[Bug 1627612] [NEW] systemctl restart xxx* does not restart inactive services
Public bug reported: Man pages of systemctl indicates that the start, restart, status takes in [PATTERN], which accepts wildcard. However, for an inactive service, it does not work UNLESS --all is provided, which does not make sense for a command like restart. If one wants to restart only if service is active, there is the try-restart command. To replicate 1. Stop a service. `systemctl stop sysstat.service` 2. Restart with wildcard. `systemctl restart sysstat*` 3. Check service status. It should still be inactive. 4. Restart with --all wildcard. `systemctl restart --all sysstat*` 5. Check again, service should have been started. [Bug 1625023] Re: switch to systemd on ubuntu phone xenial
Filed bug 1627613 to track adbd stuff separately. ** Description changed: Snappy heavily rely on systemd system session and xenial has systemd by default. [steps to construct systemd-based avila] 1. flash images built from xenial branch [1]. This should gives a working xenial+upstart avila. 2. Install systemd-sysv rather than upstart-sysv (Bug 1625023) 2.1. rebuild latest ubuntu-touch package from source [2] with patch [3] applied. 2.2. download latest systemd-sysv package [4]. 2.3. dpkg -i ubuntu-touch_*.deb systemd-sysv_*.deb - 3. Install android-tools-adbd for systemd (Bug 1625023) + 3. Install android-tools-adbd for systemd (Bug 1627613) 3.1. download prebuilt package [5] or recompile it from source [6] with patch [7] applied. 3.2. Install the package from Terminal app because it will break adb connection and interrupt the installation process leaving a very bad state of the package. 4. Install prebuilt lxc-android-config package [8] or just correct its systemd service file by hand as the merge proposal [9] does. (Bug 1625445, bug 1625916 and bug 1626012). 5. Reboot. i915_bpo is from 4.7, and it's the first release that can use kbl_dmc, so it's unsurprising to not have it in xenial yet.. and it's not a must- have, but should enable lower power states. kbl_guc is not used yet nor is it upstream so can be skipped for now skl_dmc seems uptodate, _guc should be updated to ver6 to match i915_bpo which is used on SKL. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1624164 Title: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/i915/kbl_dmc_ver1.bin for module i915_bpo To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/1624164/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

In fact it displays as two parts labelled 1/2 and 2/2 at the correct times, which seems sensible to me. 4) Change timezone to America/Los Angeles. The original reporter suggests that it is sufficient to create the events in a non-UTC timezone. I just happen to be in a UTC timezone so these are the steps I took. I'm not even completely sure if this is a bug but the current way of displaying this seems counter intuitive at least. Further, the UTC times are also displayed in the "Upcoming Events" area of Kontact's summary view. The expected behavior is that time zones are handled consistently matching the setting in Configure Calender -> Date & Time -> Timezone (which is set to Europe/Berlin, as opposed to UTC, in my case). So I guess it's really a question of compatibility between korganizer 3.x and 4.x, as korganizer 4.x apparently assumes UTC if no timezone information is present while korganizer 3.x assumed my local timezone (Europe/Berlin). Do you think it's possible to change this assumption in korganizer 4.x? The alternative would be to run the calender files through some script or import filter to add timezone information. Public bug reported: Single touch vertical scrolling on right edge failed but success in horizontal scrolling on bottom edge. [Bug 1627630] [NEW] [MIR] taglibs-standard [demote to universe] jakarta-taglibs-standard
Public bug reported: Availability: - Already in universe and available on all archs (java). Rationale: - New tomcat8 needs it, and seems to be a better library instead of the old jakarta version (I didn't investigate this, but Debian switched it and there should be a good reason, I completely trust Emmanuel here) Security: - No files installed suid, sgid. - No binaries installed in sbin. - Not a plugin to security sensitive software. - Not a daemon or opening a sensitive port. Quality assurance: - Should work without configuration. - No debconf questions. - Never had a bug in Debian and Ubuntu. The status of important bugs in Debian's, Ubuntu's, and upstream's bug tracking systems must be evaluated. Links to these bug trackers need to be provided in the MIR report. Important bugs must be pointed out and discussed in the MIR report. https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?ordering=normal;archive=0;src=taglibs-standard;dist=unstable;repeatmerged=0 - No open bugs found. UI standards: Not applicable. Dependencies: I don't think we have issues, since there seems to be no runtime dependencies on universe packages. Standards compliance: Should meet standard, no lintian overrides or warnings. Maintenance: Simple package, low maintenance effort, and maintained well in Debian. Background information: New tomcat8 requires it. ** Affects: taglibs-standard (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - [MIR] taglibs-standard + [MIR] taglibs-standard [demote to universe] jakarta-taglibs-standard -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1627630 Title: [MIR] taglibs-standard [demote to universe] jakarta-taglibs-standard To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/taglibs-standard/+bug/1627630/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1627637] [NEW] bad alloc on large (but not too large) image
