[Bug 592041] [NEW] cd-rom disc eject after boot with spinning disc

2010-06-10 Thread matangdilis
Public bug reported:

Something weird happened to my machine after upgrading to kernel
2.6.31-22. The cd-rom automatically ejected a cd after booting with the
disc still spinning. It happened twice already and the first time the
disc almost leapt out of the tray. It's not a regular occurence, the
second time was about a few days after. It has never happened in any of
the older kernels.

Perhaps it's a combination of new kernel and old hardware? Can anyone
confirm this.

In Lucid Lynx (10.04) or Karmic Koala (9.10) ?

The bug is supposed to have been fixed in the lucid (10.04) packages,
released at version 1.1.0.7-1.2ubuntu2. It's not fixed in 9.10.

[Bug 591611] Re: evince rendering is blurry at small point sizes (compared with Ubuntu 9.10)

2010-06-10 Thread Mark Summerfield
The screenshot shows DiffPDF 1.1.2 on the left and evince on the right,
both showing the same page of a PDF. This particular version of DiffPDF
had been rebuilt to use poppler 0.14.0. What should be clear from the
screenshot (especially if you view it at 200%) is that DiffPDF shows
clear text and evince shows blurry text.

The Appearance preferences were Subpixel smoothing (LCDs) on, Smoothing
Subpixel smoothing (LCDs) on, Hinting Slight, and Subpixel order RGB---
however, changing the settings didn't improve matters.

[Bug 592047] [NEW] wl driver is in unusable state after suspend

2010-06-10 Thread RickvanderZwet
Public bug reported:

= Expected =
   Wireless Network to reconnect fine after suspend.

= Actual behaviour =
   Network manager is claiming password is not valid for wireless network,
wpa_suppliant in debug mode compaints about various errors, like WPA MIC and
ioctl errors, causing not to be able to connect.

= Debug output to for workaround =
  - I have stopped the network manager;

/etc/init.d/network-manager stop

  - I have killed any remaining wpa_suppliant instances;

killall -KILL wpa_suppliant

  - I have started the wpa_suppliant in debug mode;

sudo /sbin/wpa_supplicant -Dwext -iwlan0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf -dd -t
2>&1 | tee -i /tmp/wpa_supplicant.log

  - I have included my Terminal output in the logfile was well;

export PROMPT_COMMAND='history -a; history -r; logger -t Terminal
"`tail -1 $HOME/.bash_history`"

  - I have poked-it-with-a-stick to get it working again using various
instances of rmmod modprobe, ifconfig, iwconfig, tcpdump but this method
is not reliable and cannot be reproduced every time.

= Most interesting messages to me =
When looking at the logfile there are a few messages which worries me the most,
but I cannot deduct any logical or workaround based upon them:

   - WPA: Could not verify EAPOL-Key MIC - dropping packet

   - ioctl[SIOCGIWSCAN]: Invalid argument

   - ioctl[SIOCSIWAP]: Device or resource busy

[Bug 592045] [NEW] [MIR] x-loader/x-loader-omap4/u-boot-omap3/u-boot-omap4

2010-06-10 Thread Michael Casadevall
Public bug reported:

Availability: These packages is available in Ubuntu maverick in universe
on armel

Rationale: These are parts of the bootloader using on armel+omap and
armel+omap4, and while we do not directly need this package installed,
we do use files from the deb in the creation of the image within debian-
cd for builds on this subarchitecture.

Security: N/A: this package builds binaries which arne't executable on
the host system; they're only used by the image build tools, and
possibly by advanced users who want to replace the stock bootloader on
these boards.

QA: Package produces binary blobs that are installed to the bootloader
partition, and has no user facing UI. There are no open bugs on any of
these packages.

UI Standards: N/A, no user accessible UI.

Dependencies: All build-deps are in main. Packages do not directly
depend on each other, but are only useful when paired with the x-loader
and u-boot binaries that match the subarch

Standards compliance: Packages are compliant

Maintenance: Maintenance for all four packages is being done by the
Canonical ARM Team, and the Ubuntu ARM Port Maintainers.

Background information: x-loader and uboot are the stage 1 and 2
bootloaders for the TI OMAP 3 and 4 platform and are installed onto a
VFAT boot partition as MLO and u-boot.bin respectively. We need these
files on the image to make said image bootable without assistance from
an in-NAND bootloader.

[Bug 588153] Re: bt878 TV card: audio not working anymore

2010-06-10 Thread Blackestmajor

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please answer these questions:

What the exact method you've used to install and made working your bt878 card ?
What the exact model and brand of the card ?
Have you looked at the sound parameters, probably switching between "capture"
and "line" ?

