[Bug 792085] Re: Automatic remount of safely removed USB 3.0 drive

2017-01-05 Thread flocculant
@jsalisbury

I've downloaded the patched kernels for both Xenial and Yakkety.

For both I tested copying to drive and ejecting. Also tested just
mounting and ejecting.

In both it worked as expected - no re-mounting of the drive after
ejecting.

Thanks.

[Bug 1652147] Re: UEFI secure boot fails after 14.04 to 16.04 upgrade

2017-01-05 Thread Stefan Bader
In sources.list on the laptop proposed is disabled now. I think I did
not manually change this. So it seems that it got disabled during
upgrade. Which would make sense with my second upgrade where I disabled
proposed manually before the release upgrade. The weird thing is anyway
where those versions come from. Using rmadison they do not show and I
thought they should.

/etc/apt/sources.list:

[Bug 1414137] Re: Stats page fires 63 ceilometer-api requests, runs into timeout

2017-01-05 Thread James Page
I'm not entirely sure what we can do about this; performance of the
calls is likely to be driven by the speed of the underlying hardware
supporting ceilometer and mongodb. This does not sound like a charm
specific problem, so I'm going to push this to the Ubuntu package - it
would be useful if you can provide details as to which version of
OpenStack and Ubuntu where being used when you saw this issue.

[Bug 1414137] Re: Stats page fires 63 ceilometer-api requests, runs into timeout

2017-01-05 Thread James Page
Once we have a little more information (and maybe confirmation that this
is still a problem on a recent, still supported upstream version of
openstack) we can see if this appropriate to push to the horizon project
directly.

ACPI / EC: Fix a gap that ECDT EC cannot handle EC events

It is possible to register _Qxx from namespace and use the ECDT EC to
perform event handling. The reported bug reveals that Windows is using ECDT
in this way in case the namespace EC is not present. This patch facilitates
Linux to support ECDT in this way.

[Bug 1635577] Re: memory leak in unity-panel-service

2017-01-05 Thread Morsok
Hello,

I'd like to test that also since I have to reboot my laptop every day
due to the leak.

Can you link me to some documentation in order to switch from owncloud
repos to the ubunto one ?

Also my owncloud client is 2.2.4 and the one you just uploaded is 2.2.2,
is this normal ? Why the difference ?

What repository should be considered official ? The ubuntu one or the
developers one ? Sorry if i'm asking dumb questions, this is still new
to me.

I made some rough ppa pkg for this.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/libreoffice-5-1
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:xtrusia/libreoffice-5.1.6-rc2-t
sudo apt update

sudo apt install libreoffice

test your file with calc

is there any performance changes?

I'm trying to contribute this but will take a while.

Thanks

[Bug 1423296] Re: Only one CPU core gets microcode updated

2017-01-05 Thread dino99
This zesty 64 bits output:

dmesg | grep -i microcode
[0.00] microcode: microcode updated early to revision 0x70a, date =
2010-09-29
[1.520819] microcode: sig=0x10677, pf=0x10, revision=0x70a
[1.529644] microcode: Microcode Update Driver: v2.01
, Peter Oruba

this is with 1 cpu with 4 cores: so the output should list all the cores (intel
q9550).
Both intel-microcode & iucode-tool are installed by default.

At first glance the upgrade seems incomplete/faulty, not fully sure but
confused.

[Bug 1646462] Re: lxc container download error (possibly HSTS related)

2017-01-05 Thread Luke
I have a suspicion that the error is related to the uid/gid mappings. I
need several mappings for different containers. It all starts to creep
up on any machine configured like so:

/etc/subuid

root:10:65536
root:33:1
root:100034:65503
root:503:1
root:100504:65033

/etc/subgid

root:10:65536
root:33:1
root:100034:65503
root:109:1
root:100110:65427

My hunch is that the download script fails to recognize which mapping it
should use for the container filesystem it is extracting onto the disk.

[Bug 1635577] Re: memory leak in unity-panel-service

2017-01-05 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
@Morsok: the owncloud repository is official from owncloud point of
view. The Ubuntu repository is official from Ubuntu point of view — I am
representing this one here :)

If you are already using 2.2.4 from owncloud repository, I will suggest
you to remain on it and not downgrade, and wait for the fix from
upstream instead (or use appmenu-qt5 as a workaround).

[Bug 1654213] [NEW] fdtdump doesn't ouput correctly

2017-01-05 Thread Hiroshi Takekawa
Public bug reported:

fdtdump of device tree compiler package (I found in 16.04 LTS and 14.04
LTS) outputs bogus dts.

