[Bug 1302620] Re: [FFe] Remove remotelinux plugin and its dependencies from the QtC package
The change is partially structural. The plan is to provide separate source packages for the most used plugins. That will make the now huge QtC easier to trace, debug and so maintain. We did the same with the cmake plugin and the process of upstreaming our changes are started. The problem with upstreaming these changes is that Digia's contribution intake process is slow and heavy. This change is the first step to prove to the upstream that our contribution is viable. So this separate remotelinux, cmake, etc plugin source package structure is going to stay. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1302620 Title: [FFe] Remove remotelinux plugin and its dependencies from the QtC package To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qtcreator/+bug/1302620/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Found a related bug IMHO: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1063658 With that one 'xinput disable x' was also workaround. If you go and read that bug report, you can see that it really is about the same thing, only that the user didn't use external monitor for a while and when he did, he reported "If second monitor is plugged flickering of windows stops and system starts to turn off and on both monitors with different resolutions." - sounds like he's talking about the same thing to me. [Bug 1286516] Re: [gen2 regression mesa ] Stellarium + Trusty 14.04: white screen
Diego Urbina, Thank you for the info. This is obviously the same problem with a 82865G card. Mesa version 9 is incompatible with some applications (eg Stellarium) from Quantal 12.10 and today 14.04 LTS Trusty (but GoogleEarth is ok). The amendment was made in 2012 in version 8 mesa was corrected the same problem that existed at launch LTS Precise. But today, the 82865G card that was qualified by an expert in this forum of "historical card" (... not to say "Jurassic Card") there is (alas) unlikely that the same correction is made in mesa 9, unless we are likely to report the problem. Downgrade mesa 8.0.4 with Trusty is ok (eg Stellarium works), but it is already beginning to pose problems of compatibility with Abiword is therefore only temporary relief solution, still dream a correction mesa 9 ! [Bug 1296281] Re: poor choice for browser icon
excuse me, but how hard is it to change this? The arguments given are all obviously false. First, I was told that the icon has been this way for a LOO time. Well, the answer to exactly how long is still outstanding. It's not been longer than the last LTS as far as I can see. Then, I'm being told that the theme is no longer under active development. Well, rmadison tells me that the package has seen a new release in EVERY Ubuntu release all the way back to lucid. Then I'm being told to remove symlinks that don't even exist. So, to summarize again. I think it's a bad idea to include a pointer in that picture. [Bug 1296281] Re: poor choice for browser icon
By the way, the reason that maybe upstream is using the icon successfully without user confusion might be (speculating here) that they usually do not use it as part of a fixed point on the screen. It would be much less confusing for example if this was only visible when you alt-tab etc. Unless you have the left unity side-bar set to auto- hide this pointer is very visible there and in the place where unity WANTS most of the mouse pointer action to happen. So, again, IMNSHO it will easily confuse users who search for the pointer first in that area. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1296281 Title: poor choice for browser icon To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/humanity-icon-theme/+bug/1296281/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1299134] Re: grub-installer failed during install trusty 64bit
@psusi, this is a very valid issue and I could reproduce it on an Asus UX32VD with UEFI. On this machine, there is no way in the system setup to select between UEFI or BIOS. If I boot a 32 bit image from an USB stick, it will boot in BIOS mode. Installation is successful and the EFI partition is not created. If I boot a 64bit image, it will boot in EFI mode. If a 32bit OS is already installed and I choose a side-by-side installation then there is no warning, EFI partition is not created and the installer crashes with this bug. This is the issue I reported in bug 1302418. I'm reopening this issue and set it to critical given the number of reports already received. ** Changed in: grub-installer (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => Triaged ** Also affects: grub-installer (Ubuntu Trusty) Importance: Critical Status: Triaged ** Changed in: grub-installer (Ubuntu Trusty) Assignee: (unassigned) => Canonical Foundations Team (canonical-foundations) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1299134 Title: grub-installer failed during install trusty 64bit To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub-installer/+bug/1299134/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

** Also affects: grub-installer (Ubuntu Trusty) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: grub-installer (Ubuntu Trusty) Assignee: (unassigned) => Canonical Foundations Team (canonical-foundations) ** Changed in: grub-installer (Ubuntu Trusty) Importance: Undecided => Critical ** Changed in: grub-installer (Ubuntu Trusty) Status: New => Confirmed ** Description changed: During a side-by-side installation, the EFI partition is not created.. If it doesn't already exist (which given recent bug reports seems to be the case on systems with MS Windows installed), installation fails at grub stage. TEST CASE: + Note: This test case simulates in qemu the behavior found on real HW eg. bug 1299134 + 1. Install trusty in BIOS mode $ qemu-img create -f qcow2 /tmp/disk.img 16G $ qemu-system-x86_64 -enable-kvm \ -drive file=/tmp/disk.img,if=ide,media=disk \ -pflash /tmp/bios.bin \ -cdrom $ISO 2. Reboot 3. Reuse the same disk and Install trusty in UEFI mode for example start qemu with the option -pflash=/tmp/ovmf.bin and the binary file attached to this bug report. $ qemu-system-x86_64 -enable-kvm \ -drive file=/tmp/disk.img,if=ide,media=disk \ -pflash /tmp/bios.bin \ -cdrom $ISO 4. Proceed to the partitioner and select a side-by-side installation 5. Proceed with the rest of the installation ACTUAL RESULT: This crash EXPECTED RESULT: There are several ways to address this issue, I see 2 options there are probably more: 1. Warn the user and refuse to proceed past the partitioner 2. Create an EFI partition like the entire disk installation does. [Bug 930447] Re: Unable to start Ubuntu 12.04 live CD with syslinux loader on Pentium M x86 Laptop due to bug in PAE kernel, initramfs or syslinux
This may not have been a burning issue in the past but, with Win XP going unsupported, there are many Celeron/Pentium M processor systems (concurrent with Win XP). that are now looking for easy solutions. I am in exactly that position and have never touched any flavour of Linux before. I needed something reasonably well packaged without a huge learning curve up front. I tried various other flavours of Linux (including Lubuntu 12.04) and none of them really floated my boat but then I found the nonpae 12.04 desktop build mentioned by Dave Henningsson in reply #84 and that is exactly what an ignorant exile from Win XP was looking for. Easy to install, well packaged, no learning of command line fiddles and easy to use for a Linux first timer. Thanks Dave. If it was that easy without searching then I guess more ex XP users would migrate rather than give up and go away. Incidentally - Dave said he hadn't fully tested this build - I have given it quite a bending and have found no problems so far. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/930447 Title: Unable to start Ubuntu 12.04 live CD with syslinux loader on Pentium M x86 Laptop due to bug in PAE kernel, initramfs or syslinux To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/930447/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1287736] Re: System Settings -> Accounts and back shows black screen and 5s delay
Right now unity-mir has a one-to-one connection between a Session and a Surface (legacy design decision that we'll move away from). [Bug 1304257] [NEW] There should be a quit signal sent to sessions instead of killing them directly
