I followed the advise given in Post #5 of the above by logging out
before re-starting or shutting down my computer and .goutputstream-*
files stop appearing when I start my computer this morning.

[Bug 827934] Re: colord crashed with SIGABRT in raise()

2012-05-13 Thread NEON SAMURAI
I got this same error when adding a printer to my laptop. The printer is
a network printer so the error didnt occur on startp, install, or after
all the updates were done. It only occured when i added the network
printer.

My printer is a brother hl2270dw if that helps (im connecting through
lan), though reading peoples coments it doesnt seem to matter the model
of printer.

i will be at work on monday and will find out if it occurs when adding
the networked lexmark, and dymo labelwriter

[Bug 998642] [NEW] network-manager failed to set custom DNS for Mobile Broadband (ppp)

2012-05-13 Thread Dixon Xavier
Public bug reported:

I added custom DNS nameservers (OpenDNS) to Mobile Broadband connection.
The output of nm-tools is:

dixon@dixon-vaio:~$ nm-tool

NetworkManager Tool

  Type: Mobile Broadband (GSM)
  Driver:cdc_acm

Here it shows DNS nameserver of OpenDNS as i set in NetworkManager. (
208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220 ).

But cat /etc/resolv.conf output shows:
dixon@dixon-vaio:~$ cat /etc/resolv.conf
# Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf(8)
# DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND -- YOUR CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN
nameserver 202.148.202.4
nameserver 202.148.200.3
nameserver 127.0.0.1

Which is provided by my ISP.

Also dig google.com shows:

2012-05-13 Thread Micah Gersten
This bug was fixed in the package boinc - 7.0.27+dfsg-3
Sponsored for Thomas Ward (trekcaptainusa-tw)

---
boinc (7.0.27+dfsg-3) unstable; urgency=low

  * Now truly reconstituting compatibility with SETI
(Closes: #672328, lp: #991179).
  * builds with gcc 4.7 (Closes: #671999)
Thanks to Matthias Klose for his patch, had sadly only seen it after
I patched it myself :o/ The NMU of his should not kick in because
of the SETI incompatibility.

[Bug 991713] Re: [8086:4232] Wireless not connecting in 12.04 Intel Wifi Link 5100

2012-05-13 Thread Gerhard Radatz
I have the same bug on a Dell Vostro 1520 with Intel Wifi Link 5100 adapter.
Wireless did show up as being "connected" after login, but in fact
communication did not work.
Turning it off and on again using the hardware switch was a possible workaround.

I can confirm that the workaround in the problem description (disabling
N mode) makes wifi work right from the beginning.

[Bug 872515] Re: Onboard Keyboard appears on desktop when GNOME Services is checked

2012-05-13 Thread EspeonEefi
As a workaround until this bug is fixed, you can create the file
~/.config/autostart/onboard-autostart.desktop with the following two
lines:

[Desktop Entry]
Hidden=true

This will override the autostart request in /etc/xdg/autostart/onboard-
autostart.desktop. For more details on the freedesktop.org autostart
speicification, see http://standards.freedesktop.org/autostart-spec
/autostart-spec-latest.html .

[Bug 185600] Re: [Upstream] LibreOffice repeatedly freezes after resuming laptop from sleep

2012-05-13 Thread David
I confirm the recurrence of this bug in Precise Pengolin, with the
nvidia-current driver version 295.40-0ubuntu1 installed.
After a resume from a suspend during which LibreOffice was running (tested with
writer), there is an abnormally high CPU usage (with possible hangup) when
scrolling up/down or paging up/down in the document.

[Bug 998647] [NEW] Backlight control doesn't work with 3.2.0-24-generic kernel on a Toshiba notebook

2012-05-13 Thread Tim Istomin
Public bug reported:

When booting with 3.2.0-24-generic kernel the backlight adjustment stops
functioning somewhere in the middle of the boot process (plymouth
screen). When KDE is loaded, pressing the Fn-F6,F7 keys shows the
backlight control bar, but actual brightness is not affected. However it
works correctly when using the 3.2.0-18-generic kernel.

