Public bug reported:

When I try to boot from the Ubuntu 11.10 Beta instalation CD or try to
boot it once installed, The screen briefly displays pink tinted noise,
then goes to a black screen.

I am using an AMD Radeon 6790 Graphics card and I have had generally
similar problems wjhen using previous versions of Ubuntu or other linux
distributions when attempting to use the open source radeon drivers.

>From reading the Feature Matrix on the Xorg website, it seems there should be
>support with working KMS and 3d acceleration for this graphics card now:
http://xorg.freedesktop.org/wiki/RadeonFeature

I am not sure where to begin trying to get more information to assist
further in debugging this problem, once it gets to the black screen,
there is nothing I can do other than reboot.

     Importance: Undecided
