Hi Luke,

I apologise: there is a single 3.5mm connection at the rear as well. So
overall there are 2 3.5 connections: one in the front, one at the rear.

Thanks.

[Bug 1627612] [NEW] systemctl restart xxx* does not restart inactive services

2016-09-26 Thread Jake Yip
Public bug reported:

Man pages of systemctl indicates that the start, restart, status takes
in [PATTERN], which accepts wildcard.

However, for an inactive service, it does not work UNLESS --all is
provided, which does not make sense for a command like restart. If one
wants to restart only if service is active, there is the try-restart
command.

To replicate

1. Stop a service. `systemctl stop sysstat.service`
2. Restart with wildcard. `systemctl restart sysstat*`
3. Check service status. It should still be inactive.
4. Restart with --all wildcard. `systemctl restart --all sysstat*`
5. Check again, service should have been started.

[Bug 1627613] Re: enable android adbd properly in systemd

2016-09-26 Thread Vicamo Yang
"upstart-local-bridge[930]: Unit name
android-contai...@persist.sys.usb.config\x3d,adb.target is not valid."
So from systemd source, the allowed unit name is:

  #define VALID_CHARS DIGITS LETTERS ":-_.\\"

upstart-local-bridge translates the event (name, value) pair to a unit
name that doesn't conform to systemd's requirement.

[Bug 1625023] Re: switch to systemd on ubuntu phone xenial

2016-09-26 Thread Vicamo Yang
Filed bug 1627613 to track adbd stuff separately.

** Description changed:

Snappy heavily rely on systemd system session and xenial has systemd by
  default.

  [steps to construct systemd-based avila]

  1. flash images built from xenial branch [1]. This should gives a
  working xenial+upstart avila.

  2. Install systemd-sysv rather than upstart-sysv (Bug 1625023)
2.1. rebuild latest ubuntu-touch package from source [2] with patch [3]
applied.
  2.2. download latest systemd-sysv package [4].
  2.3. dpkg -i ubuntu-touch_*.deb systemd-sysv_*.deb

- 3. Install android-tools-adbd for systemd (Bug 1625023)
+ 3. Install android-tools-adbd for systemd (Bug 1627613)
3.1. download prebuilt package [5] or recompile it from source [6] with patch
[7] applied.
3.2. Install the package from Terminal app because it will break adb
connection and interrupt the installation process leaving a very bad state of
the package.

  4. Install prebuilt lxc-android-config package [8] or just correct its
systemd service file by hand as the merge proposal [9] does. (Bug
  1625445, bug 1625916 and bug 1626012).

  5. Reboot.

I've also asked if upstream could consider the third patch for their 5.6
LTS series, as it's not currently there and it would always be better if
they also carry the patch.

[Bug 1624164] Re: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/i915/kbl_dmc_ver1.bin for module i915_bpo

2016-09-26 Thread Timo Aaltonen
i915_bpo is from 4.7, and it's the first release that can use kbl_dmc,
so it's unsurprising to not have it in xenial yet.. and it's not a must-
have, but should enable lower power states. kbl_guc is not used yet nor
is it upstream so can be skipped for now

skl_dmc seems uptodate, _guc should be updated to ver6 to match i915_bpo
which is used on SKL.

This was originally reported at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdepim/+bug/310127

Steps to reproduce:
1) Set time zone to Europe/London (effectively UTC)
2) Create an event that runs from 2300 on day 1 to 0100 on day 2
3) The event is displayed correctly. In fact it displays as two parts labelled
1/2 and 2/2 at the correct times, which seems sensible to me.
4) Change timezone to America/Los Angeles. Settings > Configure KOrganiser >
Time and Date
5) When presented with the dialog 'Keep Absolute Times' choose keep times
6) The result is that the same event now appears as two duplicate events on
consecutive days.

The original reporter suggests that it is sufficient to create the
events in a non-UTC timezone. I just happen to be in a UTC timezone so
these are the steps I took. I'm not even completely sure if this is a
bug but the current way of displaying this seems counter intuitive at
least.

There is some inconsistency in korganizer how time zones are handled: An
appointment that appears at the correct local time in the calendar view
is displayed with times in UTC on mouse-over, in the context view (left
below the month view) and when editing. Further, the UTC times are also
displayed in the "Upcoming Events" area of Kontact's summary view.

