[Bug 1656218] [NEW] QT4 apps fail with symbol lookup error
Public bug reported: Running 16.10 several Qt4 apps fail for me with symbol lookup errors. Two examples are: $ kcachegrind kcachegrind: symbol lookup error: kcachegrind: undefined symbol: _ZNK12QApplication17isSessionRestoredEv $ python -m pyqtgraph Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/python2.7/runpy.py", line 163, in _run_module_as_main mod_name, _Error) File "/usr/lib/python2.7/runpy.py", line 111, in _get_module_details __import__(mod_name) # Do not catch exceptions initializing package File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/pyqtgraph/__init__.py", line 13, in from .Qt import QtGui File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/pyqtgraph/Qt.py", line 104, in from PyQt4 import QtGui, QtCore, uic ImportError: /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/PyQt4/QtGui.x86_64-linux-gnu.so: undefined symbol: _ZN15QSessionManager16staticMetaObjectE I suspect this applies to many more qt4 packages (and I've found several similar bugs, e.g. #1534421). [Bug 1655450] Re: monitors not disconnected after undocking
This happened after upgrade to 16.10 I believe (unfortunately I am not 100% sure about this). I can confirm that this is fixed using 4.9.2-040902-generic from mainline kernels. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed ** Tags added: kernel-fixed-upstream ** Description changed: - I have a Lenovo X1 Carbon (4th gen) and using the Lenovo one-link+ docking station. The laptop is connected through the docking station to 2 external monitors when docked. When undocking the laptop, the laptop does not detect that the monitors have been disconnected (leaving X in a somewhat unworkable state). Even worse, when undocking with thelid closed (which would previously have resulted in suspend) the laptop now starts working hard and the fan starts spinning up (which is particularly bad when forgetting about this and placing the laptop in a bag). The laptop also becomes very unresponsive to X actions, e.g. xrandr --query takes a a couple of seconds, switching to the console takes > 10s. + I have a Lenovo X1 Carbon (4th gen) and using the Lenovo one-link+ docking station. [Bug 1645116] Re: [Brother DCP-J715W] core dumped executing scanimage -L
Hi, I saw the "System Settings > Security & Privacy > Diagnostics > Show Previous Reports" in the doc, but I don't know yet how to reproduce it on xubuntu. If you got a URL or a command line to start it, it would be a great help. Not really important, but it could help, I will read the doc more deeper, I may found it. For our bug here: The brother multifunction is configured as a network device using wifi on the local wifi router as my laptop. I assigned it a fixed dhcp IP address. We have 5 computers using it, 1 ubuntu and 4 xubuntu, as printer as well as a scanner. I installed all computer following the same documentation. I currently use a VM running xubuntu 16.04 on my laptop, in order to scan. The following may not be part of the problem, but I don't know : I also noticed some network change in xubuntu 16.10 which introduce some problems related to printer : /etc/nsswitch.conf : I can't use anymore detected netbios name published by the printer itself to setup the printer device in the printing area. It was not involved into scanning, as far as I now, because I always using IP to configure brscan3. Now I also need to use IP for the printer config, before it was : dnssd://Brother DCP-J715W._pdl-datastream._tcp.local/ now I use : socket://192.168.1.27 Back to the scanner, there's also a lib64/lib32 error/mistake in brother path install, I must copy the lib at the good emplacement. Here's my own doc: sudo brsaneconfig3 -a name=scanner model=DCP-J715W ip=192.168.1.27 sudo brsaneconfig3 -p test scanner ping 192.168.1.27 -w 10 PING 192.168.1.27 (192.168.1.27) 56(84) bytes of data. OK copy 64bits lib: cd /usr/lib64/ sudo cp -r . /usr/lib I recently installed 4 computers on xubuntu 16.04, they all worked, plus my own VM. HTX is a user space test-suite using OS system calls to perform write/read operations to disks. It opens disks using O_DIRECT flag, thus bypasses filesystem cache with write/read ops. Here HTX has reported write fails with errno = 1 (Operation not permitted) at same time as os-prober fails get logged into Linux logs. [Bug 1656248] [NEW] Changing the order of monitors leads to off-screen windows
Public bug reported: The following steps lead to off-screen windows when using compiz on Ubuntu 14.04 (e.g. when using Unity), and having no virtual desktops configured: - Start system and login (with only one monitor connected, or using a laptop) - Connect an additional monitor after logging in, or connect the laptop to a docking station with an external monitor connected to it (which then should be automatically configured to be the right monitor) - Open a window on the additional (right) monitor - Change the order of monitors in the display settings (put the originally left monitor to the right, and vice versa) - Now the window which was opened on the originally right (now left) monitor is now off-screen The problem is, that when the order of monitors get changed, the code that recalculates the window positions, calculates the wrong positions. To calculate the new window positions, the code saves the current desktop resolution (in case the resolution changes), then changes the display configuration (e.g. enables the new monitor and re-configures the desktop) and then uses the saved (now old) desktop resolution to calculate the window positions for the new resolution. The problem is, that when changing the order of monitors, as described above, the code does not actually save the current desktop resolution (the resolution of the both monitors combined), so does not realize that the desktop resolution has actually not changed (just the order of monitors). It then uses the old saved resolution (which was the resolution for the initial single-monitor configuration). It then calculates the wrong new window positions (because it thinks the window was an a non-existing virtual desktop). The fix for the problem is to save the current desktop resolution not only when the resolution changes, but every time the display configuration changes. The problem also exists when using virtual desktops, but then the window might only be pushed to another virtual desktop, or still off-screen, depending on where the windows was placed initially. I will attach a patch that solves the problem. The patch makes sure that the current desktop resolution gets saved every time the display configuration changes, and not only when the actual desktop resolution changes. The patch is against compiz-0.9.11.3+14.04.20160425. But the problem seems still to be present in the latest upstream source. I haven't tested this, but the problematic code is still the same. ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: patch ** Patch added: "compiz_fix_monitor_reconfiguration.patch" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1656248/+attachment/4803783/+files/compiz_fix_monitor_reconfiguration.patch ** Tags added: patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1656248 Title: Changing the order of monitors leads to off-screen windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/1656248/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1645698] Re: [SRU] Upgrade network-manager to latest point release
