[Bug 685946] Re: Lithuanian translation of "Program files" and "Application Data" folders (see file shell32_Lt.rc) causes problems with some software for Windows

2012-03-08 Thread Mantas Kriaučiūnas
Wine Developers agreed to remove a possibility to translate system
folders, see http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-
devel/2012-January/093846.html (all discussions:
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-devel/2012-January/093835.html )

It seems this bug is fixed in Wine 1.4rc1, see this commit bt Francois Gouget:
shell32: Don't translate the shell folder paths
http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commit/6fc6cf6935ff7aac005c080873db31fd706e359a

But problem still appears in all Wine 1.2.x versions :(

[Bug 949574] Crash report cannot be processed

2012-03-08 Thread Apport retracing service
Thank you for your report!

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the
developers failed (it does not generate a useful symbolic stack trace). This
might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on your system
at the time of the report:

libnss3 version 3.13.1.with.ckbi.1.88-1ubuntu5 required, but
3.13.1.with.ckbi.1.88-1ubuntu6 is available
tzdata version 2011n-2 required, but 2012b-1 is available

Please upgrade your system to the latest package versions. If you still
encounter the crash, please file a new report.

Thank you for your understanding, and sorry for the inconvenience!

[Bug 949216] Re: software center doesn t work ubuntu 11.10

2012-03-08 Thread Vadim Rutkovsky
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the
crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 949725] [NEW] whats new does not refresh on db changes

2012-03-08 Thread Michael Vogt
Public bug reported:

The "Whats new" category does not refresh on db changes (e.g. when new
content is added via the software-center-agent web api).

TEST CASE:
1. rm -rf ~/.cache/software-center (or move it aside)
2. open software-center in a terminal
3. wait a few seconds until you see " softwarecenter.ui.gtk3.app - INFO -
software-center-agent finished with status 0" in the terminal
4. verify that the "Whats new" content in the main window does not change
5. install software-center from ooneiric-proposed
6. repeat 1-3 and verify that it updates this time

[Bug 949729] [NEW] package gconf2 3.2.3-3ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 127

2012-03-08 Thread Olivier Cortès
Public bug reported:

I was upgrading from up-to-date Oneiric to Precise, in a « Parallels

Oneiric worked perfectly so far under Parallels Desktop.

Note: when `do-release-upgrade` finished, I told it not to reboot
immediately. I ran `sudo apt-get install --reinstall libgconf-2-4`, and
the installation went fine, without the error reported during the
upgrade process.

[Bug 949727] [NEW] HP Compaq 6720s does not suspend

2012-03-08 Thread Timur Elzhov
Public bug reported:

When trying to suspend laptop, either by choosing "Suspend" from menu or
from the keyboard, laptop get suspended by about 1 sec, then it
spontaneously resumes up again. It probably depends on the HardDrive

problem occurs less frequently.

Using s2ram from uswsusp package works a bit better, but sometimes has

[Bug 949732] [NEW] use-format-literals.patch breaks compilation of glr grammars

2012-03-08 Thread Roger Ferrer Ibanez
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu precise (development branch)
Release:12.04

bison:
  Installed: 1:2.5.dfsg-2ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1:2.5.dfsg-2ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 1:2.5.dfsg-2ubuntu1 0
500 http://es.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

When compiling a C (not C++) GLR grammar, Ubuntu's patched Bison 2.5
generates an invalid file that cannot be compiled because yyerror is
called with more arguments than parameters.

For instance, in my grammar the generated .c file contains two calls to
yyerror like this one

yyerror (parsed_tree, "%s", yymsg);

which is wrong since yyerror in my grammar only has two parameters: that
extra "%s" is amiss.

Note that there are other calls to yyerror in the glr.c skeleton which
do not suffer from this problem.

Upstream version 2.5 from GNU site works fine.

Kind regards,

[Bug 937546] Re: package nautilus-dropbox (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-removal script returned error exit status 2

2012-03-08 Thread Raphaël Hertzog
(Subscribing David Euresti of Dropbox to this bug since this bug is in
the official Dropbox package and not in the Ubuntu one)

I looked into this bug even though it's not in the Ubuntu package. The
postrm is failing with exitcode 2. After analysing the postrm, and
having made some tries, I believe that it's the "apt-key rm 5044912E"
(function uninstall_key) that is failing and returning.

┏(ubuntu-devel-i386) rivendell:~/tmp
┗(511)$ sudo apt-key rm 5044912E
gpg: key "5044912E" not found: eof
gpg: 5044912E: delete key failed: eof
┏(ubuntu-devel-i386) rivendell:~/tmp
┗(512)$ echo $?
2

I would suggest to stop relying on apt-key and instead you should
provide a keyring file in /usr/share/keyrings/ and just put a symlink to
this file in /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/ in the postinst configure (and drop
that symlink in the postrm purge). It's cleaner.

Otherwise you should either ignore the failure "apt-key rm" or only call
it after having it checked that the key to remove is still in APT's
keyring.

[Bug 909488] Re: nautilus-dropbox forbids dropbox's non-free binaries to replace themselves by properly installing dropbox system-wide

2012-03-08 Thread Raphaël Hertzog
I also want to highlight that Dropbox (the company) provides a single
package and that it doesn't work across all Ubuntu releases (due to the
different GNOME versions and changes at the nautilus level). So there's
real value in having our own nautilus-dropbox that works with each
corresponding Ubuntu release.

[Bug 928501] Re: Precise will ship totally broken ebox packages

2012-03-08 Thread Jorge Salamero Sanz
Hi Micah,

Zentyal is Ubuntu specific, we not only we develop for Ubuntu, but we
depend on specific Ubuntu components like upstart, the versions of the
packages in the Ubuntu archive, etc.

