[Bug 592041] [NEW] cd-rom disc eject after boot with spinning disc
Public bug reported: Something weird happened to my machine after upgrading to kernel 2.6.31-22. The cd-rom automatically ejected a cd after booting with the disc still spinning. It happened twice already and the first time the disc almost leapt out of the tray. It's not a regular occurence, the second time was about a few days after. It has never happened in any of the older kernels. [Bug 591611] Re: evince rendering is blurry at small point sizes (compared with Ubuntu 9.10)
The screenshot shows DiffPDF 1.1.2 on the left and evince on the right, both showing the same page of a PDF. This particular version of DiffPDF had been rebuilt to use poppler 0.14.0. What should be clear from the screenshot (especially if you view it at 200%) is that DiffPDF shows clear text and evince shows blurry text. [Bug 592045] [NEW] [MIR] x-loader/x-loader-omap4/u-boot-omap3/u-boot-omap4
Public bug reported: Availability: These packages is available in Ubuntu maverick in universe on armel Rationale: These are parts of the bootloader using on armel+omap and armel+omap4, and while we do not directly need this package installed, we do use files from the deb in the creation of the image within debian- cd for builds on this subarchitecture. Security: N/A: this package builds binaries which arne't executable on the host system; they're only used by the image build tools, and possibly by advanced users who want to replace the stock bootloader on these boards. QA: Package produces binary blobs that are installed to the bootloader partition, and has no user facing UI. There are no open bugs on any of these packages. UI Standards: N/A, no user accessible UI. Dependencies: All build-deps are in main. Packages do not directly depend on each other, but are only useful when paired with the x-loader and u-boot binaries that match the subarch Standards compliance: Packages are compliant Maintenance: Maintenance for all four packages is being done by the Canonical ARM Team, and the Ubuntu ARM Port Maintainers. Background information: x-loader and uboot are the stage 1 and 2 bootloaders for the TI OMAP 3 and 4 platform and are installed onto a VFAT boot partition as MLO and u-boot.bin respectively. We need these files on the image to make said image bootable without assistance from an in-NAND bootloader. ** Affects: u-boot-omap3 (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: New ** Affects: u-boot-omap4 (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: New ** Affects: x-loader (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: New ** Affects: x-loader-omap4 (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: New ** Affects: u-boot-omap3 (Ubuntu Maverick) Importance: High Status: New ** Affects: u-boot-omap4 (Ubuntu Maverick) Importance: High Status: New ** Affects: x-loader (Ubuntu Maverick) Importance: High Status: New ** Affects: x-loader-omap4 (Ubuntu Maverick) Importance: High Status: New ** Tags: armel ** Also affects: x-loader-omap4 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: u-boot-omap3 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: u-boot-omap4 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: u-boot-omap3 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: u-boot-omap4 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: x-loader-omap4 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: x-loader (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: u-boot-omap3 (Ubuntu) Milestone: None => maverick-alpha-2 ** Changed in: x-loader (Ubuntu) Milestone: None => maverick-alpha-2 ** Changed in: u-boot-omap4 (Ubuntu) Milestone: None => maverick-alpha-2 ** Changed in: x-loader-omap4 (Ubuntu) Milestone: None => maverick-alpha-2 -- [MIR] x-loader/x-loader-omap4/u-boot-omap3/u-boot-omap4 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/592045 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Is that intentional? i'm using whatever comes with Ubuntu 8.10 for the ATI Radeon 5900. fglrx simply doesn't work so I don't use it Neat. You probably want to install libgl1-mesa-dri (or something like that). I'd blame a bug in mesa's software rasteriser for crashing when compiling a GLSL program. fair enough libgl1-mesa-dri is installed Well, then I stand by my suggestion that it's mesa crashing, and it shouldn't be. What's xdriinfo say, BTW? There's Wine debug channels that'll dump the shaders being produced, that would let you see what the GLSL being fed to Mesa looks like, and then you could chase it up with Mesa developers, or even write yourself a test harness if you're up to it. i have no programming skills unfortunately. my days ended with BASIC Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":20.0". Screen 0: not direct rendering capable. that's not good! If you are aware of Wine, you will be aware that there are many debug channels available, but I do not know enough about this kind of error to know what further information would be useful (including which package is causing the problem).