The expected behavior is that time zones are handled consistently
matching the setting in Configure Calender -> Date & Time -> Timezone
(which is set to Europe/Berlin, as opposed to UTC, in my case).

The test event you sent me works fine. So I guess it's really a question
of compatibility between korganizer 3.x and 4.x, as korganizer 4.x
apparently assumes UTC if no timezone information is present while
korganizer 3.x assumed my local timezone (Europe/Berlin).

Do you think it's possible to change this assumption in korganizer 4.x?
The alternative would be to run the calender files through some script
or import filter to add timezone information.

[Bug 1627620] [NEW] single touch vertical scrolling failed

2016-09-26 Thread Alex Tu
Public bug reported:

Single touch vertical scrolling on right edge failed but success in
horizontal scrolling on bottom edge.

The way to reproduce this issue is
1. un-click "two finger scroll" and "natural scrolling" in "Mouse & Touchpad"
setting
2. open libreOffice Calc
3. touch the touchpad by single finger, then horizontal scrolling works but
vertical scrolling failed.

After investigating, the issue caused by calculate_edge_widths()[1] get a
shorter edge width because it treat it as unknown default model, then use
ewidth = width * .04 instead of the .07 ratio for MODEL_SYNAPTICS.
And this mis-detection is caused by model_lookup_table[] treat 0x0002:0x0007 as
MODEL_SYNAPTICS but driver gets 06CB:78F6 actually.

So, this issue also could be workaround by add one configuration in
/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics-i2c.conf:
http://paste.ubuntu.com/23232807/

So, I'm confused about if I should proposed a patch to xserver-xorg-

to free desktop upstream [2].

[Bug 1449062] Re: qemu-img calls need to be restricted by ulimit (CVE-2015-5162)

Yes, *any* qemu-img command that you run without providing '-f' will try
to guess the image format. Rather than trying to figure out whether a
particular invokation may or may not be susceptible to attack, the safe
approach is to use '-f' every time.

[Bug 1627630] [NEW] [MIR] taglibs-standard [demote to universe] jakarta-taglibs-standard

2016-09-26 Thread LocutusOfBorg
Public bug reported:

Availability:
- Already in universe and available on all archs (java).

Rationale:
- New tomcat8 needs it, and seems to be a better library instead of the old
jakarta version
(I didn't investigate this, but Debian switched it and there should be a good
reason, I completely trust Emmanuel here)

Security:
- No files installed suid, sgid.
- No binaries installed in sbin.
- Not a plugin to security sensitive software.
- Not a daemon or opening a sensitive port.

Quality assurance:
- Should work without configuration.
- No debconf questions.
- Never had a bug in Debian and Ubuntu.

The status of important bugs in Debian's, Ubuntu's, and upstream's bug
tracking systems must be evaluated. Links to these bug trackers need to be
provided in the MIR report. Important bugs must be pointed out and discussed in
the MIR report.
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?ordering=normal;archive=0;src=taglibs-standard;dist=unstable;repeatmerged=0
 - No open bugs found.

UI standards:
Not applicable.

Dependencies:
I don't think we have issues, since there seems to be no runtime dependencies
on universe packages.

Standards compliance:
Should meet standard, no lintian overrides or warnings.

Maintenance:
Simple package, low maintenance effort, and maintained well in Debian.

Background information:
New tomcat8 requires it.

** Affects: taglibs-standard (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Summary changed:

- [MIR] taglibs-standard

[Bug 1627637] [NEW] bad alloc on large (but not too large) image

2016-09-26 Thread Jeff Abrahamson
Public bug reported:

For this example, I've created an entirely white png (attached to the
bug report) with size 2400 x 36000. I saved it at compression level 9
(or whatever gimp means by that) and in 8-bit RGB. I would expect eog
to be able to display this because 2400 * 36000 * 4 colours is 330 MB,
which is vastly less than the available RAM on my machine. While X
represents window dimensions with 16 bit values, which may perhaps be
signed (I didn't check my host's type definitions), I don't expect eog
to allocate a pixel-to-pixel window for the image. My screen's size is
ample.

