[Bug 514686] [NEW] List formatting partially lost when saving as RTF
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openoffice.org When saving a document that contains bullet lists as RTF, part of the list formatting is lost: some items have the expected formatting, others don't. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open the attached list.odt file 2. Go to File -> Save As 3. Select Rich Text Format (.rtf) in the file type drop down box 4. Click save 5. Close Open Office 6. Open the saved RTF file with Open Office Expected behaviour The RTF version of the file has the same formatting as the ODT version. Actual behaviour In the RTF version of the file, some of the list items have lost their bullet and identiation (see attached screenshot for a side by side comparison). [Bug 364156] Re: powernow-k8: BIOS does not provide ACPI -PSS objects in a way that Linux understands
I see this problem on all 6 AMD machines I work with on a regular basis. CPU frequency scaling is disabled. Most of these machines have the log message [Firmware Bug]: powernow-k8: No compatible ACPI _PSS objects found. These machines are configured with motherboards from various vendors using various AMD / NVIDIA chipsets. The common factor is the K8 / K10 cpu architecture and the Linux kernel (2.6.28 and .31 possibly earlier as well). The problem is most acute on the recently released IBM thinkpad edge notebook which boots both Window7 and Ubuntu 10.04. In windows it appears to run at a much lower temperature. Based on this observation I assume frequency scaling is working in Windows so it is hard to understand how the lack of frequency scaling in Ubuntu could be a BIOS bug. Given the pervasiveness of the problem in Linux and the observation that Windows seems to scale CPU frequency, isn't this problem more likely to be a Linux kernel issue. Or does windows somehow workaround the BIOS bug. If so perhaps there is workaround that could be applied in the linux kernel. more attachments to follow ** Attachment added: "acpidump.txt" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/38553264/acpidump.txt -- powernow-k8: BIOS does not provide ACPI -PSS objects in a way that Linux understands https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/364156 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 514234] Re: Autodetection results in reduced resolutions available - i915
** Description changed: Binary package hint: xorg I'm using a Dell optiplex 760 with an intel i915 chipset. The problem is that xorg *usually* doesn't recognize the screen so it uses a lower resolution 800x600. The only available resolutions are 640x480 and 800x600. Sometimes however the screen is recognized and the resolution is just fine. I haven't been able to find out under what circumstances this happens... My guess is that EDID information is sometimes detected incorrectly... I've tried rebooting Karmic with the kernel parameter modeset=0 and creating an xorg.conf file through X -configure but it doesn't seem to make any difference. + I've also noticed that (when the right resolution is selected) after a + couple of hours the screen turns black for 1-2 secs. It does that + blinking several times and finally the screen turns off. When I + restarted the pc it did the same thing only much faster like 5 mins + after booting. + + ProblemType: Bug Architecture: amd64 Date: Fri Jan 29 12:53:11 2010 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" - Release amd64 (20091027) MachineType: Dell Inc. The current awn version was released about two weeks ago so it's most probably an awn bug. -- awn disappeared after update to gconf 2.28.0-1ubuntu3 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/514134 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 469820] Re: [GM45] system locks up at random intervals, except mouse
I have forwarded this bug to the upstream bug tracker at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26333 . Please register at bugs.freedesktop.org and add yourself to the CC:-field, so that you may receive any updates and questions from the intel developers. There are two things I can think about right now that may be of additional value to the developers: 1. On https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/Freeze I have added information about how to use the DebugFlushCaches option which may make the batchbuffer dumps more readable for the developers. You can add this option to /etc/X11/xorg.conf and upload the next batchbuffer dump to the upstream bug report directly, noting that this one is with the DebugFlushCaches option. 2. Trying to exclude some subsystems. For example, if the freezes continue without desktop effects enabled and without any 3D programs or -screensavers, we can exclude that the bug is in the 3D-acceleration part of the driver stack. There is a list of xorg.conf option at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/Freeze#Narrow%20Subsystem%20it%20Occurs%20in and I can probably add the Tiling option to that list. You can upload any additional batchbuffer dumps to the upstream bug report instead of here from now. I don't think that trying with standard Lucid will have much value, except if it turns out that the bug isn't present there, which would be quite surprising. ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #26333 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26333 ** Also affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel via https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26333 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- [GM45] system locks up at random intervals, except mouse https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/469820 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I've also noticed that (when the right resolution is selected) after a couple of hours the screen turns black for 1-2 secs. It does that blinking several times and finally the screen turns off. Multimedia from lshw: *-multimedia description: Audio device product: 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller vendor: Intel Corporation physical id: 1b bus info: p...@:00:1b.0 version: 03 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: bus_master cap_list configuration: driver=HDA Intel latency=0 resources: irq:22 memory:ca10-ca103fff $ uname -a Linux 2.6.31-17-generic #54-Ubuntu SMP Thu Dec 10 17:01:44 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux I have tried to capture the sound from the microphone with audacity, when I noticed, that the DC level of the signal is changing, depending on the position of the volume slider. When I increased the volume the DC level increased also. I've also tried to plug a signal generator to the microphone input jack. With large (let's say 200mV peak to peak) input signals the sound card worked as it should. I've installed a native windows XP and repeated the test above. The results are interesting. I have started recording in audacity and moved the volume slider up and down, and it captured this: http://users.hszk.bme.hu/~kn652/82801I.png . So there is a highpass filter somewhere in the windows driver, which is not inplemented in Linux. So I think its a kernel problem. -- Internal mic not working: 82801I (ICH9 Family), STAC9xx https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/462575 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 488319] Re: Reboot hangs on Dell Optiplex 760 (workaround: reboot=bios)
It seems that reboot=acpi does not work. I installed 2.6.33-rc6 (from today) and rebooted successfully 4 times after booting with reboot=bios, like before. I then changed the boot parameter to reboot=acpi. After booting with this the first time, the computer came back up successfully after a reboot. The next time, however, the computer didn't come back up. Since I have moved to Norway and the two affected computers are located in Canada I had to do this via ssh and playing with /etc/default/grub and update-grub. I can't hit the power button or verify that it wasn't something else that went wrong. I hope this testing is sufficient. If necessary, I can try without any reboot option with 2.6.33-rc6 once someone comes to work after the weekend and gives it a power cycle. -- Reboot hangs on Dell Optiplex 760 (workaround: reboot=bios) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/488319 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 402154] Re: grub2 Windows 7 fails to start.
This bug isn't solved, look at bug #475881 In bug #486499 user mentions about a workaround, but it doesn't help in my case. In bug #454930 you can find similar problem, but with Windows XP. >From my investigation I found, that windows bootloader is starting and loading some files, but after initialization process it wants to access files via root drive and can't find this files. My Windows 7 64bit always reboots without any BSOD or error message, so it is only my guess. I have tried using some workaround, like removing search command, but nothing helps. At last I installed Grub1, it works like a charm, but for not so experienced user it will be too hard to fix. To make things 'worse', on second computer with similar configuration everything is OK. It has Windows 7 64bit on sda1 and Ubuntu 32bit on extended partition (sda5 or sda6 ext4). Disk is SATA2. [Bug 513623] Re: wallpaper gets a white frame
I have had this happen twice since updating to Lucid three days ago. Suddenly a thin white frame appears around the screen. I don't know how to reliably reproduce this, though. -- wallpaper gets a white frame https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/513623 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Indeed, anjuta was split into two for convenience. anjuta-extras is basically about half of the same stuffs in anjuta before. Re: [Bug 514336] Re: "Key presses repeat when key is held down" does not work
Hmm, after removing that ppa using ppa-purge (and thus downgrading xserver-xorg-video-ati), I got the same behavior.
