... 3:--- qa-test using daily image I booted today's daily image on different box which has two displays; at first it was good (displays next to each other horizontally). I adjusted position so they were vertically placed (like they are for that box, and this reporting box the bug-report relates to). I could re-create bug by using 'monitor settings' to a vertical placement & letting screensaver run. --- (end of addendum material) When the screensaver takes effect, both displays go dim & go black for maybe a second then one shows screensaver, the other returns to normal display. If i have windows (hexchat, htop/glances running) on the non-screensaver displaying window, those contents continue to receive updates allowing me to see new incoming messages in hexchat, or view the process info in htop/glances on a qterminal window. I logged out & tried same in XFCE and it blacked both screens the same, but then showed xscreensaver images on each display (not the same image, each with its own 'image'). My system has lubuntu-desktop & xubuntu- desktop intalled. I returned to Lubuntu & re-tested and it was the same (one display showing screensaver, one resuming active windows) To replicate: - login to Lubuntu 19.04 (on system with two displays) - have windows open on both displays, eg. htop so you can view detail change - change screensaver prefers to blank after 1 min, then wait as screensaver takes effect, both will dim, then one will display screensaver, other will return to displaying the window it was before with information (htop etc) updating as if unlocked. i tried `ubuntu-bug xscreensaver` & it ran apport, then returned to $ prompt without browser to enter this window. this is my main desktop; x86_64 or dell [optiplex] 960 (c2q-q9400, 8gb, amd/ati cedar radeon hd 5000/6000/7350/8350) on that rare occasion I use it for qa-testing. this though was my installed normal system (so likely heavily modified) guiverc@d960-ubu2:~$ apt-cache policy xscreensaver xscreensaver: Installed: 5.42+dfsg1-1ubuntu1 Candidate: 5.42+dfsg1-1ubuntu1 Version table: *** 5.42+dfsg1-1ubuntu1 500 500 http://ftp.iinet.net.au/pub/ubuntu disco/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status guiverc@d960-ubu2:~$ uptime 14:36:44 up 2:23, 1 user, load average: 0.71, 0.76, 0.81 (the system was updated fully & has been restarted after updates) --- 2019-04-11 - This is not a Lubuntu only issue. - I recently installed opensuse tumbleweed over a sick leap install on my - hp 8200 elite sff (i5-2400, 8gb, nvidia quadro 600) box - and it - exhibits the identical behavior when using LXQt. + I recently installed opensuse tumbleweed over a sick leap install on my hp 8200 elite sff (i5-2400, 8gb, nvidia quadro 600) box - and it exhibits the identical behavior when using LXQt. + https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1132184 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1814490 Title: lubuntu 19.04 xscreensaver runs on single display, other display continues normally To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxqt-session/+bug/1814490/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1812342] Re: lubuntu 19.04 - pcmanfm-qt menu won't show on 2nd display
I'm sure I had experienced this on my recent opensuse tumbleweed install (on 8200 box). In trying to re-create it for bugzilla (opensuse) report, I could no longer get it to occur, so have removed the mention in description & make only this comment. ** Description changed: Lubuntu 19.04 QA-Test hp 8200 elite sff (i5-2400, 8gb, nvidia quadro 600) I have two monitors, both 1920x1080 in vertical arrangement (one above the other). I boot 'live' image, and then navigate to preferences->LXQt.settings->Monitor.settings then second 'Set position tab'. Here I move the display that for me starts as the default-right (called DP-1 on this box) so it's positioned directly below the originally-left-positioned monitor (DVI-I-1 its called on this box). If pcmanfm-qt is on primary monitor, it behaves as expected. If I click a menu item (file, edit, view, go etc) the menu shows and functions. If however the pcmanfm-qt is moved to the second monitor, the menu doesn't show. I do however get a white line (a few pixels high I'd guess) across both the top of 2nd monitor, and bottom of primary or upper monitor. This pixel-behavior varies if you select file/edit/view/go etc. If you click bookmarks/tool/help on pcmanfm-qt it's small & white but full-width white for file/edit/view/go. [Bug 1824151] Re: each() got depricated in latest PHP
Thanks for your report. We will have to ensure php-pear >=1.4.2 is in before php8, and this will likely happen in Ubuntu 19.10. For existing Ubuntu releases the deprecation warning is correct but we think it is not a problem for now, as it has been there since php 7.2.0 (i.e. since Ubuntu 18.04). For this reason I'm marking this bug as "Won't Fix". [Bug 1822883] Re: linux: 3.13.0-169.219 -proposed tracker
There was disagreement on whether this packaging only build should release. Since the ESM date for Trusty seems to be April-19, it would be too late for normal release anyway. So we keep this in -proposed to have testing but will not release any further. That way we get some testing coverage for the packaging only changes and can include those in the next real ESM release. ** Tags added: kernel-block-proposed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1822883 Title: linux: 3.13.0-169.219 -proposed tracker To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/kernel-sru-workflow/+bug/1822883/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1824227] Re: console-setup failure due to race with systemd-tmpfiles
