@Charles, looking more closely at your hardware, you have an HDMI port that's integrated on the analog codec as a digital port, which means it's not using any of the -hdmi modules at all.
Is the following terminal command giving sound on HDMI: speaker-test -D hdmi:Intel -c 2 -t sine If it does not, could you try executing this command alsamixer -D hw:Intel Use arrow keys to find the "IEC958 Default PCM" control, then press "M" to mute it. Exit alsamixer with Esc. Then try again: speaker-test -D hdmi:Intel -c 2 -t sine -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/793592 Title: [Studio Hybrid 140g, Realtek ALC888, Black Digital Out, HDMI] No sound at all To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/793592/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
