[Bug 1581597] Re: hplip causes scanimage -L to return the same hp scanner as two devices
Looks like I cannot anymore use printer URIs with the ?zc=HPxx instead of the ?IP=xx.yy.zz.ww syntax anymore. Not so easy to say, because the documentation says nothing about printer uris and hplip changelogs are a bit too "terse". If this is the case, then yes, the bug is gone... but at a cost in the sense that a useful feature is removed (now you need to instruct your AP to always give the same IP address to your printer, otherwise it will stop printing, since it can be recognized only by IP and not by product code). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1581597 Title: hplip causes scanimage -L to return the same hp scanner as two devices To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+bug/1581597/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1761844] Re: Very large emojis displayed in subject line and in the email list
Just in to be fair to Canonical or even Thunderbird Developers and their people it is impossible to test an application for every bug that may arise. How would you see and test an emoji email would you even think of it. There are so many things that take place when you start your email client. I am sure emoji's in emails would be the last thing they would think of testing. To give you an example just look at Microsoft and Windows 10 or 7 how often do updates get released and something breaks. I'm sure Microsoft do their best to test their updates but sometimes these things just slip through because of a conflict with the app or the operating system. Having said that Thunderbird 60.1 will be released any day now and this bug has been fixed in that release. You will be able to update directly from your current email client to the new one. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1761844 Title: Very large emojis displayed in subject line and in the email list To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/thunderbird/+bug/1761844/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Switch to console with Ctrl+Alt+F3 4. Log into console 5. Press Fn+F2 again 6. Switch back to GUI session with Ctrl+Alt+F2 -> Airplane mode is on, icon appeared in Gnome task bar Same for turning it off. [Bug 1791372] Re: Keyboard backlight not working on Asus ZenBook Flip UX561UD laptop in Cosmic 18.10, works with 18.04.1 desktop installer live image
** Tags added: regression-update ** Description changed: Repro: 1. Press Fn+F3/F4 in fresh install from current Cosmic desktop image, fully updated -> Keyboard backlight should come on or change but doesn't. The gnome- - shell icon for the keyboard backlight appears for both keys, but the - icon's "progress" bar is not visible. + shell pop-up icon for the keyboard backlight appears for both keys, but + the icon's "progress" bar is not visible. Kernel version is linux-image-4.17.0-9-generic This is the same in X and Wayland session. In case it matters, Nvidia binary drivers are installed but Nvidia is switched off via Prime setting in nvidia-settings. Running with Intel drivers The keyboard backlight works perfectly when booting from the 18.04.1 desktop live image. When turning on light with 18.04.1, it is off again after rebooting into 18.10. (However 18.04.1 seems to freeze when shutting down from menu, I have to hard-shut it off). Most other Fn+Fx special keys on this laptop work (display brightness, touchpad off, sound etc.) except for the airplane mode key. [Bug 1791407] [NEW] Thinkpad L570 UEFI destroyed after BIOS update
Public bug reported: A BIOS/UEFI update was offered via notification on a ThinkPad L570. In the "Ubuntu Software" tool clicking to start update first seems not to work as the update always reappeared when clicking the reload button in the menu bar. After trying this several times, a popup window was shown and asks to reboot to finish the update. In parallel I was running the normal "Software Updater" tool so maybe the popup window came from there. I triggered the reboot, during reboot, on top of the Lenovo-Logo, some lines of text appeared (I do not remember the content), then the display went black and the System starts to beep short every 2 or 3 seconds. After about one minute I manually switched off the system via a 5 second press on the power button. Since then the system is dead: Only the cooling fan is running, the display stays black (no Lenovo logo etc.), no beep, nothing. So, I think the UEFI was not flashed correctly. Release: 18.04 System: Lenovo ThinkPad L570 (Model 20J8) Sorry, in this state of the system I cannot give any more details about the system (I am not even sure if the fwupd package is involved in this), but I just wanted to warn so that others do not run into the same trap. ** Affects: fwupd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1791407 Title: Thinkpad L570 UEFI destroyed after BIOS update To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fwupd/+bug/1791407/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1181666] Re: gnome-shell randomly blocks mouse clicks from working in app windows
Thanks @Daniel von Vugt for your comment. Meanwhile I experienced the issue again with the "Workspace Indicator" extension not being installed, so this cannot be the culprit in my case. Yet while trying to switch workspaces I briefly saw again that silly Psensor popup window "Authentication is required to update SMART data from /dev/sda". Quitting Psensor removed the blockage right away, to this is the extension to blame. Where/how best to report this apparent Psensor bug? I had already unticked Psensor's Preferences -> Providers -> 'Enable support of udisks2' (as suggested as a workaround elsewhere), but this did not help. Now I've also unticked Preferences -> Providers -> 'Enable support of hddtemp daemon'. Since meanwhile all HDD related sensors are disabled in the Psensor preferences I am rather confident that the very annoying blockage is gone. (If not, I'll uninstall Psensor, since Gnome 3 is unable to properly deal with its strange behavior.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1181666 Title: gnome-shell randomly blocks mouse clicks from working in app windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell/+bug/1181666/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