Would you please consider at least applying the upstream patch below?

https://git.kernel.org/cgit/utils/dtc/dtc.git/patch/?id=883238dc508e721db694277c5273a4c3e9a7132f

Test:
Prepare dtb (device tree blob, any dtb would be suffice).

$ fdtdump dtb > dts
$ dtc -I dts -O dtb < dts > dtb.new
$ cmp dtb dtb.new

There should be no difference between dtb and dtb.new.
I tested successfully with the patch applied (and failed with the vanilla
package).

This changed on newer kernels.

You will notice the kernel message DOES NOT mention any particular cpu
anymore (before, it would have CPU# somewhere). That means the kernel is
not going to repeat the message for every "CPU" unless they happen to
need different microcode, which is not true for your machine.

Please check /proc/cpuinfo output: it should list the updated microcode
revision for all cores.

[Bug 1654214] [NEW] Belkin Thunderbolt 2 Express Dock HD display port hot plug not supported.

2017-01-05 Thread dunk
Public bug reported:

MachineType: Apple Inc. MacBookPro12,5
Peripheral: Belkin Thunderbolt 2 Express Dock HD. Model: F4U085

[Text copied from bug/1551712]
1. When booted without the dock connected, connecting the dock only allows USB
and Ethernet to work, it does not support HDMI or DisplayPort monitors.
Re-seating the dock from here does not stop USB and Ethernet from working.

2. When booted with the device connected, while the device works fine,
reseating the dock causes no adapters to work (No USB, Ethernet, HDMI
and DisplayPort)

This bug was generated with the Thunderbolt IO expander connected at boot time
and therefore all IO is working as intended.
Also (manually) attached is a copy of syslog, lsmod and lspci where the dock is
removed then re-attached. (search for the annotation "Removing Thunderbolt" and
"Inserting Thunderbolt".)

The 3rd state where the system is booted without the doc is not
accounted for in the attached logs.

Please let me know if you want any more information.

[Bug 1577460] Please test proposed package

2017-01-05 Thread Andy Whitcroft
Hello bugproxy, or anyone else affected,

Accepted util-linux into xenial-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/util-
linux/2.27.1-6ubuntu3.2 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1591833] Re: [Featue] Upgrade Openssl for Intel QAT (quickassist-technology)

2017-01-05 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
Whilst debian is transitioning to openssl1.1, it is only partial
transition at the moment with many projects explicitly not supporting
openssl1.1 and forcing compilation against openssl1.0. In Ubuntu main,
the big ones are apache2, erlang, openssh, ruby, pam. Providing security
support for both openssl1.1 and openssl1.0 in main would increases
attack surface and result in mixed features (some components have
ability to use new crypto, whilst others don't). Thus we would like to
only have one openssl in main, and we have reverted the openssl1.1
transition in Ubuntu. Making openssl1.1 available, without making it the
default openssl is of limited benefit as none of the server packages
will use it and/or benefit from it.

Please note, 1.0.2 is LTS with upstream support until end of 2019.
Whilst 1.1.0 has a shorter cycle until end of August 2018.

Please help upstreams (apache2, openssh, erlang, ruby, pam-p11, etc.)
porting to openssl1.1.

[Bug 1653341] Re: [SRU] update tld_serv_list

2017-01-05 Thread Rolf Leggewie
Christian, thanks for having a look.

Well, I had hoped it was clear enough what I think needs to happen.

1. download https://github.com/rfc1036/whois/blob/next/tld_serv_list
2. use #1 to replace the current version
3. update the changelog
4. upload to trusty and xenial

Was this unclear?

My suggestion is that this should happen regularly.

[Bug 1653721] Re: plantage de l'ordi n'importe quand

2017-01-05 Thread ALLEON Karine

[Bug 1654238] [NEW] Switch to "English (United States)" doesn't work correctly

2017-01-05 Thread Chris Perry
Public bug reported:

I wanted to switch from "English (United Kingdom)" to "English (United
States)". Ubuntu 16.04. In Language Support I moved "English (United
States)" to the top of the list and then logged off and logged back in -
but my language was still "English (United Kingdom)". Eg the trash icon
was still called "Rubbish Bin".

The change only takes effect if one, in addition to the move described
above, moves "English (United Kingdom" below "English" in the list in
Language Support. This is a bug. The switch from "English (United
Kingdom)" to "English (United States)" should take effect immediately -
as I believe switches to other languages (eg French) do.

rules to force whitespace replacement. If upstream changes the default
behavior, to replace whitespace, then this workaround patch becomes
redundant/unneeded, but it will not conflict.