Eventually Zentyal could be ported to different distros but this would
be a new feature that will require changes not only in the packaging but
also in the source code; because of that we still think (as upstream)
that we are Ubuntu specific.

James,

about these ebox- prefixed upstart jobs, are for Zentyal own daemons,
like the log parser or the AD synchronization, or for services we like
to start using upstart.

[Bug 844044] Re: Unity Greeter - Add Network Login option

2012-03-08 Thread Bolesław Tokarski
>>"We want a user list *and* we want the ability to enter a user-name by hand"
- could you define who "we" are and some use-cases where you have a list of
users and and also other accounts not in the list but useful to log in as?<<

I can give you a use case, though it may be different than that of
Thomas. We have LDAP authentication in place (with NSS as well), though
this does not seem to pull the users to the list - and it makes no sense
as there are hundreds of those. So in Lucid people clicked "Other",
logged in and next time they would see their user on the logon screen
and the "Other" user on the bottom.

Although mostly there is just 1 user per machine, sometimes other people
need to be able to login to it as well, I hope you understand that. I
saw your screenshot, this should be ok for us, I guess.

[Bug 949748] [NEW] Evolution does not obey xmodmap changes on external mouse

2012-03-08 Thread Thomas Schiex
Public bug reported:

I report this strange bug as an "evolution" bug, but it may also be in

Hard to guess for me.

I use a laptop with a multitouch trackpad and a bluetooth apple mouse

On evolution, issuing xmodmap command affects the way the trackpad
events are received but does not change the way the bluetooth mouse
events are received.

To make things clearer...

 - if I issue a
 xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3 4 5"
then the wheel events are working as expected with both the trackpad and the
mouse, under all software (including evolution).

 - If I issue a
  xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3 5 4"
then the wheel events are inverted, as expected, with both the trackpad and the
mouse on all software... but not on evolution.

There, the trackpad generated events are inverted as expected but the
mouse generated events are not. The situation is even more puzzling:

In the left (mailboxes) windows and in the upper right (mail header
lines) windows, the trackpad is inverted but not the external mouse.

In the bottom right window (current mail), the trackpad works fine
(inverted) but the mouse wheel generates no true movement: the lines
just go up and down rapidly so the window "shivers" but does not move
overall. It looks like it gets a pair of events, one up and own down at
each event.

To conclude this test, I borrowed a USB mouse and plugged it in. This
generated the following Xorg log:

[Bug 605567] Re: Extremely slow painting of launchpad.net bug details page with nvidia driver

2012-03-08 Thread Ralph Corderoy
David, yes, it is the large sprite image, see bug #744808. But it isn't
illegal to have one so, although Launchpad should change to one that's
more square to work better in more places, Firefox/Nvidia could also
improve for sites that continue to do legal things that work fine on
other set-ups.

[Bug 948291] Re: New 12.04 beta Kernel doesn't support booting from dmraid

2012-03-08 Thread Stefan Bader
Paul, ah ok, so the RAID setup is just a JBOD one (basically glueing
together the individual parts of the SSD). That explains the boot
messages (because the partition table was created over the length of the
RAID). And just a word of warning: at least in my experience grub in the
past had no concept of RAID setups. So it was essential to have at least
/boot on a partition that is accessible natively. In your case this just
might about work since the first partition covers the whole first disk.
But it also continues after and I am not sure that the files in /boot
always will remain in the areas of the first disk. Must admit that grub2
may be more capable than I think. This limitations are from a bit back
in time. But at least being cautious here cannot go wrong. ;)

But for the current problem: the simplest way to gather output in such
cases is by using a usb stick which you can mount in the busybox shell
and then redirect output there.

The rename error is weird. Even more since your later ls shows the node
is correctly named. About the vgchange command. I think that was just an
incorrect assumption from my side. I was just assuming you would be
using lvm volumes on top of the RAID (which I was guessing to be in some
other mode like striping, mirror or raid5). But it looks like Volume0p1
could just be your / and Volume0p5 be your swap partition (note "dmsetup
ls" is another nice way to list currently available device mapper
volumes). So maybe you were just about there and exit would have
completed the boot.

If that works the next step would be to have --debug on the grub command
line which enables debugging output of the upstart system. That should
show up in /var/log/boot.log and/or /var/log/syslog. Maybe that will
show what is going wrong. Oh, in the busybox, maybe have a look at
scripts/init-premount, there should be a dmraid file.

Re: [Bug 942104] Re: the indicator stopped turning red on restart required

2012-03-08 Thread Sebastian Heinlein
There is a miunderstanding of the packagekit api. You need to watch the
restartrequired signal on the transaction interface instead. The currently used
restartschedule signal is used to indicate the client that a later version of
the daemon has been installed as the currently running one.
In packagekit upstream the signal is only emitted during an upgrade transaction
(e.g. in the yum backend code).
But aptdaemon will also emit the signal during a get updates call. Hopefully
the code on the aptdaemon side will land today or tomorrow.
The packagekit api allows to send different types: application, session and
system. At the moment only system restart will be supported.

[Bug 874468] Re: deleted e-mail messages return upon arrival of new mail

2012-03-08 Thread Tom
Its extremly annoying. I am using Kubuntu and I have the latest version
4.8.1 of KDE and 4.8.0 of Kontact. No changes since the official
introduction of Kontact2 in Kubuntu.

Has anyone found out a solution on that in the meantime? I recieve this message
more than 1000 times a day.
"Select failed, server replied: A003075 NO Mailbox does not exist, or must be
subscribed to."
