[Bug 473139] Re: gnome-keyring demands unspecified password, breaking svn commits

same problem here with my Kubuntu lucid.
I haven't the .gnome2/keyrings/* and adding the [auth]\npassword-stores = \n

It's strange, it works well on my old computer (which has an upgrade to lucid)
but with my fresh new install of lucid on my laptop, I have this bug from the
begining and I can't commit my googlecode, please do something!

[Bug 575410] Re: clock-applet freezes when clicking on time

2010-07-13 Thread Cesare Mastroianni

Today the clock applet works normally. No need to kill and restart it. I have
no new package installed (no upgrade was made since 2 days). Therefore it seems
that today the bug is not here for some "local" reason. However, this is the
first time the clock applet works normally since May 11th (2 months!!!).

I browsed the menu "preferences" menu entry (right-click), and normal
left-click popup. Everything is ok: no crash, no bug here today.

Ciao
CM

[Bug 604693] Re: Partner repository now appears twice in navigation pane

I thought the whole point of fixing bug 552560 was so that Software

versus software that came from the main archive.

I am happy to talk about changing the Origin/Label for partner to suit
software-center better.

Dave, thanks for your reply.

You are right: to change the properties to just one object, right click on it
and chose Line, Area, Text, Position & Size.
So it could convenient to rename the "Edit style" in "Edit default style".

Where should I propose this change?

[Bug 604904] [NEW] Passphrase dialog at boot for LUKS-encrypted root volume disappears after first character entered

2010-07-13 Thread Oliver Hookins
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: initramfs-tools

Background:
1. I'm not positive if initramfs-tools is the correct package for this bug, but
it's my best guess.
2. I have a Lenovo x301 with the DisplayPort connected to an external monitor.
I do not use the built-in LCD at all.
3. Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

Steps to reproduce:
1. Connect DisplayPort to an external monitor and close notebook lid
immediately after power on.
2. All boot messages are displayed on external monitor up until and including
the LUKS graphical dialog prompting for the root-volume's passphrase.
3. Start to enter the passphrase
4. Screen completely blanks after the first character is entered, which
prevents any further indication of characters entered.

Expected results:
1. Screen does not blank during the typing of the passphrase.

When using the built-in LCD, this problem does not occur so I assume it
is some kind of problem with the interaction with the external display
port and how the typing progress is drawn onto the screen.

** Affects: initramfs-tools (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 604902] [NEW] Fullscreen control hide kills mplayer and video

2010-07-13 Thread Taylor "Ripps" L-Wren
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-mplayer

I've been trying to debug this one for a while. In Maverick, I am unable to
play a video fullscreen, because the after going fullscreen for a few seconds,
the mplayer and the video completely crash, and I get this output in the
terminal:
gnome-mplayer:8666): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_set_size_request: assertion
`GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed

(gnome-mplayer:8666): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_hide: assertion

`GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed

(gnome-mplayer:8666): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_set_size_request:
assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed

I've also attempted capturing backtraces using gdb with both gnome-
mplayer and mplayer, but I haven't been able to get any meaningful
results from this.

I think it's being triggered by the controls hiding. It doesn't matter if
control animation is enabled or not, I get this and the video crash regardless.
Also, after the crash, gnome-mplayer is running, only the video is killed, but
If I attempt to watch any videos again, I can here the movie audio, but the
video will be completely black. At this state, I can also fullscreen, and the
controls will autohide, but the video will remain black.

I've attempted debugging this in the most recent svn version as well,
but I get the same errors and problems.

[Bug 306007] Re: "Syntax error" in default bindresvport.blacklist

2010-07-13 Thread Jared Showalter
AlainKnaff's comment #3 is entirely correct. This bug is also easy to
reproduce, as described in the initial comment, although as noted in
comment #3, it is not tabs per se that are the problem: anything other
than '#' or end-of-line is a problem.

I encountered this with ypbind taking the port 631 of cups, causing
printing in GNOME to be disabled.

Most casual users will not report this bug because it will "go away on
its own" if they reboot or something--but that is not the attitude to
encourage.

Just to be completely specific about how to reproduce this (this was
with 8.04, but I don't have any reason to believe it's been fixed):

0. Backup the file:
$ sudo mv /etc/bindresvport.blacklist /etc/bindresvport.blacklist.bak

1. Reserve all ports 600-999, with the format used for shipped
bindresvport.blacklist (e.g., "631\t# cups")
$ perl -e 'for ($i=600; $i<1000; $i++) {print "$i\t# foo\n";}'  | sudo dd
of=/etc/bindresvport.blacklist
7+1 records in
7+1 records out
4011 bytes (4.0 kB) copied, 6.5962e-05 s, 60.8 MB/s