This arose because of a real image of the same dimensions, but which I
can't attach here. The behaviour is the same.

jeff@starshine:data_2016-09-01 $ eog /tmp/2400x36000.png

(eog:26198): Gdk-ERROR **: The program 'eog' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 415 error_code 11 request_code 130 (MIT-SHM) minor_code 5)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the GDK_SYNCHRONIZE environment
variable to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

[Bug 1627641] [NEW] Backport netplan to xenial

2016-09-26 Thread Martin Pitt
Public bug reported:

For snappy (at first at least) we need to provide netplan in xenial, as
for the first snappy GA release we must not use any PPAs any more.

netplan's NetworkManager backend depends on two patches to read
configuration and connections from /run/NetworkManager/. These will need
to be backported for full netplan support; but they are not required for
snappy as this will use a snapped NM. However, this will need a
temporary hack
(https://code.launchpad.net/%7Emorphis/netplan/+git/netplan/+merge/306607)
until snaps can actually properly support OS components like
NetworkManager.

REGRESSION POTENTIAL:
netplan: The risk for existing installations is practically zero as nplan does
not exist in xenial yet and thus will not be pulled in during upgrades.
NetworkManager: Nothing in xenial expects/uses /run/NetworkManager/ and as it's
an ephemeral tmpfs there is no risk of existing files there. If the patches are
broken it could in theory happen that NetworkManager also does not properly
read files from /etc/NetworkManager/ any more, so the -proposed package must
verify that existing connections still work.

TEST PLAN:
1. Run "NetworkManager --print-config" and save the output.
2. Install the proposed NetworkManager and confirm that existing connections
(from /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections) still work.
3. Run "NetworkManager --print-config" again and verify that the output is the
same as in step 1.
4. netplan has a very comprehensive integration test suite run as autopkgtest,
which covers NetworkManager (including the /run patches) and network. Confirm
that it succeeds.

[Bug 1627643] [NEW] oops on pi3 (seemingly wlan related)

2016-09-26 Thread Oliver Grawert
Public bug reported:

booting the latest pi3 image from
http://people.canonical.com/~ogra/snappy/all-snaps/daily/current/
with monitor/kbd attached but without any network cable shows an oops on the
screen when console-conf initializes networking (which tries to also bring up
wlan0) this oops does not show when a network cable is plugged in and the
network can be configured correctly.

sadly the first user creation relies on having network available, so it
is a bit hard to get dmesg output when not having a login.

paolo asked for the used cmdline:

Akregator 1.2.1 in KDE 3.5.1. I recently added hundreds of feeds to
akregator. Now, I get a lot of this when akregator tries to fetch feeds:

==

And the red error icon replaces all my feed icons. Whenever I try to
access any article from a feed I already have, I get this:

==

protocol died unexpectedly.
==

For any feed on any host. I even tried changing some default "ulimit"
settings to this, thinking it might help:

==

data seg size (kbytes, -d) unlimited
file size (blocks, -f) unlimited

And it didn't. Restarting doesn't change anything. I tried with and
without using browser cache. Akregator is now useless. Deleting a lot
of feeds will allow akregator to function properly again.

In Kontact on KDE 4.1 one cannot move some recurring events to a
different day. When attempting to move these recurring events to a
different day/time, the time changes yet the day does not. This only
affects events in a calendar that has been imported (in my case, from
KDE 3). Events created on the default calendar behave fine.

Steps to reproduce:
 1) Import calendar from KDE 3.x that includes recurring events. Import as a
new calendar (not a merge).
 2) Drag a recurring event to a new time / date and select "All occurrences".
 3)
 4) Profit!

This bug is still present in Trunk, but it is less consistent.

Steps to reproduce:
1) from a blank calendar, create an event and recur it weekly.
2) With the mouse drag the event to a different time/date
3) Select "All Occurrences"

What happens: Only the hour changes, not the date.

Note that this bug is getting a bit difficult to reproduce. _Sometimes_
the move event works as expected. Try again in a few minutes and the bug
returns (on the same event). So if you triage this and find that it
works for you, leave the event and come back in a few minutes to
retriage on the same event.

people who coordinate meetings with KDE-PIM. It is also a moneyloss

will the user miss his meeting, but he will prepare for and show up to a

I can confirmation of same behaviour in Kontact 4.3.2. Events with
recurrence set to weekly sit glued to Saturday with the occasional time
and date messed up. Impossible the change to a different day without
changing to another than weekly recurrence or removing the weekly
recurrence first!

Workaround for now is to select a daily recurrence every 7 days to
simulate a weekly recurrence. This way the event can then moved around
by dragging or changed without to insist on Saturdays only or messed up
time and date.

