I cannot replicate the bug. It's probably fixed with the recent changes. [Bug 719185] [NEW] [Lucid, Maverick and Natty] unable to add MSN contacts with Pidgin, e-mails addresses is not walid the presenting notification
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pidgin Dear Developers, Some weeks (I think since two weeks) impossible to add MSN contacts with pidgin. When I add new MSN partner e-mail address, presented the confirm request message and I clicking OK button, Pidgin says following message: the e-mail adresses must a valid e-mail address. Of course, the e-mail address is right. I testing purpose created an another MSN account, and logged in. After this I tryed adding the new created account my existing already used MSN account e-mail address. I attached next comment the debug log, a short part with this log file: "(08:32:05) msn: 409600204800 (08:32:09) util: Writing file accounts.xml to directory /home/hammera/.purple (08:32:09) util: Writing file /home/hammera/.purple/accounts.xml (08:32:23) util: Writing file blist.xml to directory /home/hammera/.purple (08:32:23) util: Writing file /home/hammera/.purple/blist.xml (08:32:26) msn: S: NS 000: NOT 599 (08:32:30) msn: Add user:hamm...@pickup.hu to group:Partnerek (08:32:30) msn: C: NS 000: FQY 15 46 (08:32:30) msn: S: NS 000: FQY 15 53 (08:32:30) msn: Process FQY (08:32:30) msn: FQY response says hamm...@pickup.hu is from network 0 (08:32:32) msn: S: NS 000: CHL 0 20641003143018424171313742054 (08:32:32) msn: C: NS 000: QRY 16 PROD0119GSJUC$18 32 (08:32:32) msn: S: NS 000: QRY 16 (08:32:36) util: Writing file blist.xml to directory /home/hammera/.purple (08:32:36) util: Writing file /home/hammera/.purple/blist.xml (08:32:43) account: Disconnecting account haokt...@freemail.hu (0x86ed850) (08:32:43) connection: Disconnecting connection 0x89730e0 (08:32:43) connection: Deactivating keepalive. I found following issue with Pidgin bug tracker: http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/13298 Lot of people see this issue with various Pidgin versions. Reproducation steps: 1. If already have an MSN account, create an another account and login with new account. 2. Simple try adding your existing already used MSN account username with buddy list. [Bug 715510] Re: Some print jobs fault the copier with 116-357 on Lucid
The fix is most likely in the libraries, but you do not see it if you simply install the new libraries, as the old evince will still use the old libraries (which do not get uninstalled by installing the new ones). By installing the new evince (Maverick and newer) you make the new libraries actually being used.So the fix can be somewhere in libpoppler or libcairo, according to my feelings rather in libcairo. To test this you would need to rebuild source packages, so that you can test the evince of Lucid with only one of the two libraries replaced. To test the new libcairo for example you need to install the -dev package of the old libpoppler, rebuild the package of the new libcairo, install its -dev p[ackage and then rebuild evince. After having found out which library brings the fix, one would need to find out which change in it performs the fix to finally create a patch for an SRU (stable release update) for Lucid. I am marking this bug as fixed as it is working in Natty (and in Maverick, too). If you (or someone else) have found out more on what the actual fix is, a Lucid task for an SRU should get added. ** Changed in: cups (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Fix Released ** Package changed: cups (Ubuntu) => cairo (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/715510 Title: Some print jobs fault the copier with 116-357 on Lucid -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Right - so fixing the bug that things didn't properly wait for portmap at boot before exposed a new bug, that portmap isn't starting correctly in your environment. > I can reproduce this problem on a VirtualBox host, so it isn't hard for > me to experiment with different portmap changes if you can give me some > leads. Could you try an /etc/init/portmap.conf with the following changes? - add 'console output' - comment out 'expect fork' - change the portmap exec line to read 'exec portmap -d $OPTIONS' This should give debugging output from the portmap command on the console, so turning off plymouth should let us get some idea of why this isn't starting up right. -- Steve Langasek Give me a lever long enough and a Free OS Debian Developer to set it on, and I can move the world.