This bug was fixed in the package console-setup - 1.178ubuntu12 --- console-setup (1.178ubuntu12) disco; urgency=medium * setupcon: use /run for tempfiles (and dump the various unnecessary fallback paths), since /run is always mountable rw at least as early as /tmp is and is guaranteed to be safe from tmpcleaners at boot. Only keep /tmp as a fallback in case we have access to write to /tmp and to a console, but not to /run. [Bug 1773859] Re: upgrades to 18.04 fail
This worked for me in quite a few upgrades. Before starting the upgrade to 18.04, still on 16.04: mv /usr/share/dbus-1/system-services/org.freedesktop.systemd1.service{,.bak} apt purge systemd-shim It does not work in the opposite order! [Bug 1815910] Re: Apparmor blocks access to /dev/vhost-net
Thanks Jamie for providing an approach that is a compromise between upstreams needs and Ubuntu as a downstream - as well as at the same time being a tradeoff between comfort and security. I'll implement this as a downstream change in 19.10: - add the comment to the config (thanks for writing it up) - change the code to allow it in any case But for older releases I'd decide that we don't want to change this through an SRU. There the solution for users who depend on it to add /dev/vhost-net rw, to If existing (>= 18.10) /etc/apparmor.d/local/abstractions/libvirt-qemu or otherwise to /etc/apparmor.d/abstractions/libvirt-qemu ** Also affects: libvirt (Ubuntu Disco) Importance: Undecided Status: In Progress ** Also affects: libvirt (Ubuntu Ee-series) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: libvirt (Ubuntu Ee-series) Status: New => Triaged ** Changed in: libvirt (Ubuntu Disco) Status: In Progress => Won't Fix ** Changed in: libvirt (Ubuntu Cosmic) Status: Triaged => Won't Fix ** Changed in: libvirt (Ubuntu Bionic) Status: Triaged => Won't Fix ** Tags added: libvirt-19.10 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1815910 Title: Apparmor blocks access to /dev/vhost-net To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/charm-nova-compute/+bug/1815910/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1818985] Re: segfault in libmysqlclient when reconnecting using QMYSQL
Thanks. I additionally had to edit /etc/mysql/mysql.conf.d/mysqld.cnf and adjust "bind-address". Unfortunately I couldn't reproduce the crash. I do however get a hang after it prints the variables and says "Done". You might try adding debug symbol packages (follow https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Debug%20Symbol%20Packages and install mysql- server-core-5.7-dbgsym) to get a more useful core dump. Unfortunately I think I've now spent more time on this than warranted, so I'll have to leave you to see if you can isolate the problem further. If it does turn out to be a bug in Ubuntu, please explain and set the bug status back to New. FWIW, I suspect the problem is likely to be in Qt's MySQL library, or in the way it's being used, rather than MySQL itself. ** Changed in: mysql-5.7 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1818985 Title: segfault in libmysqlclient when reconnecting using QMYSQL To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mysql-5.7/+bug/1818985/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1775427] Re: [MIR] mailman3 to replace mailman, or drop mailman to universe and off server iso
** Description changed: [Availability] The package is already universe for quite a while and build/works fine so far. It is for example already used for https://lists.canonical.com/mailman3/postorius/lists/ This source builds only docs and mailman3 itself (which provides mailman3-core). [Rationale] This is part of the MIR activity for all dependencies of mailman3 The "main" MIR of it is at bug 1775427: Mailman (2) has only python2 support, but we strive for python3, therefore Mailman3 which has python3 support should be promoted to main. This is an evolution of the mailman2 core delivery engine of the system, but I can't guess how much it deviated so we need to recheck security (IMHO) [Security] No known CVEs found. A few old issues can be found against mailman2 and one (but long fixed) for mailman 3 => https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvekey.cgi?keyword=mailman [Quality assurance] The mailman3 stacks as of now (Disco) installs fine and provides a base config. But due to the nature of the package that needs further modification to be of real use. The package does in error cases ask a debconf-high question, but it is not going to be installed by default - so that is no MIR problem. There are a few (2) Ubuntu bugs outstanding, but none of them is critical and stopping this MIR request. There are a few (2) Debian bugs outstanding all seems to "just work" still, but when we main this in 19.10 we should at least evaluate and maybe adress this one: - https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=921445 There are regular upstream releases and Debian packages them and fixes regularly. No exotic HW involved. The package ships a test suite, but it is not run at build time for upstream bug #400. It tests things in a dep8 test thou to provide coverage. d/watch is set up and ok. No Lintian warning except fairly recent newer Standards version. The package does not rely on demoted or obsolete packages. [UI standards] Comes with 7 translations in .po files No End-user applications that needs a standard conformant desktop file. [Dependencies] Some dependencies are not in main, but we drive MIR for all related packages that are not in main at the same time. Please check the list of bugs from the main Mailman3 MIR in bug 1775427 to get an overview. [Standards compliance] The package meets the FHS and Debian Policy standards. The packaging itself is very straight forward and uses dh_* as much as possible - the d/rules fits on one screen. [Maintenance] The Server team will subscribe for the package for maintenance [Background] The package description explains the general purpose and context of the package well. --- References to all the related MIR bug - one per affected package.
