[Bug 1450989] Re: USB attached keyboard and mouse don't work at the login time to Ubuntu Trusty Tahr 64 bit
Hi, A workaround for this bug is: Start the machine from scratch with all the USB devices plugged in. Wait for the Grub menu to show on the screen. Using the keyboard select Ubuntu as the operating system to load. Right after selecting the Ubuntu OS, disconnect the USB mouse (be it direct USB plug-in or remote). When the Ubuntu login screen comes up it will be possible to use the keyboard to enter the user-name and the password. Once the Ubuntu environment is established, reconnect the USB mouse., and use it normally. Problem solved, although a bit annoying. [Bug 1463120] Re: Failure to boot if fstab disk mounts fail
As requested, I have now set package to "linux" (ie kernel) due to the point in the boot sequence at which the issue occurs. [Bug 1463303] [NEW] Pithos fails to play and throws error when using VPN
Public bug reported: Expected behaviour: If a VPN was on since before Pithos was started, and the VPN stays on, Pithos should work as if there was no VPN in use. Observed behaviour: When I start up Pithos with the VPN on, it doesn't work. Specifically, * Pithos loads the song info and album art for each song. (So there is some communication with the Pandora server) * Pithos makes no sound. * Pithos tries to play a song. (Appears as if it is loading the first track.) After a few seconds, without outputting any audio, it moves to the next track and displays a text error under the artist name for the first track. The error message is not always the same. For some tracks it says "could not determine type of stream". For others it says "could not open source for reading" * Pithos tries each song for a few seconds, then gives up. After about 6 songs, it stops moving on to the next track, and creates a pop up with one of the 2 above error messages. I can use the Pandora web interface successfully when I'm using a VPN. [Bug 1463263] Re: X11 Forwarding is broken following upgrade to Ubuntu Server 15.04 from 14.10
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1463263/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1463304] [NEW] No way to resize a picture with default software installed on a major and modern OS
Public bug reported: Ubuntu comes with Eye of gnome and Shotwell viewer as default applications to open image files. While Eye of gnome allows to rotate and mirror the image, Shotwell viewer allows to crop, to rotate more precisely, to adjust color or to filter "red eye" effect. But none of both has a resize feature, as surprizing as it is in 2015 ! Of course Gimp does resizing, but it's a bit overkill and a less user-friendly tool. Ideally, if most of usual functions (resize, rotate, mirror, crop, color tasks like red-eye, sepia, graying) would be available in the same tool, like Preview.app does in Mac OS X, it would be a great evolution ! ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1463304 Title: No way to resize a picture with default software installed on a major and modern OS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1463304/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

No, I would prefer if you stick to the 12.04 base (optionally remove the 3.19 kernel or just boot into the original 3.13) and install the special linbirt-1.2.12 from 15.04 for 14.04. [Bug 1132736] Re: Xorg fails to start after installing the hardware enablement stack on precise due to missing symlink after purging old xserver-xorg
** Description changed: + Bug: + + The bug happens whenever the remaining configuration files of the + original X stack is removed, ie purging. There is no error message or anything, just a black screen. Switching to a vt i possible and lightdm/x-0.log shows that a symlink is missing: X: cannot stat /etc/X11/X (No such file or directory), aborting. I updates two computers running precise x86_64 and both had the problem. [Bug 1327412] Re: Delay during PXE Boot, IP-Config gives up
This is the patch that "fix" this issue... Talking to them is wasting my time; hopefully Ubuntu will fix this soon. [Bug 1460945] Re: System Settings Updates/Storage pages lead to high cpu usage even there is no network/io activity
Update summary because one doesn't need a power meter to verify this issue. Just run `top` and you'll find CPU usage rise. I would like to have some profiling on unity/system-settings first, but just have no idea and find no documents to proceed. ** Summary changed: - System Settings Updates/Storage pages consume 700mA or more even there is no network/io activity + System Settings Updates/Storage pages lead to high cpu usage even there is no network/io activity -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1460945 Title: System Settings Updates/Storage pages lead to high cpu usage even there is no network/io activity To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-system-settings/+bug/1460945/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1429427] Re: Unexplainable time jumps in CRON
Hi Stefan, yup yup, same here, only showing for cron related entries in syslog. Also somewhat busy due to a noisy sogo/postfix/openchange/dovecot plus all sorts of extra add-ons. Not nearly as noisy as a firewall logging of course ;-) Can you strace your cron pid for a bit, including forks and hopefully confirm it is sending correct dates to syslog? Next you can try then is to strace your rsyslog, which will be very noisy so you best grep for cron related stuff only ;-) Are you using rsyslog? And are you also seeing that xconsole noise? After my rsyslog restart this morning, not seeing any time jumping for cron in syslog just yet, so it's likely also related to something happening over time, like a buffer or other memory related issue. You could try the same, restart rsyslog and see how long it takes for things to start jumping around again... Black, the issue you are reporting is an upstream one. Please provide a direct URL to your e-mail to the mailing list once you have made it so that it may be tracked via http://vger.kernel.org/vger- lists.html . [Bug 1442549] Re: Mouse randomly stops working
It behaves the same with the latest kernel. However, it's most likely a hardware error. I bought a new mouse - the samel model and it works fine while the old one still randomly disconnects. I also found an explanation for the error: > "most probably it’s a result of hardware failure rather than a driver or kernel bug. USB has an over-current protection, which gets triggered when power consumption from the port is too high." https://paulphilippov.com/articles/how-to-fix-device-not-accepting-address-error http://askubuntu.com/questions/341241/ubuntu-wont-start-with-device-descriptor-read-64-error-32-what-this-messag https://forum.manjaro.org/index.php?topic=5423.0 I noticed that one workaround is to connect the mouse via a USB hub - in that case the mouse reconnects immediately so it's unresponsive only for one or two seconds.
