[Bug 1005674] Re: LibreOffice crashes on load with a specific user
Kurt Kraut, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. One may execute at the Terminal: sudo apt-get -y install libreoffice-dbg uno-libs3-dbg ure-dbg && sudo service apport start force_start=1 If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now reproduce the crash, then open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. Please follow https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LibreOfficeBugWrangling when you file this crash report so the necessary information is provided. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Changed in: libreoffice (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1005674 Title: LibreOffice crashes on load with a specific user To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1005674/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1005785] [NEW] Convert parts of elementary-xfce to png during pkg-build
Public bug reported: While it eases maintenance, svgs are partly causing problematic behavior in Xfce. The two most prominent examples are the panel and its plugins and xfwm4-tabwin (aka alt-tab). In either svgs result in ugly scaling, converting the icons in question to png completely fixes that. Converting the whole icon-theme wouldn't make sense, especially icons in */symbolic have to remain svg to remain functional. I'm proposing to convert at least the icons in apps/ and panel/ At the moment we're shipping the most crucial icons as svg and png, so another benefit would be that we could drop those duplicates. Finally svgs are reportedly a bit slower than png in rendering with gtk, while I'm not an expert as to how much the difference really is it might be another argument to take into account. ** Affects: xubuntu-artwork (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1005785 Title: Convert parts of elementary-xfce to png during pkg-build To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xubuntu-artwork/+bug/1005785/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1005510] Re: yelp steals focus, cannot be killed, hogs system
>From the link provided by Shaun, i see that this is known for a long time. Nobody has solved it yet, but there is a way to get your system back without having to reboot: write script 'killall yelp' (killall gnome-help as suggested in the links doesn't work for me), create a launcher and add the icon to the unity launcher. Clicking this kills the yelp window (i wonder why Force Quit doesn't(?)). I'm happy now i don't have to 'reisub' all the time anymore... Nobody seems to be doing anything about it... why? In my eyes, this is not a small problem. Doesn't anybody use the 'help' function? For me this issue is solved, I know what to do next time, but i can image things like this drive people away from ubuntu/linux -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1005510 Title: yelp steals focus, cannot be killed, hogs system To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/yelp/+bug/1005510/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1005797] [NEW] Regression in hibernation from oneiric to precise
Public bug reported: Hi, I know that ubuntu does not support the use of the hibernation feature found in the linux kernel. However, I would like to point out that on my system (a Phenom system with ASROCK motherboard) hibernation worked perfectly on all ubuntu versions, but is now broken on precise. Asked to hibernate, the system does everything it should and shuts down, to immediately restart by itself a second later. When system restarts, it perfectly resumes from the hibernation image. I suspect this is a regression in the 3.2 kernel wrt 3.0. If the ubuntu kernel team does not want to look into this, please at least propagate all the relevant info upstream. Hibernation is important to some: (i) some desktops still consume a ton of power in suspend mode and (ii) some laptops (notably the eeepc) do not last more than 24-36 hours in suspend mode because the battery is very small. Hence, if you suspend them and forget to wake them up in time you certainly experience data loss from the running apps that might have unsaved stuff. [Bug 945006] Re: Screen flickers heavily after upgrading to 12.04 beta 1
Hi, after reading comment #27, I upgraded again from 11.10 to 12.04 and the problem has disappeared almost completely. Now there is no flickering during regular use of the laptop. There is a small nuisance left though, don't know if it is worth fixing. Short flickering appears during logging in: 1. Boot laptop 2. Enter the password and press enter 3. Wait for log in <- flickering occurs here 4. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. [Bug 999522] Re: [SRU] Fix problems in Qt dragging when all of the window target has been shaped out for input

[Bug 1005804] [NEW] [R210 II] Deadlock in hid_reset when Dell iDRAC is reset
Public bug reported: Hi, thanks to the help of Ben Hutchings we've found an issue with several low end Dell servers which is beeing tracked in Debian bug http://bugs.debian.org/670398 Since we see the same issue on Dell R210 II with Ubuntu 10.04 (which is aswell Linux 2.6.32 based) and http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/hardware/201107-8313/ claims that's supported hardware, it would be great if you could take a look at the proposed fix aswell. You can reproduce the issue easily when issuing a 'racadm racreset' via SSH on the included iDRAC 6 KVM card. You'll afterwards see one of the [events/$x] processes of the kernel in state D and interaktive logins on the operating system will no longer work. You can still connect with 'ssh -T'. [Bug 999522] Re: [SRU] Fix problems in Qt dragging when all of the window target has been shaped out for input
** Description changed: In Unity-2d we use input shaping to define which part of our window accepts user input, unfortunately Qt did not have support for that feature when dragging from a Qt applications resulting in impossibility of dragging in applications like Mumble or KMail. We fixed this issue with a patch to Qt (that was accepted upstream) but sadly that patch had a bug. This means we need a new patch otherwise when on multimonitor scenarios the dropping into the secondary launcher from the drash does still does not work. The new upstream patch (already accepted) can be found at https://codereview.qt-project.org/#change,24361 (it needs to replace/update kubuntu_33_shaped_drag.diff that only had a partial version of the patch) Fixes https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity-2d/+bug/966236 + + Copied from the unity-2d bug: + Setup: + Multi-monitors, launcher per screen + + Steps to Repro: + 1. [Bug 999337] Re: resolvconf(8): misleading description of dns-* options
Nathan and I have come up with an improved version of the man page. I attach it here in case the Ubuntu maintainers want to include it without having to wait for the new Debian package to appear. The attached file is the man page for the Debian package, so it still needs to be patched for Ubuntu, e.g., to replace references to "/etc/resolvconf/run/resolv.conf" to "/run/resolvconf/resolv.conf". ** Attachment added: "new manpage" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/resolvconf/+bug/999337/+attachment/3167475/+files/resolvconf_20120528th1.8 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/999337 Title: resolvconf(8): misleading description of dns-* options To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/resolvconf/+bug/999337/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1005810] [NEW] virt-clone changes the image format to raw
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS amd64 libvirt 0.9.8-2ubuntu17.1 Please check this bug report at Red Hat and backport the fix from upstream, as it also affects libvirt as shipped in Ubuntu 12.04 and is quite an annoyance / makes using virt-clone unrealiable: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=795400 Description of problem: Using virt-clone or the virt-manager changes the image format of the copied image file to raw if the source (and destination) is a qcow2 file. How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a VM with a qcow2-based image file 2. use virt-clone --auto-clone (or any other valid options) 3. try to start the clone, the harddisk is not bootable Actual results: VM cannot boot. Expected results: The VM should boot. Additional info: Changing the image-file-format in the XML back to qcow2 will allow the VM boot. ** Affects: libvirt (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1005810 Title: virt-clone changes the image format to raw To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/1005810/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
