[Bug 743323] Re: vlc memory leak
@LocutusOfBorg It's not a simple bug fix to be backported. It is a massive rewrite of the affected plug-in. And then, that new version has its own problem: I perceive a lot of stutter at super-nominal playback speeds. Also sometimes audio and video are not synchronized. So I think it is not ready for releasing; that is why it is only in a development version. [Bug 572869] Re: CUPS is unable to authenticate using kerberos (known bug)

[Bug 740126] Re: Disabling an output can cause vblank events to be missed
** Summary changed: - Something blocks compiz randomly several times per day + Disabling an output can cause vblank events to be missed ** Description changed: + When an output gets disabled - by being switched off by DPMS, unplugged, + etc - it's possible for applications to have pending vblank events + waiting on this output. If this occurs, the application will never + receive the vblank event. This manifests as the app appearing to hang + (in poll() on the X connection, if you attach GDB). + Binary package hint: compiz This seems to happen when I'm not at my laptop (ie, when the screensaver has activated usually). When I return to my laptop, I find it in a state which appears to be completely frozen (ie, nothing gets repainted on the screen). However, I can switch to a console and things appear to be working normally. I can send a SIGKILL to compiz and start another WM, and then everything starts working normally again (although if I restart compiz, it often crashes until I've restarted my laptop). If I attach gdb to the hung compiz, I always see a trace which looks like this: 0x7f53f3dc8e33 in __poll (fds=, nfds=, timeout=) at ../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/poll.c:87 87../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/poll.c: No such file or directory. - in ../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/poll.c + in ../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/poll.c (gdb) bt[K[Kbt full #0 0x7f53f3dc8e33 in __poll (fds=, nfds=, timeout=) at ../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/poll.c:87 - resultvar = 18446744073709551100 - oldtype = 0 - result = + resultvar = 18446744073709551100 + oldtype = 0 + result = #1 0x7f53f738d512 in _xcb_conn_wait (c=0x1b79060, cond=, vector=0x0, count=0x0) at ../../src/xcb_conn.c:313 - ret = - fd = {fd = 3, events = 1, revents = 0} + ret = + fd = {fd = 3, events = 1, revents = 0} #2 0x7f53f738eb3f in xcb_wait_for_reply (c=0x1b79060, request=390272, e=0x7fff56067648) at ../../src/xcb_in.c:378 - cond = {__data = {__lock = 0, __futex = 0, __total_seq = 0, __wakeup_seq = 0, __woken_seq = 0, __mutex = 0x0, __nwaiters = 0, __broadcast_seq = 0}, - __size = '\000' , __align = 0} - reader = {request = 390272, data = 0x7fff560675a0, next = 0x0} - prev_reader = - widened_request = - ret = 0x0 + cond = {__data = {__lock = 0, __futex = 0, __total_seq = 0, __wakeup_seq = 0, __woken_seq = 0, __mutex = 0x0, __nwaiters = 0, __broadcast_seq = 0}, + __size = '\000' , __align = 0} + reader = {request = 390272, data = 0x7fff560675a0, next = 0x0} + prev_reader = + widened_request = + ret = 0x0 #3 0x7f53f75e188d in _XReply (dpy=0x1b77e10, rep=0x7fff560676a0, extra=0, discard=0) at ../../src/xcb_io.c:533 - req = 0x1b74780 - response = - error = 0x0 - c = 0x1b79060 - reply = - current = 0x1b74780 - __PRETTY_FUNCTION__ = "_XReply" + req = 0x1b74780 + response = + error = 0x0 + c = 0x1b79060 + reply = + current = 0x1b74780 + __PRETTY_FUNCTION__ = "_XReply" #4 0x7f53efb6993b in DRI2WaitMSC (dpy=0x1b77e10, drawable=100, target_msc=0, divisor=2, remainder=1, ust=0x7fff56067728, msc=0x7fff56067720, sbc=0x7fff56067718) at dri2.c:616 - info = - req = - rep = {type = 64 '@', pad1 = 119 'w', sequenceNumber = 22022, length = 32767, ust_hi = 1443264328, ust_lo = 32767, msc_hi = 100, msc_lo = 0, sbc_hi = 2137562112, - sbc_lo = 3119085452} - #5 0x7f53efb67df1 in dri2WaitForMSC (pdraw=, target_msc=, divisor=, remainder=, - ust=0x7fff56067778, msc=0x7fff56067770, sbc=0x7fff56067768) at dri2_glx.c:346 - dri2_ust = 29839872 - dri2_msc = 29878048 - dri2_sbc = 139998480560225 - ret = -516 + info = + req = + rep = {type = 64 '@', pad1 = 119 'w', sequenceNumber = 22022, length = 32767, ust_hi = 1443264328, ust_lo = 32767, msc_hi = 100, msc_lo = 0, sbc_hi = 2137562112, + sbc_lo = 3119085452} + #5 0x7f53efb67df1 in dri2WaitForMSC (pdraw=, target_msc=, divisor=, remainder=, + ust=0x7fff56067778, msc=0x7fff56067770, sbc=0x7fff56067768) at dri2_glx.c:346 + dri2_ust = 29839872 + dri2_msc = 29878048 + dri2_sbc = 139998480560225 + ret = -516 #6 0x7f53efb3f81f in __glXWaitVideoSyncSGI (divisor=2, remainder=1, count=0x7fff560677cc) at glxcmds.c:1775 - gc = 0x1c7e720 - psc = 0x1c77560 - pdraw = - ust = 2722 - msc = - sbc = 139998480562447 - ret = + gc = 0x1c7e720 + psc = 0x1c77560 + pdraw = + ust = 2722 + msc = + sbc = 139998480562447 + ret = #7 0x7f53efdb71c4 in PrivateGLScreen::waitForVideoSync() () from /us

[Bug 776936] Re: Running KVM guest causes kernel panic on host
