[Bug 780972] Re: desktopcouch-service crashed with Unauthorized in request(): ('unauthorized', 'Authentication required.')

I'm not sure what the Launchpad best practice is in this case, but I
filled a bug for the Erlang issue against CouchDB:

[Bug 836397] Re: libXp.so.6 is missing from ia32-libs package

2011-08-30 Thread Steve Langasek
> libXm.so.4 => not found

This refers to libmotif, which has never been included in ia32-libs
(because the library is in multiverse). How could this program ever
have worked on a 64-bit Ubuntu install before?

I've downloaded the package, and see that the other program, wfica, only
depends on libXaw.so.7. So I can include libxaw7 and libxp6 in the next
upload, but that still leaves libmotif unhandled.

[Bug 837075] Re: Cannot search for some apps in Dash

2011-08-30 Thread David Barth
I tried to reproduce the bug, but can get the matching to work here in
my dash. If nothing matches, or you have problems getting an app to be
seen after an installation, I would look for the processes supposed to
work on your system.

You should see:
- zeitgeist-datahub
- /usr/bin/python /usr/bin/zeitgeist-daemon
- /usr/lib/unity-lens-applications/unity-applications-daemon
among other unity related processes.

You should also make sure to have zeitgeist-extension-fts installed and
up-to-date (0.0.7-0ubuntu2 is the latest version)

[Bug 793592] Re: [Studio Hybrid 140g, Realtek ALC888, Black Digital Out, HDMI] No sound at all

2011-08-30 Thread David Henningsson
@Charles, looking more closely at your hardware, you have an HDMI port
that's integrated on the analog codec as a digital port, which means
it's not using any of the -hdmi modules at all.

Is the following terminal command giving sound on HDMI:

speaker-test -D hdmi:Intel -c 2 -t sine

If it does not, could you try executing this command

alsamixer -D hw:Intel

Use arrow keys to find the "IEC958 Default PCM" control, then press "M"
to mute it. Exit alsamixer with Esc. Then try again:

speaker-test -D hdmi:Intel -c 2 -t sine

[Bug 326000] Re: xmess-x error: compiled byte ordering doesn't match machine byte ordering

2011-08-30 Thread Reuben Thomas
x-mess is still available in natty (but not in oneiric). Also, I can
find no form of mess available in oneiric (in particular, I can find no
/usr/bin/mess in the mame package, or in any other package).

Since as far as I can see mess has not been merged into mame upstream,
this suggests that the mame package does not provide the functionality
of mess.

[Bug 521932] Re: Remove dependencies from TeXLive or offer dummy packages?

2011-08-30 Thread oldmankit
This applies to me too.

I installed lyx successfully with "sudo apt-get install --no-install-
recommends lyx". Great, but it's complaining it can't find document
classes. Latex is working fine on my system.

How do I get lyx to recognise the working latex installation? I've
already done tools->reconfigure.

Yes, this bug is indeed different from bug 834137: looking at the
duplicate bugs, one can see that the "[Invalid UTF-8]" issue is not
there. So it seems that there is an encoding problem in the dash itself.

[Bug 837208] [NEW] System freezes during login after upgrade from Ubuntu 10.10 to 11.04

2011-08-30 Thread lijo
Public bug reported:

I have upgraded my desktop from Ubuntu 10.10 to 11.04(both amd64)
Upgrade was completed successfully. System was rebooted and I got the graphical
login prompt.
Every thing was normal for some time, but while I typed the password system got
frozen.
Mouse pointer got stuck and system stopped responding to mouse and keyboard.
I tried (hard)rebooting multiple times, and each time the behaviour was same.
I had not experienced any such issues with Ubuntu 10.10.

After some search I found nouveau driver could be the suspect.
So I boot up into recovery console, removed "xserver-xorg-video-nouveau"
package and installed the nvidia proprietary driver
"NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-275.21" instead. This solved the problem and the system is
working fine.

System details:
Type: Desktop
Hardware: HP Compaq 8100 Elite Convertible Minitower
CPU: Intel Core i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20GHz (amd64)

[Bug 834251] Re: Annoying screen on laptop dims during inactivity

2011-08-30 Thread Haw Loeung
Paul,

I have had that option disabled for as long as I can remember.

My point being that the option was disabled and it was still dimming the
screen... and only did it on the laptop screen but not on the external
monitor. But I have updated recently and it doesn't seem to do it any
more.

Thanks and keep up the good work :-)

[Bug 837212] [NEW] Black screen after resuming from standby

2011-08-30 Thread relgames
Public bug reported:

Updated from 10.04 to 11.04 couple of weeks ago on my Dell Optiplex
GX620 (graphics ATI Technologies Inc RV380 [Radeon X600 (PCIE)]) with 2
monitors.

I usually put my machine to a standby mode so I can just resume it next
day and continue current task, but after upgrade it resumes to a black
screen. When I press CTRL+ALT+F1 it shows console but just on first
monitor only (normally it shows the same console on both monitors). If I
restart GDM is starts just on first monitor.

