[Bug 385344] Re: Netbooks- Cheese video recording is laggy at higher video resolutions
I am having the same issue, on a 4x AMD Phenom(tm) 9550 (5867MB RAM) desktop with a ATI Radeon HD 4550. I think the issue may have sprung up somewhere between the karmic -> maverick, since I'd recorded some pretty sweet vids back on karmic (sorry, only realized the problem now, when I had some new vids to record). hawthornso23's comment is interesting because I am using a PS3 eye camera, a USB device with an in-built mic, but also have a separate mic that I generally use. However I use ALSA, not Pulse (does bad things to my setup) -- does anyone have any tips on how to disable the PS3 mic? On a separate note, GTK UVC Viewer works great (except weird interface) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/385344 Title: Netbooks- Cheese video recording is laggy at higher video resolutions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 762496] [NEW] atheros wifi cards cause kernel panic when connecting to wpa2 secured wifi networks
Public bug reported: I have discovered a very serious bug with the kernel on ubuntu natty 64bit . upon doing some digging on the upstream irc i was told there was a patch which fixed this issue from upstream. when connecting to wpa networks this issue doesnt arise its only specific to wpa2. [Bug 762501] [NEW] Latest updates broke WLAN connectivity
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: wpasupplicant Latest updates to network-manager made the network-manager applet show up again in notification area, but broke WLAN connectivity. Error for all networks working before: "wrong password". I am not sure this is network manager related or some WLAN parts related, but I see it with wicd, ifup (aka /etc/network/interfaces defined networks). Maybe something changed in wpa-supplicant breaking things for all network-management tools. PS: searching for "wpa" gives back "wpa-supplicant" for package name. Selecting this leads to error "wpa-supplicant does not exist in Ubuntu." --- a package "wpasupplicant" exists. [Bug 759644] Re: I cannot see the desktop when I press Super+D
It seems that you're not pressing the keys in the right way. The way you are doing it, shows the desktop but in the mean time opens the Dash as well, which requires Escape Key to close. Hold the Super-key and then while holding it press D. It works fine this way. ** Description changed: Binary package hint: unity When I press Super+D, all the windows get minimized, but at the same - time, the Unity launcher comes up. [Bug 762512] [NEW] getaddrinfo() should disregard link-local IPv6 addresses for AI_ADDRCONFIG purposes
Public bug reported: If the system is configured with link-local (and loopback) IPv6 addresses only, getaddrinfo() will look up records in DNS and return any results to the caller, even if the caller is specififying the AI_ADDRCONFIG hint. This defeats the purpose of AI_ADDRCONFIG, as an IPv6-capable operating system (including Ubuntu) will automatically configure link-local IPv6 addresses on every interface. RFC 2553 says the following about AI_ADDRCONFIG: - The AI_ADDRCONFIG flag specifies that a query for records should occur only if the node has at least one IPv6 source address configured and a query for A records should occur only if the node has at least one IPv4 source address configured. While it does not mention link-local (or loopback) addresses specifically, it is obvious that its intended use is to allow an application to avoid getting addresses returned that cannot be used for communication. In that regard link-local addresses are very similar to loopback addresses, in the sense that they're automatically configured on all hosts regardless of any external connectivity, and can not be used when communicating with the outside world. And, as it happens, loopback addresses are already disregarded by getaddrinfo() for AI_ADDRCONFIG (even for IPv4 loopback addresses). This is done in in sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/check_pf.cl line 179, in make_request(). The current behaviour is causing problems for end users who happen to be in IPv4-only networks and are using DNS resolvers that do not correctly handle lookups (cf. bug #417757 - 317 comments so far). If getaddrinfo() had not considered the always-present link-local addresses as an indicator of connectivity to the IPv6 internet, the problematic lookups would have been suppressed and the users would not have experienced any problems. The one-line patch is trivial. Please apply. For what it's worth, both Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X appear to disregard link-local IPv6 addresses for AI_ADDRCONFIG purposes, with no apparent ill effects. [Bug 275451] Re: nfs mounts specified in fstab is not mounted on boot.
Thanks MxxCon - your suggestion would have been much simpler. Unfortunately it did not work for us. We are not experiencing this problem so often on servers, only on clients (about 9 out of 12 client boxes). On servers we use static IP:s on clients we use DHCP. Changing a client to a static IP did fix the NFS upstart problem!!! When we investigated that clue we turned a lot of stones (even replacing our managed switches with dumb once) but we could not find a problem related to DHCP in our setup. Most of our clients are clones - therefore it is amazing that the problem is consistent on one box and not on another. If it is a timing problem related to how fast the hardware is it might make sense though. (We have tried with flushing all DHCP leases records in order to rule out "unlucky" NIC) On a private (MPD) server I have also had this problem, In such cases, when there are services depending on NFS shares being mounted the upstart script emits the event 'nfsshares-mounted', This saves the day - allowing me to wait with starting these depending services. [Bug 754553] Re: Evolution re-send old mails sometimes when sending new mails.
I'm not sure I'm experiencing the exact same issue but it seems similar. I also have not found a way to reproduce this and it only happens once or twice a week of daily usage. I send mail. Sometimes Evolution asks me to restore the an old mail as if it had been closed or it crashed while composing a mail. Yet I had not neither closed evolution nor did I notice some crash. I can restore the mail, yet I find it in my "sent" folder also. Of course now I'm unsure whether it was successfully sent, but most of the times I asked it was indeed sent the first time. I'm not marking this bug as confirmed though, as the symptoms seem a bit different so this may be a different bug. I'd be glad to open a new report if the fix to this report does not fix my issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/754553 Title: Evolution re-send old mails sometimes when sending new mails. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 761697] Re: exactly as stated below, but when I add the option it doesn't work for me.
I really do appreciate any help you can give me. After years of using a closed source system, I am very excited about learning how an operating system actually works. I especially like it when no billionaire is making more money from me. Thank you all very much.
