Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cairo-dock-plug-ins

Hi,

After syncing cairo-dock-plugin package from debian, we now have two
time the same source in the archive. Please work with Debian to be able
to merge the 2 packages, and have it only once.

Thanks,
Fabrice

Oh, thats interesting. Maybe it has something to do with the upgrade
process (e.g. old xorg.conf, upstart or something). Would you mind
testing a fresh install with Lucid (in case you did a fresh install of
Puppy Linux)?

[Bug 657560] Re: Custom Framerate support

2010-10-10 Thread Vish
Not a cheese bug. Cheese is just a recording program, it displays the
video output from the webcam. and it can only make software changes.

The webcam settings [FPS, etc..] are controlled by the drivers and how
far the webcam driver support has been done for the particular webcam
model.

To test, Install package : v4l2ucp
Depending on the level of webcam support , Once installed you will have the
options in :
System > Preferences > Video4Linux Control Panel

If you dont have the options the drivers are not yet completed for your webcam.
[this bug report has no information about the webcam model or kernel version,
but this just seems like a forum question than a bug report. In future kindly
file bugs using $ ubuntu-bug PACKAGENAME]

[Bug 503443] Re: console showing old content after folder renamed in other console

2010-10-10 Thread Will
Even more confusing is that if you then create a file in in terminal 1
while still apparently working in the old non-existent dir, it then
appears in terminal 2 in the newly re-located dir, So bash clearly knows
where we really are it's just not updating the prompt. This also happens
in VTs so I'm guessing it's a bash issue rather than one with gnome-
terminal.

[Bug 657576] [NEW] maverick / radeon: repeated errors during boot

2010-10-10 Thread Kimiko Koopman
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

As you can see in the attached dmesg log, an error message from radeon /
ttm is repeated many many times during boot (i.e. before the login
screen appears). These errors flash by too fast to read them, so it
looks as if the display is broken or something.

I also see some suspicious messages about remounts and some IRQ that I
didn't get before Maverick, but they're probably not related directly to
this radeon thing.

FWIW, I'm using the X default (i.e. no xorg.conf present) of radeon only
because the new fglrx driver didn't work at all (black screen, computer
hangs) any more. It was fine back in Lucid (3D acceleration and all).

[Bug 655111] Re: BCM4312 not supported by "Additional drivers". B43 is proposed, fails w/o useful message, "Not supported low-power chip"

2010-10-10 Thread Martin Pitt
Michael,

I just thought about this again, and while disabling the b43 driver
would have made sense in maverick, doing so in an SRU isn't really the
best thing IMHO. People will see this right after installation (where
updates aren't installed yet?) or even on the live CD. Also, when
installing with network, ubiquity can now install the wl driver
automatically, without confusion.

So for an SRU it might be better to just filter out the broken product
IDs from b43 instead?

[Bug 657560] Re: Custom Framerate support

2010-10-10 Thread Abdusamed Ahmed
First I did try the forum but soon realize it would be great feature for
Cheese dev to implement in the program. I did install v4l2ucp and
doesn't seem to effect anything even with the 'backlight compensation'
on and updated.

What I'm asking is there some config file I could edit and just set the
frame rate 10FPS manually?

[Bug 657371] Re: Ubuntu Netbook Edition maverick doesn't have a guest session

2010-10-10 Thread Martin Pitt
Accepted gdm-guest-session into maverick-proposed, the package will
build now and be available in a few hours. Please test and give feedback
here. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for
documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you in advance!

** Description changed:

- gdm-guest-session (0.17) maverick-proposed; urgency=low
- .
-* Makefile:
- - symlink the restricted session env variable to une one to workaround
-gconfd in maverick, seeing GDMSESSION=une-guest-restricted instead of
-"une", like other any other process in the guest session (LP: #657371)
+  gdm-guest-session (0.17) maverick-proposed; urgency=low
+  .
+    * Makefile:
+  - symlink the restricted session env variable to une one to workaround
+    gconfd in maverick, seeing GDMSESSION=une-guest-restricted instead of
+    "une", like other any other process in the guest session (LP: #657371)

  test case:
  1. Install this version
  2. start ubuntu netbook edition session in gdm (you should have unity
appearing)
  3. under the session indicator menu, choose "guest session"
  4. check that you are indeed logged in a guest ubuntu netbook session
-
+ 5. check that you cannot access anything in /home/