[Bug 837213] [NEW] [ Need Packaging ] Please update Gparted to stable 0.9.0-7

2011-08-30 Thread dino99
Public bug reported:

This is GParted live 0.9.0-7.
New in this release:
 * The underlying GNU/Linux operating system is based on the Debian Sid
repository (as of 2011/Jul/28).
 * Bug fixed: Packages ntfs-3g and libntfs3g were downgraded to
2011.1.15AR.4-2. (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=655215).
 * Gdisk was updated to 0.7.2, and compiled without unicode support. Therefore
no more libicu44 is included. This makes the GParted live iso file smaller by
about 6 MB.

I am using sonata everyday and with Ubuntu Unity it was quite paintful

[Bug 837213] Re: [ Need Packaging ] Please update Gparted to stable 0.9.0-7

2011-08-30 Thread dino99
** Description changed:

  This is GParted live 0.9.0-7.
  New in this release:
   * The underlying GNU/Linux operating system is based on the Debian Sid
repository (as of 2011/Jul/28).
   * Bug fixed: Packages ntfs-3g and libntfs3g were downgraded to
2011.1.15AR.4-2. (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=655215).
   * Gdisk was updated to 0.7.2, and compiled without unicode support.
Therefore no more libicu44 is included. This makes the GParted live iso file
smaller by about 6 MB.

  http://free.nchc.org.tw/gparted-live/stable/RELEASE-NOTES-GParted-
  live.txt

This release resolves a problem with resizing NTFS file systems that is
  described in https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=655215 - NTFS
  partition resize fails.
+
+ ntfs-3g from Sid need to be merged to:
+ Source: ntfs-3g

[Bug 641151] Re: multipath flush always returns 1

2011-08-30 Thread James Page
Hi Peter

Thanks very much for documenting the SRU justification and proposing
branches for lucid, natty and maverick.

Unfortunately there is already a SRU in -proposed for multipath-tools
(see bug 789229) so we need to let this complete SRU process to -updates
for these three releases before uploading your proposed branches.

You will need to update each of your proposed branches with the changes
from -updates once accepted and revise the debian/changelog version
numbers as below:

 Natty: 0.4.8-14ubuntu10.3
 Maverick: 0.4.8-14ubuntu4.10.10.4
 Lucid: 0.4.8-14ubuntu4.10.04.4

Please can you also make sure that the branches target -proposed in the
changelog, i.e. natty-proposed, instead of the standard 'natty' release
pocket - this will make sure it gets into the right part of the archive
for SRU verification.

I'm going to mark all three merge proposals as 'Needs Fixing' for the
time being as they all need to be updated.

You can find more detail on the SRU process here -
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#Procedure.

Thanks again

Re: [Bug 834537] Re: "Connection established" after resume is faster than reality?

2011-08-30 Thread Michael Nelson
A little more information (I just experienced this again and this time
left nm to see what would happen). network-manager continues to try
the previous (now unavailable) network until prompting for the
password, rather than switching to the other network (now available
from my phones portable hotspot). I have to manually select the new
network to continue.

[Bug 835699] Re: Unity window switcher takes over key

2011-08-30 Thread Mikkel Kamstrup Erlandsen
I have it 100% reproducible here. Press and hold alone or any key
combination with alt. Add to that that it seems now -F4 will close
*compiz* not the focused app. I guess this is because the switcher
momentarily becomes the "active window" or something because the
keycombo contains the key.

[Bug 740232] Re: Window control buttons in the panel don't respect metacity theme

When it is not then generic buttons will be used. Ambiance buttons
cannot be used as they might not fit in very well with a range of panel
colors. Generic buttons are recognizable on all colours.

[Bug 837223] [NEW] USC ships with three copies of pre-2010 Ubuntu logos

2011-08-30 Thread Paul Sladen
Public bug reported:

Software Centre ships with three out-of-date pre-2010 Ubuntu logos:

  $ dpkg -L software-center | grep png | grep -E '(dummy|ubuntu)'
  /usr/share/software-center/images/dummy-screenshot-ubuntu.png
  /usr/share/software-center/images/dummy-thumbnail-ubuntu.png
  /usr/share/software-center/images/ubuntu-cof.png

[Bug 836755] Re: unity-2d-panel crashed with SIGSEGV

2011-08-30 Thread Erick Brunzell
I got an automated crash report stating the exact title of this bug
report (nothing else), just after booting to the live desktop using the
iso-testing 20110830-i386 Ubuntu image.

However the 2D panel is still present and appears to be functional (I'll
test further and add to this report if that assumption is wrong).

This PC boots to 2D because it has VIA P4M800 graphics, so that's normal
and expected.

[Bug 836755] Re: unity-2d-panel crashed with SIGSEGV

2011-08-30 Thread Erick Brunzell
I was correct about the panel still functioning correctly, the only
noticeable error is that the clock shows [Invalid UTF-8].

Also, in retrospect, I probably should have filed a new bug report so
apport-collect can do it's job. If you desire that I do that it's no
problem, I can simply boot to the live desktop again and see if the
behavior can be reproduced. I'm performing one installation test now and
I have at least two more to complete.