2. Restart nis (or a different service as available).
$ sudo /etc/init.d/nis restart
 * Starting NIS service

3. Check what port it got:
$ sudo netstat --inet -nap | grep ypbind
tcp0  0 0.0.0.0:724 0.0.0.0:*   LISTEN
29803/ypbind
udp0  0 0.0.0.0:723 0.0.0.0:*
29803/ypbind
udp0  0 0.0.0.0:724 0.0.0.0:*
29803/ypbind

4. Note that it falls in the range 600-999 (there is a small 24 out of
424 chance it will not -- try again).

This also fails with spaces, substituting the perl command in step 1:
$ perl -e 'for ($i=600; $i<1000; $i++) {print "$i # foo\n";}'  | sudo dd
of=/etc/bindresvport.blacklist

It works with the '#' character directly following the port number:
$ perl -e 'for ($i=600; $i<1000; $i++) {print "$i# foo\n";}'  | sudo dd
of=/etc/bindresvport.blacklist
or with the port number on the line by itself:
$ perl -e 'for ($i=600; $i<1000; $i++) {print "$i\n";}'  | sudo dd
of=/etc/bindresvport.blacklist

In the last two cases I get:
tcp0  0 0.0.0.0:10010.0.0.0:*   LISTEN
29923/ypbind
udp0  0 0.0.0.0:10000.0.0.0:*
29923/ypbind
udp0  0 0.0.0.0:10010.0.0.0:*
29923/ypbind

The comment #3 also describes the fix.

[Bug 532659] Re: new theme not applied

2010-07-13 Thread k3nt-1
Hello,

Indeed, the advice of Claudio did work for me too:
sudo rm -rf /var/lib/gdm && sudo aptitude reinstall gdm

Just reinstalling (without suppression of /var/lib/gdm) did not work.
/var/lib/gdm was empty on my computer before I deleted it and it still empty
after reinstallation.

I did not change the default gdm config in Karmic and this did not prevented me
from getting this bug.
I run on AMD 64 bits and did not get this problem on my other laptop (intel 32
bits).

If more info is required, just let me know.

[Bug 604909] [NEW] cryptsetup luksClose cannot close the device despite not being in use

2010-07-13 Thread Oliver Hookins
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cryptsetup

I have a simple LUKS-encrypted volume, used for taking backups with a
simple script:

+ cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/disk/by-id/usb-ST925031_5AS_5C75-0:0
iomegacrypt -d /root/keyfile
Key slot 1 unlocked.
+ mount -t ext4 /dev/mapper/iomegacrypt /media/crypt
+ /usr/local/sbin/runbackup
+ umount /media/crypt
+ cryptsetup luksClose iomegacrypt
Device iomegacrypt is busy.

Nothing else uses the device apart from this backup script which is
automated and happens shortly after I login. Prior to upgrading to Lucid
there was no problem. The output of `lsof` does not show anything using
the device.

[Bug 604908] [NEW] Client persistently wants to halt if SHUTDOWN_TIME is set and the current time is between SHTUDOWN_TIME and midnight

2010-07-13 Thread BlackJudas
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ldm

Based on the documentation I've looked at, I understood that
SHUTDOWN_TIME was a simple daily trigger. After setting the
SHUTDOWN_TIME value, the system kept popping up the shudown dialog (10s
to shutdown) every time ldm started.

After looking in /usr/share/ldm/rc.d/I01-halt-check I noticed two
issues. At first, the script does not check if the $SHUTDOWN_TIME
variable is actually defined (has a value) and that the date checks tell
the system to always shutdown between the shutdown time specified and
midnight.

I propose that the documentation for LTSP contain a snippet of this
behaviour if this is fully intended, or otherwise change the test to be
optional, as it's not required unless this behaviour was intended :).

Thanks

[Bug 604917] [NEW] [lucid] cannot access camera storage when ipod touch is attached

2010-07-13 Thread brotherquintus
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gphoto2

Hi all,

I am not at all sure if this bug is in gphoto2... could be anything :S

I connected an iPod touch via usb and was transferring Music using
Rhythmbox, then I connected a Canon PowerShot A590 via usb and wanted to
import the photos.

The camera had usb:002,003 and the ipod usb:001,002

I was expecting the path gphoto2://[usb:002,003]/DCIM/ to point to the
camera's storage, but instead it pointed to the ipod's storage at
afc://21d8d0a2bc93aa1376f9688f10da8bbb43d0bac0/DCIM/

This happens only when I connect the two devices in the order ipod, then
camera and makes it impossible to access the camera's storage.

Just disconnecting the ipod doesn't help, I need to unmount/mount the
camera to get access to the camera's storage.

  After choosing "Unmount" in the Gnome context menu, a volume with a file open
will report that it is safe to remove and also that it is busy and can't be
unmounted. Choosing "unmount anyway" does nothing.