Steps to reproduce:
o create a calendar event, place wherever, all good so far
o then enter some recurrence and the event will get stuck on Saturdays no
matter what

Cheers

Johannes

Actually, rebooting is not needed, just close Kmail and open it again.
The attachment that is created before the closing, can be opened, after closing

In the Calender file (probably ~/.kde/share/apps/korganizer/YourName.ics) you
can see that the message (before closing Kmail) is stored inside the calender
file, like this:

HOW TO REPRODUCE:

- Use Kontact.
- Drag a mail from KMAIL and drop to "To-Do list" icon on the left panel.
- A new Todo is created WITHOUT attachments, only some headers from the email
are shown in the description of the Task.

The function works correctly if you drag the email to Calendar. It
creates a new event with the email attached.

As a workaround you can set "Only attach link to message" in the KOrganizer

Then you can do the following:
- drop the email to Calendar icon
- copy the link to email (something like kmail:14327) inserted in the
attachments of the event, then click "Cancel".
- drag again the email on the "To-Do list" icon, add an attachment with the

[Bug 1574610] Re: [DVSPlugin]Missing table nsxv_subnet_ext_attributes

2016-09-26 Thread James Page
[Impact]
python-vmware-nsx lacks the required alembic db migrations; installations will
lack any vmware nsx specific db tables.

[Test Case]
sudo apt-get install python-vmware-nsx neutron-server

neutron-db-manage upgrade head

sudo service neutron-server restart

[Regression Potential]
Minimal; the fix is to actually use an sdist generated tarball; the current
orig.tar.xz is a snapshot generated by the pkg-openstack git based workflow of
merging upstream tags, rather than using upstream generated release tarballs.

I disagree with this, one of the main points of the feature is to open
files while you are reading other ones.

This is an important user facing feature and I can't see why it's listed
a 'low' priority.

We've waited 2 years for an LTS upgrade from 14.04 to 16.04 for evince,
and it seems like we'll have to wait two more for a basic feature.

[Bug 1574610] Re: [DVSPlugin]Missing table nsxv_subnet_ext_attributes

2016-09-26 Thread James Page
The missing alembic migrations is a bit of a side effect for installing
directly from the git source tree; using an sdist generated release
tarball *does* include the alembic migrations, so I've switched over the
Ubuntu packages to use that method instead.

This did reveal that the 8.0.0 release is not actually published to
either pypi or tarballs.openstack.org - it would be really helpful if
the vmware-nsx team could resume publication of released versions of the
NSX driver.

[Bug 1627656] [NEW] missing alembic migrations due to use of git based workflows

2016-09-26 Thread James Page
Public bug reported:

Various openstack related packages are missing required neutron database
migrations due to the direct use of a git based workflow of merging
upstream tags and generating orig.tar.xz directly from the git tree for
packaging. This is *not* the same process as generated a sdist tarball,
and as a result, files that need to reside in the python module get
missed - this includes alembic migrations.

Known impacts:

  networking-odl
  vmware-nsx (bug 1574610)

A simple fix is to switch to using the upstream published release
artefacts, rather than directly using git.

[Bug 1626611] Re: camera not detected when running confined on desktop

2016-09-26 Thread Olivier Tilloy
I’ve tested Jamie’s suggestion, but that didn’t improve things.
After some tinkering, I found that commenting out the following explicit denial
in the browser profile allows access to my USB webcam:

  # QAudioRecorder needs this. We might have to allow this later, but for now
  # just silence the denial
  deny /dev/ r,

This denial is pulled in by the "microphone" policy group, and it
conflicts with the camera policy group (which explicitly allows read
access to /dev/).

[Bug 1554504] Re: Calendar reminder does not wake phone when airplane mode is enabled

2016-09-26 Thread Sam Bull
Since filing this bug, the issue has only got worse. It has been 100%
reproducible for me for the past couple of months. I have a calendar
reminder to go off at 8am. Every morning, it only goes off when I
actually wake up the phone myself, in some cases this has been over an
hour past the time it was supposed to remind me. The only time it
successfully works, is if I have woken the phone a few minutes early
(presumably the phone doesn't go back to a deep sleep for a few minutes
or something).