The issue is the behavior of udev for SYMLINK values, depending on the
"string_escape" option setting for each SYMLINK rule. There are 3
possible settings, 1) unset (the default), 2) "none", and 3) "replace".
As expected, when set to "none", udev does not replace any characters
(neither whitespace nor any other characters) in the SYMLINK value; and
when set to "replace", udev replaces all whitespace, as well as invalid
characters, with underscores. The default behavior (when unset) is what
may change upstream - currently, it replaces all invalid characters but
*does not* replace whitespace. This is a problem for SYMLINK values,
since the SYMLINK string is a whitespace-separated list of strings. No
rules that are included with udev currently want this behavior, but
there may be some custom udev rules that expect it. The NVMe rules do
not expect or want it. For reference, the NVMe udev rules are:

SYMLINK+="disk/by-id/nvme-$env{ID_SERIAL}"
SYMLINK+="disk/by-id/nvme-$env{ID_SERIAL}-part%n"

these rules expect one, and only one, symlink to be created for each new
NVMe drive (or NVMe partition) that is detected. Under no circumstances
do these rules ever want multiple symlinks created for a single
execution of the rule. So this workaround, to set
"string_escape=replace" only for these 2 NVMe rules, is appropriate. If
the default behavior upstream is changed later, so that any whitespace
in the ID_SERIAL string is replaced when "string_escape" is unset, then
the behavior of udev for these specific rules will be identical whether
"string_escape" is unset or set to "replace", and so at that point this
workaround patch can be left or reverted, as the udev behavior will be
identical either way. Until then, this workaround patch is needed for
the correct behavior.

[Bug 1654248] [NEW] nzbget - does not fail on missing dependency unrar

2017-01-05 Thread Andrew J. Hutton
Public bug reported:

When unrar is not present, nzbget will download all the files.. then
throw a logfile error and immediately go on to the next item in the
queue. If unrar is not present nzbget is BROKEN, unrar should both be a
.deb dependency AND nzbget modified to at a minimum pause the queue, or
throw a fatal error if unrar is not available. The outcome of not having
unrar present is the queue being downloaded over and over without result
beyond using up bandwidth quota.

[Bug 1433795] Re: bzr crashed with InitError in get_default_collection(): Failed to unlock the collection!

2017-01-05 Thread Vincent Ladeuil
ssh support works, most remote uses rely on it.

I'm not sure I'm reading the traceback correctly but I would guess the
issue is that you're providing the key password when your ring password
is expected (which would give access to the key).

So, not really a bzr issue even if the error message could be clearer.

** Description changed:

I was trying to use bzr lp-prorpose from a terminal emulator in lxde and
then the popup saying for entering the password to my ssh key poped up
and claimed my password was wong when I beive I typed the correct
password in but am not sure of a typo. I tried several times and then
this failed and brought up that bzr had crashed in apport.

[Bug 1654068] Re: Ubuntu 16.04.02: Error message "kernel version is not supported" is logged during fadump, dump capture will be successful.

2017-01-05 Thread Louis Bouchard
Hello,

Version 1.6.1 of makedumpfile was announced upstream a bit more than one
week ago (27.12.16). As of this morning, it was not even packaged for
Debian.

I happen to be the debian maintainer for makedumpfile. I uploaded
1.6.1-1 minutes ago to Debian unstable. I will sync to Zesty in the
following days. So a version for the 4.8 kernel will be available in
Zesty shortly.

Regarding 16.04, the Stable Release Update procedure forbids uploads of
major releases as SRU. So makedumpfile 1.6.1 will not be released to
Xenial and Yakkety.

But 4.8 kernel specific issues have already been addressed in LP:
#1626269. Once makedumpfile 1.6.1 becomes available in Zesty, I will
investigate the possibility of disabling the "kernel not supported"
message for the 1.6.0 versions.

[Bug 1319872] Re: Dash doesn't work when scim is selected as the Keyboard Input Method System

2017-01-05 Thread Swarup Dev
I just tested it. The same problems persist.

After scim is selected as the Keyboard Input Method:

1. Dash opens but one cannot type in the search screen.
2. The backspace and delete keys on the keyboard do not work.

I have attached here a sample of what happens when using the backspace
and delete keys while scim is active. Note that the date of the sample
is May, 2014. I just did it again, and replicated the same. Attached in
next post. (This bug page does not seem to allow for two attachments to
be attached in one post.)