[Bug 493450] Re: Firefox slow - Opera fast - when several tabs open in Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala 64-bit

2010-07-13 Thread Craig100
This happens on Ubuntu 10.4x64 and Firefox 3.6.6. The only way to
recover proper responsiveness is to disable Xmarks. Had it in previous
FF & Ubuntu versions too. Another symptom is that the display of typed
characters pauses for about 6 or 7 seconds while you type, then it
catches up. It's VERY annoying.

Which GPU and DDX are you using? A profile would presumably indicate X

[Bug 316215] Re: rule to enable use of android's adb

2010-07-13 Thread Tero Karvinen
Perla, the problem is probably not in your udev rule. The device should
show in 'lsusb' listing before you create the rule.

I use 'lsusb' to check for vendor ID before creating the rule.

Check that you have set HOME: MENU: Settings: Applications: Development:
USB debugging: On.

Please sync edfbrowser 1.24-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main).

Please sync this package as it provides significant improvements over
the package present in the archive

Changelog since current maverick version 1.21-1:

edfbrowser (1.24-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * Call git-import-orig instead of uupdate in debian/watch
  * Imported Upstream version 1.22
- Added a docked powerspectrum which updates automatically when you
  navigate through a file (PgUp,PgDn, etc,).
- Added the possibility to use different backgroundcolors for different
  frequencyregions in the docked powerspectrum (colorbars).
- Added an export function for the powerspectrum. This will export the
  data of the powerspectrum to a textfile.
- Added a cursor to the powerspectrum.
- Improved the way filters run-in.
- Added an export function for annotations. This will export the
  annotations to a comma separated textfile.
- Added a possibility to bind keys F1-F8 to predefined montages. This way
  you can quickly switch between different montages by pressing F1, F2, etc
- Removed a bug in the EDF+D to EDF+C converter that could cause a crash.
- Removed a bug in the BDF+ to ASCII converter.
  * Imported Upstream version 1.23
- Changed the DFT-algorithm of the powerspectrum to an FFT-algorithm
  in order to avoid long computation times.
- Added the possibility to adjust the blocksize for the powerspectrum (FFT).
- Added an extra option to the Annotations export tool.
  Now you can choose to save the annotations in a comma separated
  textfile or in the EDFplus format.
- Changed the position of the widgets in the annotation-editor window.
  The "Create" button will not be cut-off anymore when a monitor with
  a resolution of 1024 x 768 is used.
  * Imported Upstream version 1.24
- Solved a bug in the Nihon Kohden to EDF+ converter that caused
  a message "Can not open file *.log for reading,".

[Bug 604686] Re: confirmation should be asked before removing U1 folder from server

2010-07-13 Thread duanedesign
Lionel,
I appreciate your frustration, it is never fun to lose data. In the use case
where you are cleaning off an old computer I would recommend removing it from
your Ubuntu One account before removing data. This would prevent Ubuntu One
from receiving the 'delete' command. Your recommendation for a 'are you sure?'
dialogue is a nice idea. I have updated the title of the bug to reflect this.

When sharing data with co workers I would recommend sharing a folder
with that user instead of granting full access to your Ubuntu One
account. You would still lose the shared folder but not the entire
Ubuntu One folder. You can sharre any folder synced by Ubuntu One by
r-clicking and selecting 'Share on Ubuntu One'
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOne/Tutorials/FileSharing#Sharing

Thank you again for sharing your use cases and ideas. These are very
helpful for future development of Ubuntu One.

thank you,
duanedesign

[Bug 16492] Re: Mouse pointer should disappear when keyboard is in use and mouse isn't

2010-07-13 Thread Fabien Tassin
This is unusable here. After the last round of updates and a restart,
when hovering a gtk app (like xchat or gwibber), the cursor starts to
flicker like hell and the cpu sky rockets (Xorg, metacity and the given
app).

Also, on non-gtk apps (like a regular xterm), the cursor completely
disappears, which is bad for me as i'm using my w-m in follow focus
mode. i.e. i *need* to see where the cursor is to see where i type.

for both these reasons, i have to kill (or uninstall) unclutter

my w-m setup:
===
gconftool-2 --set --type=bool   /apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager true
gconftool-2 --set --type=bool   /apps/metacity/general/auto_raise false
gconftool-2 --set --type=bool   /apps/metacity/general/raise_on_click false
gconftool-2 --set --type=string /apps/metacity/general/focus_mode sloppy
gconftool-2 --set --type=string /apps/metacity/general/focus_new_windows smart
===

this with metacity and nvidia-current.

2010-07-13 Thread Martin Pitt
I am on lucid, without unclutter, and in gedit, gnome-terminal etc. the
mouse already disappears when I start typing. Shouldn't that be enough?
It seems unclutter introduces quite a bunch of bugs (flickering, extra
CPU usage, etc.)