Public bug reported: For this example, I've created an entirely white png (attached to the bug report) with size 2400 x 36000. I saved it at compression level 9 (or whatever gimp means by that) and in 8-bit RGB. I would expect eog to be able to display this because 2400 * 36000 * 4 colours is 330 MB, which is vastly less than the available RAM on my machine. While X represents window dimensions with 16 bit values, which may perhaps be signed (I didn't check my host's type definitions), I don't expect eog to allocate a pixel-to-pixel window for the image. My screen's size is ample. This arose because of a real image of the same dimensions, but which I can't attach here. The behaviour is the same. jeff@starshine:data_2016-09-01 $ eog /tmp/2400x36000.png ** (eog:26198): WARNING **: Couldn't connect to accessibility bus: Failed to connect to socket /tmp/dbus-3UXmMLd2Wv: Connection refused (eog:26198): Gdk-ERROR **: The program 'eog' received an X Window System error. [Bug 1627641] [NEW] Backport netplan to xenial
Public bug reported: For snappy (at first at least) we need to provide netplan in xenial, as for the first snappy GA release we must not use any PPAs any more. netplan's NetworkManager backend depends on two patches to read configuration and connections from /run/NetworkManager/. These will need to be backported for full netplan support; but they are not required for snappy as this will use a snapped NM. However, this will need a temporary hack (https://code.launchpad.net/%7Emorphis/netplan/+git/netplan/+merge/306607) until snaps can actually properly support OS components like NetworkManager. REGRESSION POTENTIAL: netplan: The risk for existing installations is practically zero as nplan does not exist in xenial yet and thus will not be pulled in during upgrades. NetworkManager: Nothing in xenial expects/uses /run/NetworkManager/ and as it's an ephemeral tmpfs there is no risk of existing files there. If the patches are broken it could in theory happen that NetworkManager also does not properly read files from /etc/NetworkManager/ any more, so the -proposed package must verify that existing connections still work. TEST PLAN: 1. Run "NetworkManager --print-config" and save the output. 2. Install the proposed NetworkManager and confirm that existing connections (from /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections) still work. 3. Run "NetworkManager --print-config" again and verify that the output is the same as in step 1. 4. netplan has a very comprehensive integration test suite run as autopkgtest, which covers NetworkManager (including the /run patches) and network. Confirm that it succeeds. ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Fix Released ** Affects: nplan (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Fix Released ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Wishlist Assignee: Martin Pitt (pitti) Status: Triaged ** Affects: nplan (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Wishlist Assignee: Martin Pitt (pitti) Status: Triaged ** Also affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - Provide nplan to xenial + Backport netplan to xenial ** Also affects: network-manager (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: nplan (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Released ** Changed in: nplan (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Released ** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu Xenial) Status: New => Triaged ** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu Xenial) Assignee: (unassigned) => Martin Pitt (pitti) ** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided => Wishlist ** Changed in: nplan (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided => Wishlist ** Changed in: nplan (Ubuntu Xenial) Status: New => Triaged ** Changed in: nplan (Ubuntu Xenial) Assignee: (unassigned) => Martin Pitt (pitti) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1627641 Title: Backport netplan to xenial To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1627641/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

When attempting to move these recurring events to a different day/time, the time changes yet the day does not. This only affects events in a calendar that has been imported (in my case, from KDE 3). Events created on the default calendar behave fine. Steps to reproduce: 1) Import calendar from KDE 3.x that includes recurring events. Import as a new calendar (not a merge). 2) Drag a recurring event to a new time / date and select "All occurrences". 3) 4) Profit! [Bug 1574610] Re: [DVSPlugin]Missing table nsxv_subnet_ext_attributes
The missing alembic migrations is a bit of a side effect for installing directly from the git source tree; using an sdist generated release tarball *does* include the alembic migrations, so I've switched over the Ubuntu packages to use that method instead. [Bug 1627656] [NEW] missing alembic migrations due to use of git based workflows