  debdiff attached
  -

- netbook-meta (2.035) maverick-proposed; urgency=low
- .
-* Refreshed dependencies
-* Added gdm-guest-session to netbook-recommends (LP: #657371)
-
+  netbook-meta (2.035) maverick-proposed; urgency=low
+  .
+    * Refreshed dependencies
+    * Added gdm-guest-session to netbook-recommends (LP: #657371)

  test case:
if you don't have gdm-guest-session, on upgrade, you should get it. Check
after upgrading to that version that you get a "guest session" entry in the
session indicator after a session restart.

  -

It's simply not seeded in the netbook metapackage for final.

In addition, there is something wrong for launching it (I fixed that in lucid
a while ago):
The env variable aren't set correctly, and so unity doesn't start in this
guest session. Investigation for a fix in a SRU.

[Bug 654236] Re: SRU : Please release choqok 0.9.85 for lucid

2010-10-10 Thread Martin Pitt
This has tons of unrelated changes, including UI changes, new features,
new backends, new modules, etc. Thus this has a lot of regression
potential. Is it possible in any way to just backport the move to oauth?
We'd still need a backport of qoauth of course (bug 654241), but since
that's a new package the regression potential is low.

If backporting doesn't work, then from my perspective we can also do the
full jump, but in that case I'd like to get a second ack from another
SRU team member.

In any case, please upload the two packages, so that they are ready for
review. Thanks!

[Bug 482419] Re: 802.3ad interface bonding fails if started too early

2010-10-10 Thread Martin Pitt
Bhavani,

this patch looks a bit weird. It not just changes the order of the
function calls, it also introduces a new function call "setup_slaves",
without any further changes. However, in the original Debian patch
(still visible at
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/49642996/ifenslave-2.6_1.1.0-14ubuntu2_1.1.0-15ubuntu1.diff.gz)
that new function is introduced (by splitting the original one). So can
you please confirm that our version already has the new function, but
not the call to it?

[Bug 657585] [NEW] Shutter don't preserve screenshot saving directory

2010-10-10 Thread Vladimir Rutsky
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: shutter

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create directory for screenshots:
 $ mkdir -p /tmp/shutter/screenshots/dir
2. Start shutter with clean configuration:
 $ cd
 $ mv .shutter .shutter_
 $ shutter
3. Open Edit -> Preferences. Main tab. By default "Directory" is home directory.
4. Click on directory value---list of common directories will be poped down,
select "Other..."---directory selection menu will apper.
5. Enter in Location "/tmp/shutter/screenshots/dir/" and press Enter. Shutter
will show, that Directory for saving screenshots is "dir".
5. Close Shutter Preferences with "Close" button. Close Shutter: File -> Quit
6. Check which directory is saved in cofiguration:
 $ grep -o -e 'folder="[^"]*"' .shutter/settings.xml

Observed behavior---selected directory "/tmp/shutter/screenshots/dir/" not
saved in configuration:
 $ grep -o -e 'folder="[^"]*"' .shutter/settings.xml
folder="/home/bob"

Expected behavior---folder should be set to "/tmp/shutter/screenshots/dir/":
 $ grep -o -e 'folder="[^"]*"' .shutter/settings.xml
folder="/tmp/shutter/screenshots/dir"

[Bug 656520] Re: minimize does not make any sense and should be removed

2010-10-10 Thread Olivier R-D
Are you really sending it to the launcher ? Since the launcher does
other things than minimize/restore then you could as well call "
minimize" for "hide", it might be a more explicit solution.

And since you do not use the desktop you could even consider the windows
to be on a stack. And call "minimize" for "push back".

[Bug 657586] [NEW] Flash videos play very fast and with no sound

2010-10-10 Thread James Clemence
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: flashplugin-nonfree

When using flash on Chromium or Firefox in Ubuntu Maverick, the videos
play at around four times their usual speed or more, and with no sound.
npviewer.bin and pulseaudio run up to around ~200% CPU usage, which is
much higher than usual. Videos are totally unwatchable. Until yesterday
or the day before when some updates were applied videos played at their
normal speed, and there was no such spike in CPU usage.

For examples, see:
