[Bug 1011676] Re: empathy-chat crashed with SIGILL in JSC::Interpreter::executeCall()

[Bug 977158] Re: unity video lens always re-thumbnails
Well, I guess not many people have videos that fail to thumbnail in 30secs. Anyway, I've been using the attached patch for a while with no problems. It just checks if nautilus reported the thumbnailing as failed, and if so, displays the generic 'video' icon. ** Patch added: "check_for_failed.patch" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-lens-video/+bug/977158/+attachment/3193247/+files/check_for_failed.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/977158 Title: unity video lens always re-thumbnails To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-lens-video/+bug/977158/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 776345] Re: Ubuntu 11.04 blank screen on boot
I have changed the status of this bug because I am now using the computer which originally was giving me problems and it is now working fine. I upgraded to Xubuntu 12.04 and everything works perfectly out of the box. I upgraded with a Live CD from Ubuntu 10.10 to Xubuntu 12.04 and had no problems whatsoever. The upgrade allowed me to keep my old files and settings and was rather quick and painless. To anyone who might have had problems with the 11.04 release, I strongly recommend upgrading to 12.04 and you should have a good, solid working system in no time. I initially tried Ubuntu 12.04 (Unity) with a Live CD and although the screen wasn't completely blank as before(11.04), it was still pretty hard to see anything. However, with Ubuntu 12.04 I could at least switch to a terminal session, which I couldn't do before--that's why I was never able to submit any sort of bug report, because with 11.04 NOTHING was working, not even a terminal to get apport to gather the bug report. So after noticing some improvement with Ubuntu 12.04 I figured I'd try Xubuntu 12.04 which uses the Xfce Desktop environment and is quite a bit more compatible with older hardware than Unity is. After noticing that my old PC was responding well to the Xubuntu 12.04 Live CD , I decided to perform the upgrade. The upgrade worked well and as I stated before, it was also very quick. I am now writing this with the PC that originally had problems with 11.04 and it is obviously working very well with 12.04. I don't claim to know what the cause was, but my guess is that it might have had to do with the (old) Linux Kernel's problems with Power Management from a year ago. Whatever the cause might have been, I can very honestly say that everything has been fixed and it is all working fine. So I hope this helps anyone. Try upgrading to 12.04 and everything should work out of the box (try a Live CD first, just to make sure). [Bug 996791] Re: Xubuntu 12.04 extremely slow login
@ferro, thanks alot for pointing this out, I can confirm this here. Removing i386 libraries solved the problem for me. I fixed this by moving the grubx64.efi file from /EFI/ubuntu to EFI/BOOT and renaming it to: BOOTX64.EFI This was proposed at: http://www.rodsbooks.com/efi-bootloaders/installation.html I also tried using an efi startup script called "startup.nsh" containing just one line: fs0:\EFI\ubuntu\grubx64.efi I put this directly on the efi partition. However this alone did not work. [Bug 1014234] [NEW] Firefox hogs all memory and swap
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 12.04 i386 on thinkpad x41 The installed firefox often hang and hog all memory and swap. Most times when a flasvideo is running, the whole computer stopped then. Sometimes it is possible to switch to a console, there after 10 minutes for login (its really that slow) TOP shows that firefox and a plugin-container process eat all ram and then all swap. After 15min or else a dialog "jscript hanging" appears on the desktop, when stopped the memory comes back. Firefox turns to normal operation until next hang. [Bug 1014236] [NEW] mmg crashes after 10s with fortify: longjmp causes uninitialized stack frame
Public bug reported: MKVtoolnix's gui crashes 10s + 190ms ater launch (yes, it crashes on a timer). *** longjmp causes uninitialized stack frame ***: mmg terminated(in libc: __fortify_fail) It does happen only under unusual conditions, but a stack corruption is a serious problem anyway. Conditions: Enabled checking of new version (on by default - Why?? Filled as bug #1014229) New version has to be checked (set last_check=0 in ~/.config/mkvtoolnix/config to be sure) Unreachable DNS servers This was caused by a crashed server in my case. Unplugging the network cable from the computer works (unless networmanager is used - the interface&routes need to stay up, so the packets are blackholed instead of returning hard errors) The sure way is probably "echo nameserver {IP} >/etc/resolv.conf", while {IP} is an unused IP address on local network. All done on 64b ubuntu Precise. console output will be attached immediately, strace output if requested. [Bug 990032] Re: Dual monitor sticky edges are still enabled when turned off in display manager and Launcher placement is "All Displays"
Hmm, feels almost like a regression of bug 961285 to me. ** Changed in: unity Status: Incomplete => Confirmed ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed ** Changed in: unity Importance: Low => Medium ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Low => Medium ** Description changed: + See also: bug 987787 + Release: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Unity Version: 5.10.0-0ubuntu6 Expected: Sticky edges turns off when the switch is set to Off Actual: Sticky edges remains on regardless of switch position I've got two dual monitors running as an extended desktop. By default the Launcher placement property is set to "All Displays" and sticky edges is set to "On". I like having the launcher on both desktops, but sticky edges is driving me nuts. So, naturally, I turned off sticky edges and left the launcher on all displays. Unfortunately, it seems that the On/Off switch for sticky edges serves no purpose when Launcher Placement is set to "All Displays". The option to disable sticky edges in this scenario should be allowed, or at the very least the On/Off switch should be disabled and forced to "On" as to not confuse the user. [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
#301 - Steve... Yes, I have removed all my USB devices, including USB speakers and USB wireless Logitech mouse, and so far so good. (I also plugged the USB speakers back briefly, causing a freeze within a minute or two). "So far so good" = +- 2 hours of video streaming, which, like I say, otherwise causes a freeze within minutes. [Bug 950160] Re: Unity blocks other programs from binding globally to Super+* or Alt+* (* = any key)
** Description changed: + WORKAROUND 1: + Run CCSM and under "Ubuntu Unity Plugin" change the key binding for "Key to show the launcher" to something else (e.g. Super+U). Then log out and in again. As long as no compiz plugin is bound to the single Super key any more, compiz will no longer block other apps from binding to Super+other_keys. + + WORKAROUND 2: + 1. Write a script or figure out the command to do the action you want. + 2. Run ccsm. + 3. Enable the "Commands" plugin + 4. In the Commands settings, fill in the command line you want and bind it to key Super+P. + Now Unity will run your specified command on Super+P, but still handle the Super key as usual. + + ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: Using : 12.04 Beta 1, updated. and Unity. In 11.10 clicking: - the function key (Fn) + (F1) allowed to switch between the laptop screen and the external monitor. After upgrading to 12.04 this no more works and instead I get an unexpected behavior: see the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vEnrV5TwXo System: Dell XPS 15 L502X ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: ubuntu-sso-client 2.99.90-0ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-18.28-generic 3.2.9 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-18-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 1.94.1-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 Date: Thu Mar 8 19:18:42 2012 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 "Oneiric Ocelot" - Release amd64 (20111012) PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: ubuntu-sso-client UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to precise on 2012-03-02 (6 days ago) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/950160 Title: Unity blocks other programs from binding globally to Super+* or Alt+* (* = any key) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/950160/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
