Add repository modify the software sources manually by adding the following line to /etc/apt/sources.list: deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ zesty-proposed restricted main multiverse universe 2. Update repository cache: sudo apt-get update 3. Install package open-vm-tools: sudo apt-get install open-vm-tools :During the installation, we can see it can get package from repository zesty-proposed 4.
