[Bug 1638136] Re: xbacklight not working in ubuntu 16.10

2017-04-24 Thread zarej
You can use xfce4-power-manager it is working for me, plus you can have
additional benefits like notification on battery low and few more
things.

$ sudo apt install xfce4-power-manager

You can add automatically start on boot at ~/.config/i3/conf
exec xfce4-power-manager

[Bug 1685723] [NEW] [Feature] CNL:eMMC 5.1 support

2017-04-24 Thread quanxian
Public bug reported:

CNL will have eMMC5.1 capable host controller that includes new features:
1) Command queue support – making the data transfers highly efficient by
offloading the software overhead into the controller.
2) eMMC 5.1 further improves the reliability of operation by utilizing an
“enhanced strobe” at the PHY layer.
The eMMC5.1 is backward compatible with the existing eMMC 4.51 and eMMC 5.0
Devices.

[Bug 1685037] Re: In 16.04 the package suggests vital, but non-existent packages chromedriver and firefoxdriver

2017-04-24 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu
better.

It took a look at this and it might be two separate issues for each of
the drivers.

The firefox driver seems to have only been packaged recently (see
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/selenium-firefoxdriver or the
publishing history) and is only available in 16.10 and newer. It should
be possible to request a backport of this to 16.04, see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports for details on this.

Chromdriver seems to be another story. In Debian, it is built as a transitional
package for chromium-driver,
 but in Ubuntu the package only offers chromium-chromedriver. Compare the list
of binaries on https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/chromium-browser with the ones
listed on https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser. This might be
another small difference since chromium is packaged directly in Ubuntu separate
from Debian, but I don't know if there is a reason for the driver package names
to differ. I've taken the liberty to mark this issue as also affecting
chromium-browser for this part.

Welcome. :)

At least I am happy with the amount of information flowing in these
channels. All commits are automatically send to the list, for those
with time and interest to review, and all bug reports and discussions
are sent there too. But most important, everyone in the group seem to
welcome contributions from interested and skilled people. The team is
short on man-power, as is most teams of course, but everyone is doing as
good as we can.

My main problem is personal, I lack the required spare time to
contribute technically, and so far has mostly helped by guiding the
package through the NEW queue and commiting a few translations. :)

Aha. I misunderstood what to look for in git. I do not know anything

I guess the change was led by the Debian sync, for zesty the packages
are synced and derived from the Debian one, while previous packages
aren't.

I don't think there's extensive use of those Debian packages for ZFS as
rootfs at the moment, while other common cases were tested to be
working. So if there's trouble led by those packages let's work on it...

Aron

[Bug 1684854] Re: The default behaviour for search domains changed from 16.10 to 17.04

2017-04-24 Thread Daniel
Kubuntu 17.04: openvpn

If “use this connection only for resources on its network” is checked,
"systemd-resolve --status" shows "~" before the domain name as ThyMythos said.
And adding the correct domain on the options have not effect, only takes the
domain pushed by vpn server prefixed with "~".

[Bug 1640180] Re: gnome-todo doesn't load CalDav task list from EDS

2017-04-24 Thread varacanero
I upgraded to Ubuntu 17.04 yesterday and gnome-todo 3.22.1-2 still doesn't
display EDS tasks fetched from caldav.
Evolution itself shows them just fine.
Btw, the zesty packages also shows a question mark as icon in Unity's side bar
and "Unknown Application Name" in the title bar.

[Bug 1639776] Re: name resolution (dnsmasq) fails to send queries out after suspend/resume reconnects the interface

2017-04-24 Thread Lukas Dzunko
I am running Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS and I updated all packages to latest
stable version including dnsmasq-base (2.75-1ubuntu0.16.04.2). VPN
connection is still not working. Wireshark show that all queries are
forwarded to local DNS server instead of one defined by VPN. This is not
only information leak bud it also break DNS resolution at all. I am
getting "resolve call failed: Query timed out" from systemd-resolve and
"no servers could be reached" from host command.

I downgraded network-manager manager again to 1.2.2-0ubuntu0.16.04.4 and
it start working fine. Wireshak show that all DNS queries (at least
during time i was monitoring it) are forwarded to correct DNS server
defined by VPN server.

Is there a way how to expedite this ? This bug is affecting lot of users
and guys are considering to not stick with Ubuntu as work machine. If
there is no clear way how to fix this then please downgrade network-
manager and network-manager-gnome back to 1.2.2* version in stable tree.
Especially the second one is important as it will resolve problems with
GUI and was removed from Ubuntu repository right after update was
introduced ...