This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

[Bug 592052] [NEW] User job for mythexport does not run

2010-06-10 Thread Florian Hackenberger
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mythexport

The user job created by mythexport will not be executed by mythtv, as
the save_userjob.cgi does not insert the full path into the settings
table.

I have checked with /proc that the PATH environment variable does
contain /usr/bin, but mythtv seems to require a full path to the binary
for user jobs.

This bug essentially breaks mythexport on Lucid. A patch is attached.

[Bug 371750] Re: Wine d3d9 test causes unhandled exception

2010-06-10 Thread Ken Sharp
The crash does indeed still occur with Lucid.

I have attached an updated backtrace with the latest Wine git. I added
the -dbg package for the graphics drivers too but they don't seem to
have made any difference.

** Attachment added: "wine-1.2-rc2-251-ge533ec4 console output"
   http://launchpadlibrarian.net/50058197/d3d9_test.log

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

  Running the d3d9 tests from the current git Wine
  (wine-1.1.20-185-g2d8f252) causes an unhandled exception.

  From #winehq:
   KenSharp: Anyway, looks like you're in Mesa3D software rendering, and
it and Wine are not getting along. Is that intentional?
   i'm using whatever comes with Ubuntu 8.10 for the ATI Radeon 5900.
fglrx simply doesn't work so I don't use it
   Neat. You probably want to install libgl1-mesa-dri (or something like
that). I'd blame a bug in mesa's software rasteriser for crashing when
compiling a GLSL program.
   fair enough
   libgl1-mesa-dri is installed
   Well, then I stand by my suggestion that it's mesa crashing, and it
shouldn't be. What's xdriinfo say, BTW?
   There's Wine debug channels that'll dump the shaders being produced,
that would let you see what the GLSL being fed to Mesa looks like, and then you
could chase it up with Mesa developers, or even write yourself a test harness
if you're up to it.
   i have no programming skills unfortunately. my days ended with
BASIC
   Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":20.0".
   Screen 0: not direct rendering capable.
   that's not good!

  If you are aware of Wine, you will be aware that there are many debug
  channels available, but I do not know enough about this kind of error to
  know what further information would be useful (including which package
  is causing the problem).

  Graphics card is an ATI Radeon 5900. I am not running fglrx.

Apps, like totem, which inhibit the screensaver, do cause notify-osd to
suppress asynchronous notifications (e.g. being informed about email,
chat-messages). This is called Do-Not-Disturb mode. For a more detailed

I had a look at your diff, and it is indeed the same as my diff (mine
obviously didn't have the header/footer changes), and given i've tested
my change, i guess your change works, by virtue of the fact that it's
the same as mine, which i've tested.

[Bug 592060] [NEW] [MIR] libgee

2010-06-10 Thread Didier Roche
Public bug reported:

Followed the https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MainInclusionProcess and all
requirements are complete for Main Inclusion of libgee.

Availability: in universe
Rationale: libgee is a library needed by unity itself (which will be the
default UNE interface in maverick).
Security: no security issue known right now
Quality assurance: The package is in sync with Debian since Hardy. There is no
open bug against it and the DD seems to be very active
UI standards: no UI
Dependencies: all in main
Standards compliance: follow FHS guidelines
Maintenance: desktop team will be in charge of the maintenance of the package
as it's a GObject wrapper
Background information:
Description of the package:
GObject based collection library
 libgee is a collection library providing GObject-based interfaces and
 classes for commonly used data structures.
 .
 libgee provides the following interfaces:
  * Iterable
   * Collection
* List
* Set
  * Iterator
  * Map
 .
 The ArrayList, HashSet, and HashMap classes provide a reasonable sample
 implementation of the List, Set, and Map interfaces. ReadOnlyCollection,
 ReadOnlyList, ReadOnlySet, and ReadOnlyMap are read-only wrapper classes
 that prevent modification of the underlying collection.
 .
 libgee is written in Vala and can be used like any GObject-based C library.
 It's planned to provide bindings for further languages.

[Bug 592059] [NEW] Computer crash report hours after sent emails with attached MS Word files using Openoffice.org

I'm not sure what happened.

All I know is I sent some emails to a new co-worker with some attached
MS Word files using OpenOffice.org from a DVD circa 4 p.m. Wednesday
without any problems. Then 6.5 hours later, I watched a movie on my DVD
player and there was an error a third way through the movie. Then i
left my computer on, and about an hour or two later I tried to open the
DVD tray and discovered a crash report.

This is the movie I was watching:

[Bug 564463] Re: x61: Clonemode active while in docking station with closed lid

2010-06-10 Thread Torsten Spindler
xrandr or rather gnome-display-properties is not an option for our
customer here. From their perspective it's a regression as their now
working Linux (different vendor) provides them with a non-cloned output
on the external display. They do have their own repository, so creating
a specialized version that works for their 10k systems is worth
pursuing.