[Bug 1554504] Re: Calendar reminder does not wake phone when airplane mode is enabled
Since filing this bug, the issue has only got worse. It has been 100% reproducible for me for the past couple of months. I have a calendar reminder to go off at 8am. Every morning, it only goes off when I actually wake up the phone myself, in some cases this has been over an hour past the time it was supposed to remind me. The only time it successfully works, is if I have woken the phone a few minutes early (presumably the phone doesn't go back to a deep sleep for a few minutes or something). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1554504 Title: Calendar reminder does not wake phone when airplane mode is enabled To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1554504/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1627641] Re: Backport netplan to xenial
** Description changed: For snappy (at first at least) we need to provide netplan in xenial, as for the first snappy GA release we must not use any PPAs any more. netplan's NetworkManager backend depends on two patches to read configuration and connections from /run/NetworkManager/. + PATCHES: + https://git.launchpad.net/~network-manager/network-manager/+git/ubuntu/commit/?h=xenial&id=6dcdb85 + REGRESSION POTENTIAL: netplan: The risk for existing installations is practically zero as nplan does not exist in xenial yet and thus will not be pulled in during upgrades. ** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu Xenial) Status: Triaged => In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1627641 Title: Backport netplan to xenial To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1627641/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I'm not sure I agree with the suggestion. Please note I agree with the use-case, I'm just not sure if this is the right way of fixing the problems. Check out https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd/NetworkTarget/ I agree with the reasoning in the article and I think it would make more sense to improve SSSD to detect that networking had changed to switch from offline to online state. We already have code that resets the offline status if libnl tells us so. Maybe we should also add similar hooks for D-Bus API of networkd and NetworkManager? It would be nice to enable SSSD debugging and attach logs that reproduce the problem to this bug report, then we could take a look why the libnl detection failed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1627469 Title: sssd launched before raising network To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sssd/+bug/1627469/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Amr Ibrahim, updated all available packages from proposed repository. My network-manager-gnome version is now 1.2.0-0ubuntu0.16.04.4. Still can't select private key. Fedor, the provided workaround seems to be working. But there is strange message appears that says that my private key is not protected by password. But it is not true, my key is protected. And entered private key password works well. Workaround works well for wired and wifi connections. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1575614 Title: [SRU]Can't select secret key for TLS auth for 802.1X authentication To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/network-manager/+bug/1575614/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1627674] [NEW] single touch vertical scrolling failed
Public bug reported: Single touch vertical scrolling on right edge failed but success in horizontal scrolling on bottom edge. The way to reproduce this issue is 1. un-click "two finger scroll" and "natural scrolling" in "Mouse & Touchpad" setting 2. open libreOffice Calc 3. touch the touchpad by single finger, then horizontal scrolling works but vertical scrolling failed. xinput list: ⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2[master pointer (3)] ⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4[slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ DELL0789:00 06CB:7 8F6 id=11[slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad id=14[slave pointer (2)] ⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3[master keyboard (2)] ↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard id=5[slave keyboard (3)] ↳Power Button id=6[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Video Bus id=7[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Power Button id=8[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Sle ep Button id=9[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Integrated Webcam id=10[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Intel HID events id=12[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ AT Translated Set 2 keyboard id=13[slave keyboard (3)] After i nvestigating, the issue caused by calculate_edge_widths()[1] get a shorter edge width because it treat it as unknown default model, then use ewidth = width * .04 instead of the .07 ratio for MODEL_SYNAPTICS. And this mis-detection is caused by model_lookup_table[] treat 0x0002:0x0007 as MODEL_SYNAPTICS but driver gets 06CB:78F6 actually.