[Bug 1627641] Re: Backport netplan to xenial

2016-09-26 Thread Martin Pitt
** Description changed:

For snappy (at first at least) we need to provide netplan in xenial, as
for the first snappy GA release we must not use any PPAs any more.

netplan's NetworkManager backend depends on two patches to read
configuration and connections from /run/NetworkManager/. These will need
to be backported for full netplan support; but they are not required for
snappy as this will use a snapped NM. However, this will need a
  temporary hack
  (https://code.launchpad.net/%7Emorphis/netplan/+git/netplan/+merge/306607)
until snaps can actually properly support OS components like
  NetworkManager.

+ PATCHES:
+
https://git.launchpad.net/~network-manager/network-manager/+git/ubuntu/commit/?h=xenial&id=6dcdb85
+
  REGRESSION POTENTIAL:
netplan: The risk for existing installations is practically zero as nplan
does not exist in xenial yet and thus will not be pulled in during upgrades.
NetworkManager: Nothing in xenial expects/uses /run/NetworkManager/ and as
it's an ephemeral tmpfs there is no risk of existing files there. If the
patches are broken it could in theory happen that NetworkManager also does not
properly read files from /etc/NetworkManager/ any more, so the -proposed
package must verify that existing connections still work.

  TEST PLAN:
  1. Run "NetworkManager --print-config" and save the output.
  2. Install the proposed NetworkManager and confirm that existing connections
(from /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections) still work.
  3. Run "NetworkManager --print-config" again and verify that the output is
the same as in step 1.
  4. netplan has a very comprehensive integration test suite run as
autopkgtest, which covers NetworkManager (including the /run patches) and
network. Confirm that it succeeds.

[Bug 1627641] Re: Backport netplan to xenial

AssertionError: Regex matched: 'inet 192.168.5' matches 'inet 192.168.5'

I. e. after "netplan apply" the old DHCP address from the interface does
not disappear when switching to a pure "static addresses" config. This
works in yakkety, and I need to investigate this first (might need a
backported fix to networkd).

[Bug 1627469] Re: sssd launched before raising network

2016-09-26 Thread Jakub Hrozek
I'm not sure I agree with the suggestion. Please note I agree with the
use-case, I'm just not sure if this is the right way of fixing the
problems.

Check out
https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd/NetworkTarget/

I agree with the reasoning in the article and I think it would make more
sense to improve SSSD to detect that networking had changed to switch
from offline to online state. We already have code that resets the
offline status if libnl tells us so. Maybe we should also add similar
hooks for D-Bus API of networkd and NetworkManager?

It would be nice to enable SSSD debugging and attach logs that reproduce
the problem to this bug report, then we could take a look why the libnl
detection failed.

[Bug 1575614] Re: [SRU]Can't select secret key for TLS auth for 802.1X authentication

2016-09-26 Thread Arkady
Amr Ibrahim, updated all available packages from proposed repository. My
network-manager-gnome version is now 1.2.0-0ubuntu0.16.04.4. Still can't
select private key.

Fedor, the provided workaround seems to be working. But there is strange
message appears that says that my private key is not protected by
password. But it is not true, my key is protected. And entered private
key password works well. Workaround works well for wired and wifi
connections.

[Bug 1627674] [NEW] single touch vertical scrolling failed

2016-09-26 Thread Alex Tu
Public bug reported:

Single touch vertical scrolling on right edge failed but success in
horizontal scrolling on bottom edge.

The way to reproduce this issue is
1. un-click "two finger scroll" and "natural scrolling" in "Mouse & Touchpad"
setting
2. open libreOffice Calc
3. touch the touchpad by single finger, then horizontal scrolling works but
vertical scrolling failed.

xinput list:

↳ Integrated Webcam id=10[slave keyboard (3)]

   ↳ AT Translated Set 2 keyboard id=13[slave keyboard (3)]

After i nvestigating, the issue caused by calculate_edge_widths()[1] get a
shorter edge width because it treat it as unknown default model, then use
ewidth = width * .04 instead of the .07 ratio for MODEL_SYNAPTICS.
And this mis-detection is caused by model_lookup_table[] treat 0x0002:0x0007 as
MODEL_SYNAPTICS but driver gets 06CB:78F6 actually.

So, this issue also could be workaround by add one configuration in
/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics-i2c.conf:
http://paste.ubuntu.com/23232807/

So, I'm confused about if I should proposed a patch to xserver-xorg-
input-synaptics debian/patches or having some way to file a pull-request
to free desktop upstream [2].
