Also with regards to it being deleted from Debian, I believe it was
because they didn't like that PTS has the ability to install additional
packages (external dependencies) itself. You could add all of the
possible PTS dependencies to the Debian package itself, but then it
would bring in a whole number of dependencies that likely aren't going
to be needed/used, depending upon what test(s) the user wants to run for
benchmarking so for that reason PTS handles them dynamically and calls
APT or the respective distribution's packaging mechanism when it needs a
given dependency for a particular test.
