Public bug reported: When I try to boot from the Ubuntu 11.10 Beta instalation CD or try to boot it once installed, The screen briefly displays pink tinted noise, then goes to a black screen.
I am using an AMD Radeon 6790 Graphics card and I have had generally similar problems wjhen using previous versions of Ubuntu or other linux distributions when attempting to use the open source radeon drivers. >From reading the Feature Matrix on the Xorg website, it seems there should be >support with working KMS and 3d acceleration for this graphics card now: http://xorg.freedesktop.org/wiki/RadeonFeature I am not sure where to begin trying to get more information to assist further in debugging this problem, once it gets to the black screen, there is nothing I can do other than reboot. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/840140 Title: Graphical corruption then black screen using an ATI Radeon 6790 card on boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/840140/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