Today I noticed that although I removed the membaloon it didn't stick (possibly due to panic not syncing the file). I removed once again membaloon and started the guest with little bit better results. The system does not freeze immediately, but it leaves a lot of "oopses" in the syslog/dmesg. I am attaching these "oopses". The highlight of the "oopses" is "BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at". I am going to try kvm in NAT mode (btw how do I do that?) and see if this is happening still. ** Attachment added: "messages" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu-kvm/+bug/776936/+attachment/2124149/+files/messages -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/776936 Title: Running KVM guest causes kernel panic on host -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 769092] Re: Atheros AR5001 [168c:001c] Wifi not working after suspend/resume
Interesting that there are two places for unloading modules before suspend: /etc/pm/config.d/ /etc/default/acpi-support Does anyone know which is to be preferred? @Ezra Reeves The out of the box driver for the Ralink 2860 card (rt2800pci) should work, at least if two things are taken care of: 1) there is a bug with pcie_aspm (PCI bus power saving) that is fixed with the kernel now in natty-proposed. This bug breaks the WLAN after a suspend when pcie_aspm is activated (e.g. on battery) 2) with PEAP with TKIP/MSCHAPv2 the module needs to be loaded with "nohwcrypt=1" according to bug 777215. If you find the out of the box module to have another bug it would be helpful if you made a separate bug report about this with ubuntu-bug linux so that it can be investigated and fixed. [Bug 780961] [NEW] Natty Xorg crashes on Thinkpad X201 (i915 driver) during screen updates
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg Ever since upgrading to natty a couple days ago, I've been having problems with Xorg crashing. I got a traceback (already attached, gdmlog1), which suggested something related to pthreads, so I tried disabling hyperthreading and all but one core in BIOS. This reduced the frequency of crashing from about once per 10 minutes to once per 2 days. I don't know if it's specific to the intel driver, or if it is a more general issue. As far as steps for reproducing the issue... I'm not exactly sure. This is a description of a typical session: 1. Log in via gdm. I'm using sawfish, with a custom Xsession. 2. Start a few programs. I thought that "Incomplete" means the report of the issue was incomplete, not that the debdiff is incomplete. [Bug 772951] Re: Super + Numeric shortcuts don't always work
A have the same bug. At startup, i never have the numbers (and shortcuts don't work). I found a way to make these appear : - I launch a terminal - I launch a git pull, a popup appear to unlock my private key - As soon as the popup appear, a corresponding item appear in the dock and the number are present (and the shortcuts works). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/772951 Title: Super + Numeric shortcuts don't always work -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 772923] Re: BCM4312 on HP Mini 2133 freezes with Natty
>So it appears mainline kernels work, Ubuntu kernels don't. but why then does 2.6.39-999-generic from the 2011-04-19-natty not work? One possibility I can think of is that different modules are used. The lspci -k command is useful for determining which module is in use and which ones are available. e.g.: lspci -k | grep Network --after-context 3 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/772923 Title: BCM4312 on HP Mini 2133 freezes with Natty -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 780960] [NEW] Display Activities overlay (launcher with icons on the left and list of recently used files/applications) when user logs in
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-shell Lots of users doesn't know how to start any application in GNOME3, because there are nothing related to "Applications" when GNOME desktop starts. In Ubuntu Unity desktop shell the launcher with icons on the left is shown after user logs in. I think GNOME3 desktop should have similar appearance (like Unity) when started: For most users the best option would be to display Activities (launcher with icons on the left and list of recently used files and applications) when GNOME desktop starts (when user logs in), and then add a visual hint as to how to open Activities again when user does anything that closes the overlay.