[Bug 977804] Re: Unity crashes when many windows are opened

2012-05-13 Thread bojo42
Same here with "intel_do_flush_locked failed: No space left on device"
on up to date precise amd64 and a HP NC6400 with 945GM. The workaround
for Unity is CTRL-ALT-F1 and "unity --replace". So at least X does not
crash and our opened windows and unsaved data are still there, but it is
so annoying and after all the destop is unstable.

Who has ideas for further debugging?

[Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 64bit completely freezes frequently

2012-05-13 Thread Hein
@ Norm. That's bad. I wanted to try the 32 bit version as I encounter
the freezes with the 64 bit version. But if the 32 bit version does the
same than that's no way out. Did you try the 64 bit version as well?
It's necessary for the solution of this bug to know if both versions (64
and 32 bit) have this bug.

I will probably try the 32 bit version as live version and test if it
does have the same lock ups. If not I will install it and test it
further. I would still love to use Ubuntu 12.04 and I don't mind to use
the 32 bit version as the 64 bit doesn't really have any direct
advantages for me.

Strange that the importance of the bug is still undecided and has not
yet been assigned to anyone. 25 users that take the trouble to report
this bug must imply that there are at least hundreds, if not thousands
of users running into trouble with this bug. And this bug is a real show
stopper as it completely freezes the system! I ask my self what the
developers are doing? Are they asleep?

[Bug 390989] Re: [SecurityRoadmap] Locked screen shows the desktop

I think this problem is worse now.

This morning I opened the lid to the laptop and I could see the entire
desktop for over 1 minute but the system was not responsive but i could
see the mouse and I could bring Unity sidebar to front. I do think I
could change focus on witch windows should be in front (little unsure)

Suddenly the locked screen window appeared and after I logged in again
the system started to work as usual

[Bug 270395] Re: cannot resolve windows host name

2012-05-13 Thread Tor Sjowall
This problem is still unsolved.

The host names of windows PCs are not visible to Linux programs with a regular
installation of Samba,
i.e. from Linux 'ping win_pc' does not work, but from windows 'ping linux_pc'
does work.

Also, 'nmblookup win_pc' works, while 'nslookup win_pc' does not work.

Installing winbind and changing the nsswitch.conf's host: definition to 'host:
files dns wins' fix the problem.
This is not obvious to a naive user.

I suggest changing the host definition in nsswitch.conf on installation of
winbind
I also suggest installing winbind together with Samba

This would improve the user experience when working in a mixed Ubuntu/Windows
network environment.
The whole point of the Samba package is to make it possible to work in such a
mixed environment.

[Bug 43066] Re: Window list behaves bad when panel is vertical.

2012-05-13 Thread Andrzej
For people who still want a Gnome2-like desktop with a vertical panel
like the one described in this bug report:

We have recently extended the the Xfce (Xubuntu) panel to support a
vertical panel/horizontal items layout. Changes go well beyond the
tasklist. Starting from Xfce 4.10, vertical "deskbar" is one of three
supported panel modes and all plugins are (expected to be) aware of it.

To see how it works, you need to change the panel "mode" and "number of
rows" (a bit unfortunate name - in vertical panels "rows" are
"columns").

[Bug 998658] [NEW] install aborts before completion; MD5SUM correct for download

2012-05-13 Thread AAM
Public bug reported:

installing 12.04 over 11.10 using downloaded ISO (md5sum correct) burnt
to DVD. Install aborted about 30% of way through installation after
copying files. All parameters w.r.t keyboard, locale, users already sey.
The download updates was not checked, but system was connected to
internet. Partition size large enough; using a separate /home directory
(as existed for 11.10).

Will attempt reinstall and expect system is dead in the meantime. If
fails a second time, will install 11.10 and then upgrade to 12.04.