[Bug 1671606] Re: DNS server from vpn connection is not being used after network-manager upgrade to 1.2.6-0ubuntu0.16.04.1

2017-04-24 Thread Lukas Dzunko
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1639776 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1639776

This bug is marked as duplicate to #1639776 but I think it is not 100%
correct.

I recently updated all packages to latest version and VPN connection is
still not working. Proposed update from #1639776 (dnsmasq-
base=2.75-1ubuntu0.16.04.2) is not changing behavior. DNS queries are
still forwarded to local DNS server instead of one defined by VPN after
applying this update. When I downgrade network-manager to
1.2.2-0ubuntu0.16.04.4 problem immediately disappear:

network-manager:

1.2.2-0ubuntu0.16.04.4 -> DNS queries are forwared to DNS servers
defined by VPN. Everything works fine

1.2.6-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 -> DNS queries are send to local DNS server only
defectively making VPN connection to fail

I tried different commands like ping, host, systemd-resolve and all
provide +- same result. Also GUI application (like browser) behave same.
Therefore I think this is more problem with network-manager rather that
dnsmasq-base.

[Bug 1685741] [NEW] Replace gnome-mplayer with gnome-mpv

2017-04-24 Thread Amr Ibrahim
Public bug reported:

gnome-mplayer is long dead upstream and it was removed from Debian. It's
a technical debt in Ubuntu. Please consider gnome-mpv instead
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-mpv. It depends on mpv and it
is actively maintained in Debian and upstream.

When the replace takes place, please remove the gnome-mplayer source
from Ubuntu archives.

[Bug 1671360] Re: System doesn't boot properly on Gigabyte AM4 motherboards (AMD Ryzen)

2017-04-24 Thread Marc Singer
@Edward: It seems like the kernel fails to build a module for a realtek usb
wlan card (https://github.com/gnab/rtl8812au) from kernel 4.3.8 - could you
remove this module or the kernel 4.3.8?
What version of ubuntu are you using? and could you reinstall it when its
necessary?

[Bug 1677196] Re: missing the executive file VGAuthService for open-vm-tool-10.1.5

2017-04-24 Thread vmware-gos-Yuhua
This issue was fixed in the newest package open-vm-tools
2:10.1.5-5055683-1ubuntu1.1.

thanks all for your effort!

Test Steps:
1. Add repository
   modify the software sources manually by adding the following line to
/etc/apt/sources.list:
   deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ zesty-proposed restricted main
multiverse universe

2. Update repository cache: sudo apt-get update

3. Install package open-vm-tools: sudo apt-get install open-vm-tools
:During the installation, we can see it can get package from repository
zesty-proposed

4. Check if VGAuth works well:
   1) The executive VGAuathServices should exist in /usr/bin/ --> Pass
   2) After install OVT, VGAuathServices should be running --> Pass
   3) After Reboot GuestOS, VGAuathServices should be running --> Pass
   4) check basic functions for VGauth --> Pass

best regards
Yuhua Zou

[Bug 1632772] Re: Login option 'GNOME on Wayland' does not start from LightDM

2017-04-24 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
Note, we cannot just remove unity8-desktop-session in zesty, thus some
other workaround needed, if we want to SRU this change.

2017-04-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Hi guys,

I'm getting this qemu crash message:
>>> qemu-system-x86_64: /build/qemu-TziMIO/qemu-2.5+dfsg/block/vvfat.c:2290:
>>> commit_direntries: Assertion `!strncmp(s->directory.pointer, "QEMU", 4)'
>>> failed.
>>> Aborted (core dumped)
when launching qemu with this options for a VVFAT drive:
>>> -drive file=fat:rw:./ROOT,if=virtio
(same happens when using cache=none and/or if=ide)

"uname -a" system info is:
>>> Linux RJZ-WRK-LNX 4.4.0-72-generic #93-Ubuntu SMP Fri Mar 31 14:07:41 UTC
>>> 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
and "qemu --version" is:
>>> QEMU emulator version 2.5.0 (Debian 1:2.5+dfsg-5ubuntu10.10), Copyright (c)
>>> 2003-2008 Fabrice Bellard

Not sure what logs to attach but I'll be glad to upload whatever needed.

Thanks in advance for you help,
Rolando
