[Bug 892958] Re: Ubuntu 11.10 Unity 2D glitches and sometimes freezes when using work space switcher
Thanks for your bug report. I'll package this against metacity so we can get an apport hook, but I'm not exactly sure what handles work space switching in a 2d session. So we can get some detailed system information attached to this report, though, could you please run the following command in a terminal from your unity-2d session: apport-collect 892958 Also, could you describe the freeze that you sometimes experience? Is it a hard freeze? Will the system respond to keyboard input (ctrl+alt+delete, etc)? ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Incomplete ** Tags added: oneiric ** Package changed: ubuntu => metacity (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/892958 Title: Ubuntu 11.10 Unity 2D glitches and sometimes freezes when using work space switcher To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/metacity/+bug/892958/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 892988] [NEW] Translations do not match the released tarball translations
Public bug reported: Ubuntu claims to be shipping rekonq 0.8.0: $ dpkg -l | grep rekonq ii rekonq0.8.0-0ubuntu0.1 KDE web browser based on Webkit But the translations shipped do not match the real stuff inside the rekonq 0.8.0 tarball. Example: $ wget http://sourceforge.net/projects/rekonq/files/0.8.0/0.8.0/rekonq-0.8.0.tar.bz2/download -O rekonq-0.8.0.tar.bz2 $ tar xfh rekonq-0.8.0.tar.bz2 $ grep "Custom" -B 1 -A 1 rekonq-0.8.0/i18n/rekonq_ca.po #: rc.cpp:195 msgid "Custom Style Sheet" msgstr "Full d'estil personalitzat" You can see the catalan translation has correctly translated "Custom Style Sheet" But then if you do $ msgunfmt /usr/share/locale-langpack/ca/LC_MESSAGES/rekonq.mo | grep "Custom" There is no output, meaning that somehow the translation for that text did not end up in the rekonq.mo that Ubuntu ships. Information from OEM engineers Although we may be seeing this during S3 testing, it may be coincidental that this message is showing up during S3 testing. [Bug 892997] [NEW] Shell search shows deleted files, duplicates for moved documents
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 11.10, gnome-shell 3.2.1-0ubuntu1. Gnome Shell's search, unlike other desktop searches, retains moved and deleted items, leading to confusion. Steps to replicate: Create a text file with a unique name from gedit. Search for it from the Dash, and it appears as expected. Delete the file, and restart the Shell, then search again. The file still appears, but of course can't be loaded. Moving a file, likewise, creates two separate entries, only one of which uses the correct, current path to the file. I understand that the list of items itself comes from ~/.local/share /recently-used.xbel. Deleting this file and restarting the Shell will, of course, clear the search index (but this is obviously not a useful workaround.) It may be useful on occasion to retain paths to deleted files, but the Shell doesn't provide any information about the path, so there's no clear benefit to this behavior; more importantly, deleted items are not distinguished from existing ones (such as by a badge of some sort.) These superfluous, non-functional entries cluttering the search can easily lead to confusion. Other, Zeitgeist-based searches (like Unity's, Synapse, etc.) don't seem to create this problem. ** Affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/892997 Title: Shell search shows deleted files, duplicates for moved documents To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/892997/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

However, there is still a problem with the interaction between the kernel and network manager. 1.) When turning off soft key and then turning soft key back on again, the wireless doesn't enable automatically and the wireless connections in network manager disappear so I cannot click on a wireless connection to establish the network. Turning off soft key and turning on soft key 2 or 3 times in a row enables the wireless connections in network manager and network is again established. 2.) When turning off hard switch and then turning hard switch back on again, wireless doesn't enable automatically. [Bug 893007] [NEW] geogebra depends on icedtea-plugin in Oneiric
Public bug reported: In the geogebra packages included in Natty and older versions of Ubuntu, icedtea-plugin is listed as a recommended package (see http://packages.ubuntu.com/natty/geogebra ). In Oneiric, it is now a dependency (see http://packages.ubuntu.com/oneiric/geogebra ). This is a problem as the icedtea-plugin is known to be unable to run many applets created with GeoGebra, for example all those on this page: http://dmentrard.free.fr/GEOGEBRA/Sciences/accueilscie.htm (click for example on the first one called "Ondes sismiques"). For this reason, it was a common practice to replace the icedtea-plugin by Sun Java. Now this is no more possible, as uninstalling icedtea-plugin also uninstalls geogebra itself! I got the same problem here, so by now, I am using the firefox nightly build which behaves much better, but isn't as responsive as firefox 7 on natty in comparison. Public bug reported: The resource agent /usr/lib/ocf/resource.d/heartbeat/apache does not create the directory /var/run/apache2 at startup and so apache refuses to start. I inserted the line: mkdir $HA_VARRUNDIR/apache2 before starting the apache daemon which resolved the problem but i am not sure if this is the correct way. [Bug 834592] Re: System hangs during boot with "Checking battery state" on screen
Same issue for me after fresh install of 11.10 64bit. I only have this issue on an Asrock H61M/U3S3 Motherboard with onboard Intel graphics (if this matters), other desktops/laptops with nvidia or ati seem to work fine. The strange thing is that it sometimes does work correctly, I'd say 3/4 times it fails to show the login screen. It stops at "Checking battery state" CTRL-ALT-F1, logging in and running "sudo /etc/init.d/lightdm restart" works every time, but is very annoying to say the least. What I have tried so far: - install lightdm-gtk-greeter (was not installed) - install unity-greeter (was already installed) - sudo dpkg-reconfigure lightdm (same errors as in comment 6) - sudo rm -r /var/run/dbus; dbus-daemon --system - removing the ~/.Xauthority file - reinstalling/replacing nvidia drivers is no option since this is intel, but it is suggested many times I did check some logs, but am not sure where to look and if this is related: - /var/log/lightdm/lightdm.log - Stopping X local seat, failed to start a display - /var/log/lightdm/x-0-greeter.log - WARNING: unity-greeter: Fatal IO error 11 on X server :0. - /var/log/Xorg.0.log - No screens found Looked up the intel graphics specs: lspci | grep VGA 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09) I would like to see this solved, so if anyone needs more information, just let me know and I will do my best to gather it for you. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/834592 Title: System hangs during boot with "Checking battery state" on screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/834592/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 893024] [NEW] NetworkManager asks for 802.1x user name and password when there is no 802.1x support on switch port
Public bug reported: NetworkManager asks for 802.1x user name and password when there is no 802.1x support on switch port. We use 802.1x wired authentication on our campus network. Network- manager does not fall-back nicely when connecting to a non-authenticated switch. What happens: Network manager asks for user name and password when 802.1x settings are present on network settings and computer is connected to an unauthenticated port. What should happen: Network manager should notice that the port is not access-controlled and do one of the following: ask for connecting unauthenticated or connect unauthenticated without asking. there should be a setting for controlling the behavior when connecting to an unauthenticated port. Now the user is asked about information which has no effect on completing the connection. Ubuntu 10.04 forgets the saved password, but at least 11.10 remembers the old one when presenting the password dialog. ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/893024 Title: NetworkManager asks for 802.1x user name and password when there is no 802.1x support on switch port To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/893024/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 548631] Re: xubuntu keyboard layout switch shortcuts are not remembered
Hello, I am using Xubuntu Oneiric (amd64) = xfce4-xkb-plugin version 0.5.4.1-1. The keyboard change layout option gets forgotten after reboot (at random). I usually use the "Both Shift keys together" key combination. The status of this bug "Fix Released" is inappropriate, since nothing has been fixed so far. Please, reopen this bug. I would also vote for upgrading its priority. It is a simple thing, but VERY annoying.
