"1) It should be possible to remove specific file system icons from the
Launcher by un-checking the “Keep in Launcher” option (or dragging to
the trash)."

What happens if a usb icon is dragged to the trash: it should be un-
pinned or it should be ejected?

[Bug 840140] [NEW] Graphical corruption then black screen using an ATI Radeon 6790 card on boot

2011-09-03 Thread Thomas Howard
Public bug reported:

When I try to boot from the Ubuntu 11.10 Beta instalation CD or try to
boot it once installed, The screen briefly displays pink tinted noise,
then goes to a black screen.

I am using an AMD Radeon 6790 Graphics card and I have had generally
similar problems wjhen using previous versions of Ubuntu or other linux
distributions when attempting to use the open source radeon drivers.

>From reading the Feature Matrix on the Xorg website, it seems there should be
>support with working KMS and 3d acceleration for this graphics card now:
http://xorg.freedesktop.org/wiki/RadeonFeature

I am not sure where to begin trying to get more information to assist
further in debugging this problem, once it gets to the black screen,
there is nothing I can do other than reboot.

[Bug 657022] Re: screen-saver does not lock after movie/music played

2011-09-03 Thread Patrik Nilsson
I think this is a serious security issue. You should know that you can
leave the computer and no one is able to get into your work, once the
time-out of the screensaver is elapsed.

The outline to reproduce this bug is described above and I answer
requests of to assist Ubuntu being better. Does a post of a video dump
of the screen make any difference?

[Bug 840153] [NEW] Menu can't be activated by keyboard

2011-09-03 Thread Smylers
Public bug reported:

The Unity menu bar doesn't work in Chromium using the keyboard.

Holding down Alt makes the Chromium menu entries appear in the menu bar,
as with other apps, but then pressing one of the underlined letters ('F'
for 'File', 'V' for 'View', etc) doesn't do anything.

Nor does pressing F10 activate the menu.

The only way of choosing a menu option involves using the mouse.

[Bug 840157] [NEW] [All Versions]If MeMenu is opened, the special buttons combinations won't work.

2011-09-03 Thread Lilian A. Moraru
Public bug reported:

If you open from the top-right a menu, be it the new MeMenu or what was before
11.10, doesn't matter, it's the same bug for all of them.
For example, you open Connections menu(Network) and leave it open, then try to
press Ctrl + Alt + L or Ctrl + Alt + Delete, any hot key combination while it's
opened, it won't work.
I think that it "hooks" the keys pressed so you can navigate through it but it
doesn't know about the hot-keys...

[Bug 839865] Re: genisoimage : Depends: libbz2 but it is not installable

2011-09-03 Thread Patrik Nilsson
The depends field should be:

Depends: bzip2 (>=1.0), libc6 (>= 2.7), libmagic1, zlib1g (>= 1:1.1.4)

Below is it:
Depends: libbz2, 1.0, libc6 (>= 2.7), libmagic1, zlib1g (>= 1:1.1.4)

/var/lib/dpkg/status:

Package: genisoimage
Status: install ok installed
Priority: optional
Section: otherosfs
Maintainer: Ubuntu Developers
Architecture: i386
Source: cdrkit
Version: 9:1.1.11-1ubuntu2
Replaces: mkisofs
Provides: mkisofs
Depends: libbz2, 1.0, libc6 (>= 2.7), libmagic1, zlib1g (>= 1:1.1.4)
Suggests: wndim, cdrkit-doc
Conflicts: mkhybrid, mkisofs
Description: Creates ISO-9660 CD-ROM filesystem images
 genisoimage is a pre-mastering program for creating ISO-9660 CD-ROM
filesystem images, which can then be written to CD or DVD media using
the wodim program. genisoimage includes support for making bootable
"El Toritn" CDs, as well as CDs with support for the
 Macintosh HFS filesystem.
 .
The package also includes extra tools useful for working with ISO images:
  * mkzftree - create ISO-9660 image with compressed contents
  * dirsplit - easily separate large directory contents into disks of
predefined size
  * geteltorito - extract an El Torito boot image from a CD image
 .
Please install cdrkit-doc if you want most of the documentation and
 README files.

[Bug 840170] [NEW] I've made changes for amavisd-new rules which may be useful for others too

2011-09-03 Thread Günter Dressel
Public bug reported:

Following line is my modified one. Original one is found at line one in
/etc/logcheck/ignore.d.server/amavisd-new.

^\w{3} [ :[:digit:]]{11} [._[:alnum:]-]+ amavis\[[[:digit:]]+\]:
\([-[:digit:]]+\) Passed CLEAN,( \[[.:[:xdigit:]]+\]){0,2} <[^>]*> ->
<[^>]*>(,<[^>]*>)*, Message-ID: <[^>]+>( \((added
by[^)]+|sfid-[_[:xdigit:]]+)\))?,( Resent-Message-ID: <[^>]+>,)?
mail_id: [-+[:alnum:]]+, Hits: ([-.[:digit:]]*)+, size: [[:xdigit:]]+,
queued_as: [[:xdigit:]]+( OK id=[-[:alnum:]]+)?(, dkim_id=[^,]+)?,
[[:digit:]]+ ms$

With this rule I get messages filtered with dkim header signatures - and
also accept messages with positive numbers in "Hits: " part. I made
these changes because they occur very frequently on my mailsystem.

Hope it helps somebody else...

I notice that when I use the latest FGLRX drivers from AMD (8.881), I
have to disable Tear Free Desktop in the AMD Catalyst Control Center and
enable Sync To VBlank at the CompizConfig Settings Manager.

Only then does my desktop run smooth.

Hopefully this is helpful to other people.

[Bug 839546] Re: No sound on computer all of a sudden

2011-09-03 Thread Søren Bredlund Caspersen
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!