- d/rules: yes that helped a lot for testing - commenting out patch: in xenial branch we haven't switched to gbp-pq yet, and historically some patches were commented out when not used, and I'm following it - it was believed not useful during a bunch update of n-m 1.2 packages (both debian and ubuntu), but later we switched back to hook up the service in WantedBy=network-online.target dynamically. This change makes it easier to disable the service and is what we have in yakkety, but the change can be dropped if it's not appropriate for SRU. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1645698 Title: [SRU] Upgrade network-manager to latest point release To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1645698/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for your attention. I did a SSO login and opened this issue web page (1643544). Then did the command: apport-collect 1643544 Package sane-backends not installed and no hook available, ignoring Gtk-Message: GtkDialog mapped without a transient parent. This is discouraged. A window pops up "no further information gathered" (see attachment) $ sudo apt-get install sane-backends says that the package cannot be found. I cannot find it in synaptic either. And this page (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sane-backends/1.0.25+git20150528-1ubuntu2) says, that it's for USB3 "or fast recent hardware" - which is not available at my system. [Bug 1639180] Re: no login possible after update to nvidia 304.132
Yes, there is: 1. To try PPA: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install nvidia-304=304.134-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 \ nvidia-opencl-icd-304=304.134-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 \ libcuda1-304=304.134-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 \ nvidia-settings=375.26-0ubuntu0~gpu16.04.1 \ libxnvctrl0=375.26-0ubuntu0~gpu16.04.1 2. To revert: sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/graphics-drivers-ubuntu-ppa-xenial.list sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install nvidia-304=304.131-0ubuntu3 \ nvidia-opencl-icd-304=304.131-0ubuntu3 \ libcuda1-304=304.131-0ubuntu3 \ nvidia-settings=361.42-0ubuntu1 \ libxnvctrl0=361.42-0ubuntu1 (Note 1: This recipe is valid now. It refers specific versions that are in Ubuntu 16.04.1 and in PPA _now_. Not sure if it will work later, if a repository removes old versions.) (Note 2: Every command looking like: part1 \ part2 \ … \ lastPart -- is a single command. You can either paste it all-at-once, or line-by-line (last line is without "\", other lines must end with "\"). Or you may merge it into single line _with removing slashes_ ("part1 part2 … lastPart").) But, as 304.131 works for you, you have no need to explicitly upgrade to 304.134. Just wait until 304.134 will appear itself. [Bug 1656259] [NEW] Linux ZFS port doesn't respect RLIMIT_FSIZE
Public bug reported: bash -c 'ulimit -f 1024; yes | head -n2097152' >/path/on/filesystem/under/test On ext4, this test case prints something along the lines of: bash: line 1: 11274 Broken pipe yes 11275 File size limit exceeded(core dumped) | head -n2097152 On ZFS, this test case incorrectly exits zero with no output, demonstrating that ZFS does not respect RLIMIT_FSIZE. I asked a friend to run this on Solaris 5.10 and FreeBSD 10.0-CURRENT, and on those systems this test case correctly generates SIGXFSZ; so it seems that this is a bug in the Linux port of ZFS. (This was discovered while tracking down Launchpad test suite failures under LXD on ZFS. Launchpad uses RLIMIT_FSIZE in one place to guard against bugs that cause debdiff to generate arbitrarily large amounts of output and fill the disk.) [Bug 1656042] Re: unity-scopes-api FTBFS with Qt 5.7.1
There seems to be some weirdness with Qt5.7 messing with build flags. For indicator-network, where we have C++14 enabled, Qt seemed to be inserting -std-c++11 (or whatever the exact flag is) in addition. [Bug 1654271] Re: host machine freezes
So as far as I understand, when you take avx2/fma away from the guest things work, but if you keep them enabled (via cpu model) it fails? Generally those features should be supported, to most of it they are just processor features and passed through. By Default I think avx2 is passed but fma is not - maybe that was you case. I checked with to get all I can and then check like /proc/cpuinfo which confirms I have them all. Since this is not emulation I'd hope that KVM itself isn't really involved in doing a lot after setting up initially. Is Radeon crimson relive even supported in a virtual guest? If it freezes what is the qemu status? Maybe check more of the status via https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/QEMU/Monitor If you would find an equivalent test in a linux guest that I could retry that would very useful. ** Changed in: qemu (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1654271 Title: host machine freezes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu/+bug/1654271/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Add support for installing subordinate systemd for snappy on Ubuntu Desktop 14.04.5 When installed, superseeds systemd-shim support functionality by: * Providing necessary units for power management * Replicating systemd-shim timedated support functionality in timedated itself (thus dropping systemd-shim dependency from timedated code) Bugfixes to cgmanager codepath for compatibility with lxc: * free NULL bug fix * fix cg_attach for subordinate systemd [Impact] * Users can install snapd without regressing Desktop support, lxc/lxc1/lxd abilities. [Test Case] * Power management works (e.g. shutdown/reboot via indicator-system) * Timedatectl commands report NTP status enable/disabled correctly, and can change it * Can install and use snapd * Can install and use lxc / lxc1 / lxd [Regression Potential] * Installing snapd will pull in cgmanager and bin:systemd on the desktop, superseding systemd-shim.
