[Bug 456808] Re: Karmic-Networking (SAMBA) just does not work, even with detailed attention.
@justinc, Patrick Martin: could you try changing the password for the primary/sudo user to see if it changes anything ? libpam-smbpass theorically synchronizes the system password with the samba password (when the user is first created, when the password is changed, and at login time), but there may be an issue there. -- Karmic-Networking (SAMBA) just does not work, even with detailed attention. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/456808 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 441904] Re: ubiquity-dm crashed with XStartupError in run()
I have this on the ubuntu forums Error: no such device: af1b622e-4651-4ccd-959a-cb684df49e64 I am trying to install xubuntu 9.10 on a machine, when I boot with the xubuntu 9.10 cd I select install, instead of taking me to the install process it takes me to the live cd, also during that time It goes to, I guess what I would call terminal, while it is loading, during that time I am seeing allot of buffer I/O errors SRO on the sector and logical, after all of that It goes to the live cd, then it has a crash report, then that takes me to what I believe is closest to what I have bug: 441904 reading through the comments of that bug, they were talking about it should be fixed on the final 9.10, I go through the install on the live cd, (clicking on install on the desktop) everything goes fine, after that I do notice another crash report but I don't remember what that one is, I reboot like it ask, take out the cd and when the grub tries to load I get this: Error: no such device: af1b622e-4651-4ccd-959a-cb684df49e64 failed to boot default entries I did have xubuntu 9.04 upgraded to 9.10 installed on the same machine, I wanted the newest partition format, so that is why I am trying to do this clean install also, reading in the bug report someone was saying their cd player was faulting and that was giving them the I/O's, I replaced the old cd player with a new dvd/cd player and still problems -- ubiquity-dm crashed with XStartupError in run() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/441904 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The latest upstream version of system-admin-guide is the one included in karmic. See for yourself at the bottom of this page: http://library.gnome.org/admin/system-admin-guide/2.28/index- info.html.en The fact that this guide is outdated is one of the reasons that we don't include it in any of the links found in the Ubuntu onboard system help. [Bug 319494] Re: Tracks in Various Artists Albums aren't grouped together
I've gone back to Amarok 1.4 because of the issues with various artists in 2...the issues were quite a bit bigger than I thought: 1. Grouping is wrong as described in this post 2. Sometimes if I mark an album as "remove from various artists" amarok either refuses to remove it, or removes it but upon restart they are back in various artists this is one of many many bugs that I've encountered in Amarok 2, so this is just one of the contributing factors for me to go back to 1.4 which has always been solid for me. Other issues related to various artists: With my own mixes that show up in Various Artists I can't get wiki or lyrics but using the same exact files in 1.4 I get both, no problem at all (tags are all right) Can't display things under various artists AND under their own artists, it's one or the other, it'd be nice to have the option to have both as sometimes I want to see my album but sometimes I want to go to the artists and see the files there -- Tracks in Various Artists Albums aren't grouped together https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/319494 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to amarok in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: In a fully updated (2010/01/11) Lucid chroot, I get an ldm segfault when I try to enter my username/password. That's probably because `echo $SERVER` returns "10.160.31.10\n10.160.31.10" (note the enter there). The SERVER variable is set by ltsp_config, and the problem originates in this line: server=$(pgrep -f -l $DEVICE | awk '{print $3}') In my system, with DEVICE=/dev/nbd0, this pgrep returns two matches: 230 nbd-client 10.160.31.10 2000 /dev/nbd0 232 nbd-client 10.160.31.10 2000 /dev/nbd0 A quick hack would be to include a `head -n 1` there (or use sed/q instead of awk/head), but I don't think two nbd-clients should be there in the first place... ** Affects: ltsp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- nbd-client /dev/nbd0 is ran twice, causing ldm to segfault https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/505787 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Colin, I'll rather propose that (simplifying the code): # Prevent from updating if parameters already present (persistent usb key) if ! `grep -qs 'AutomaticLoginEnable' $GDMCustomFile` ; then if ! `grep -qs '\[daemon\]' $GDMCustomFile` ; then printf '[daemon]' >> $GDMCustomFile fi sed -i "s/\[daemon\]/\[daemon\]\n$AutologinParameters/" $GDMCustomFile fi With that, we handle every cases: - no GDMCustomFile, create the autologin part with [daemon] - GDMCustomFile already exists with [daemon] section but without the autologin part (case of ubutu derivatives): add it - GDMCustomFile exists without [daemon] section: add all the autologin stuff and the section (don't know if that can happen with current GDM implementation, but it'll surely later) - GDMCustomFile exists with [daemon] section and autologin stuff in place (case of persistent usb key): don't do anything And we get our \n interpreted by sed :) This new proposal is in my linked branch. ** Changed in: casper (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High -- No more autologin in live CD https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/505140 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 505571] Re: File ordering should be case-insensitive
Oops! It seems that for some reason my locales have fallen back to default. This can be another kind of bug (I've just seen some recent locale errors in lucid are happening), so I can't say if the nautilus ordering works otherwise. [Bug 505789] [NEW] gnome-screensaver-command -p triggers keyboard event
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver When "gnome-screensaver-command -p" is called, it triggers a keyboard- event (something with Alt+...). This is a problem when called from for example blueproximity where the command is called in the background and the user has an application like oowriter (or some other app with a trigger for the particular keyboard event) focused. In that case it opens the File-menu every 10 seconds, which is, needless to say, annoying. Way to replicate: sleep 5 && gnome-screensaver-command -p Now focus oowriter and 5 seconds later, the File-menu will open. BTW, this bug is new since I've used this command for at least a year and the problem surfaced after an update on December 29th 2009; Upgraded the following packages: gnome-screensaver (2.28.0-0ubuntu3.1) to 2.28.0-0ubuntu3.2 ** Affects: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: blueproximity gnome-screensaver -- gnome-screensaver-command -p triggers keyboard event https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/505789 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 486716] Re: Can't search database if a command is on PATH
Thanks for your bugreport and your patch. It is possible (also currently pretty difficult) to search the c-n-f database for installed packages. Here is a example: $ /usr/lib/command-not-found --ignore-installed alien The program 'alien' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing: sudo apt-get install alien alien: command not found Having a simpler way is probably a good idea. If you are interessted on working on this I would suggest to start with the lp:~ubuntu-core-dev/command-not-found/ubuntu branch as the 0.3 branch is currently not planned to land for lucid. I would also suggest to use a slightly less generic name like "packages-provides-command". For quickest turn-around for patches, its probably best to use irc (I'm "mvo" on freenode) or mail me patches directly :) Cheers, Michael -- Can't search database if a command is on PATH https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/486716 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
