[Bug 1760282] [NEW] Cryptsetup does not allow storage-drive encryption, it has unfullfilled dependencies
Public bug reported: After installing cryptsetup it was not possible to encrypt an usb-stick or to open an encrypted usb-stick. In case of encryption (ext4) with e.g. "gnome-disks" it showed the error: The function "bd_crypto_luks_open_blob" called, but not implemented! A solution for this problem was given in https://debianforum.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=166920 The installation of the library sudo apt-get install libblockdev-crypto2 was the solution. This library is not part of required dependencies of cryptsetup. Hello, LocutusOfBorg. I am absolutely certain that you are right in telling that line #8 of file /etc/X11/Xsession.d/98vboxadd-xclient has never read true # "VBoxClient: the VirtualBox kernel service is not running. on Ubuntu 16.04. Yet, I am absolutely certain, too, that I have checked the file on my Linux Mint 18.1 while version 5.0.40-dfsg-0ubuntu1.16.04.2 was still on the disk and right before it got uninstalled. And the line read as I have quoted. Plus, I had not tinkered around with any file, installed as part of virtualbox-guest. So you may be right that this change may have been applied by the Linux Mint makers. Guess they will have had a reason. Why? On my Mint 18.1 xfce, by now, the 3 virtualbox-guest packages version 5.1.34-dfsg-0ubuntu1.16.04.2 are present, i.e. they have been installed via Synaptic; and the machine seems to work correctly so far. But 60 min. uptime is not really very long. It works, because I have reverted line #8 to what I had found in file 98vboxadd-xclient of the previous version. Seems a bit as if the "early" notify-send invocation may be what triggers some misbehaviour on Mint 18.x. (The same notify-send still works without issues on Mint 17.x by the way.) I do understand that this looks like a Linux Mint internal issue and that you are not the person who has got to clear it up. [Bug 159356] Re: System freeze on high memory usage
I noticed this same issue on Ubuntu 17.10. I didn't find swapping to be this annoying until recently. May be I've switched to swap file instead of partition? But I think it existed even before I did the switched. However, I had never (or at least this frequently) noticed freeze conditions due to swapping with the previous versions. My swappiness is the default, 60, and it should never cause such a condition in a perfect world, I think. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/159356 Title: System freeze on high memory usage To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/159356/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

One other thing I noticed is that, when on the "Customise" screen, on the bottom of the window there'll be 3 buttons, specifically "Toolbars", "Themes" and "Density". Clicking on the toolbars button shows what appears to be a futile effort to display a list of possible toolbars, including the bookmarks one. [Bug 1760299] [NEW] partitionmanager as root but no permission to create a mount folder
Public bug reported: Excuse me for my english. It's not my native langage. With kubuntu 18.04 beta1. I am using partitionmanager with uid 0, gid 0, (verified with ksysguard). When I try to change the mounting point, I can only create a new folder with my user uid. So The mounting must be in $HOME or /media/$USER. I don't understand why root couldn't define a mounting point for exemple /mydisk. Then, as the process is with root uid, the file /etc/fstab could be changed but not with the wanted mount point. I made an other test by changing /usr/share/applications/org.kde.partitionmanager.desktop and add : X-KDE-SubstituteUID=true X-KDE-Username=root But no change, I am still with my user id when I try to create the mounting point. ** Affects: kpmcore (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1760299 Title: partitionmanager as root but no permission to create a mount folder To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kpmcore/+bug/1760299/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1703630] Re: Phoronix Test Suite package is outdated
Yes I would appreciate if the phoronix-test-suite package would either be updated in Debian or deleted... Right now the packages PTS 5.2.1 version is four years out of date and PTS 8.0.0 is coming up for release in the next two or three months... I've been very frustrated seeing this package not be updated and would rather it be removed if it's not going to be updated as users can otherwise just install from source or the Debian package at http://www.phoronix-test-suite.com/ For any Ubuntu packagers, it should be rather trivial upgrading from 5.2.1 to 7.8/8.0 and shouldn't require any real changes to the packaging. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1703630 Title: Phoronix Test Suite package is outdated To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/phoronix-test-suite/+bug/1703630/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1703630] Re: Phoronix Test Suite package is outdated
Also with regards to it being deleted from Debian, I believe it was because they didn't like that PTS has the ability to install additional packages (external dependencies) itself. You could add all of the possible PTS dependencies to the Debian package itself, but then it would bring in a whole number of dependencies that likely aren't going to be needed/used, depending upon what test(s) the user wants to run for benchmarking so for that reason PTS handles them dynamically and calls APT or the respective distribution's packaging mechanism when it needs a given dependency for a particular test.

This doesn't do anything in the Ubuntu Bionic beta. + + Potentially related the ALT-TAB window switching is delayed in + recognizing the occurrence of the keys being pressed such that I have to + hold ALT-TAB instead of quickly hitting both simultaneously. This is from a system that was upgraded from a previous Ubuntu version without any issues. Since this only happens on first login, I ran a diff on the full home directory before/after login: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/SJ2nNx7WfP/ I don't see anything obvious in there. The pulse cookie and a blueman settings file (empty) were created. [Bug 1760310] [NEW] pastebinit crashed with UnicodeDecodeError in decode(): 'utf-8' codec can't decode byte 0xad in position 15319: invalid start byte
Public bug reported: To reproduce: 1. Attempt to paste non-unicode data with a pipe: cat ~/.config/pulse/cookie | pastebinit Result: Python throwsa Unicode error.
