I am experiencing the same problem here, running Ubuntu 9.10 RC. Couldn't find much information about it. I would have asked for help earlier, but https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox-3.0/+bug/90376 also displays "Saving..." forever when reporting a problem using FF. And even Konqueror reports the following: "Error The following errors were encountered: 400 Bad Request Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Apache/2.2.8 (Ubuntu) mod_ssl/2.2.8 OpenSSL/0.9.8g Server at wildcard.launchpad.net Port 443" Using ff3@windowsxp, I could file this report I could download the jdk document on the sun site using Konquerer on the same PC, but not with Opera 10.00 / Epiphany 2.26.1. [Bug 368659] Re: Display flickering then system crash
I have also had this bug for some time. I have the 180 nvidia driver and compiz running on Ubuntu 9.04. Dual monitors too. Symptoms are, screens flicker then go black. Keyboard is unresponsive but sometimes mouse will still move. The latest time this happened I was able to login from another machine. Everything was still running. Initially the 'Xorg' process was taking up 100% CPU then it calmed down to about 5%. I was able to switch to text mode and back once with Ctrl-Alt-F1. Then both monitors lost their signal all together. Personally, I think it is buggy Nvidia drivers. They don't have a good track record. I've heard rumor that Nvidia's main reason for having their binary only HAL driver is to hide the fact that it tries to work around a number of hardware bugs. Just Open-Source the whole driver and fix the bugs. This happens on my system a couple of times a week with regular use. [Bug 460897] [NEW] Tracker not returning known results
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: tracker Tracker is not giving me results when I query a known-existing string. I have a large collection of MP3s that are indexed on a mdadm RAID5 array that are shared through Samba. I have many ZZ Top albums on this share but Tracker will return 0 results when the query "zz top" is used. A similar search for "acdc" also returns 0 results even though many songs exist in the indexed locations. The total files indexed by the Tracker daemon is 337951, 49562 of them being identified as music in the "Statistics" dialog. [Bug 459134] Re: karmic: networking is started too late in the boot process
I'm quite certain you know this stuff better than me, and I've heard before that there is no /etc/init.d/networking Unfortunately, there is proof that this is incorrect. If it's not intended to be there, than that is another bug. Steps to reproduce (tested with ubuntu-server and kubuntu karmic rc1): - Install karmic rc1 - $ dpkg -S /etc/init.d/networking netbase: /etc/init.d/networking netbase is a dependancy of ubuntu-minimal and does contain /etc/init.d/networking. Another question is: is it important? All I know is that the network comes up way too late (not why) and that booting halts as a result. A slow boot is not really a problem, but this renders the machine unusable and is thus a critical bug. ** Changed in: mountall (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => New -- karmic: networking is started too late in the boot process https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/459134 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 417842] Re: WARNING: at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.31/kernel/power/suspend_test.c:52 suspend_test_finish+0x7c/0x80()
I looked up in the kernel source code, what it was related to! It simply means the resume took too long. However according to the source the timing is based on jiffies (whatever that is) which is not a a good timebase. The developpers would prefer a hardward timer. Also when looking at the latest snapshot of the linux kernel suspend_test.c has been modified : now the kernel expect the resume to in 10 sec not 5 like before, and the time taken for resume will be displayed in the warning message. The change in the kernel snapshot should solve the problem for some of you. -- WARNING: at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.31/kernel/power/suspend_test.c:52 suspend_test_finish+0x7c/0x80() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/417842 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 276508] Re: [intrepid] [Atheros AR5211] ath5k driver inoperative, wpa_supplicant never completes connection
Any chance of getting higher priority on this issue ?As this could be a bit of a show stopper for people to move to Ubuntu. I believe that this is becoming a bigger issue that affects a large enough community (running IBM Thinkpads) that we need to get to the bottom of this. I have seen various up and down performance on my Thinkpad T60 for the last 3 release cycles and was hopeing to get it more stable by the release of Karmic GA, but sadly it seems that there are no progress? I am also finding more and more related bugs with various desctriptions etc all relating to Athereos wireless. Root cause could boil down to the same thing ?? ? Not sure. BTW, my wireless connection has deteriorated so much that it is almost unasable (Wanted 2 days to upgrade yesterday via Wireless connection on a 4GB ADSL line ?) H.
