Re: [Bug 334809] Re: design problem? infinite wait for long queue
Hello people, I worked on the libnotify plugin for Exaile (0.2 & 0.3, but well, they're not stable yet). The behaviour described by Mark is really not difficult to implement. You just have to use update() instead of creating new notifications, it's nothing hard (but notification-daemon is a big failure with update(). It doesn't really manage it properly). Now about my point of view on developers who don't want to bother with these "details", as much as bother with the whole interface design, well, they're just gonna lose their users to other apps with less features but easier to use and looking nicer with a desktop. Users don't want exclusively features, they also expect some coherence between the apps (æsthetically, but also for menus, keyboard shortcuts, etc), and if an app looks different, it's just not used by the vast majority. Making one's app behave nicely in an aimed desktop is just as important as making it work at all. Cordially, SD. PS : if anyone wanna test the plugin there is a bug on LP where it's attached ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/exaile/+bug/332999 ). This isn't the latest version but I'm waiting for Exaile to hit 0.3 before recoding it properly. [Bug 28835] Re: "Unmount" in volume right-click menu, is tech-speak and undiscoverable
** Description changed: If I right click a removable device in computer:// there is an "Unmount Volume" option. There's two issues with this: 1) "Unmount" is a technical term users can not be anticipated to know what means. "Remove safely" or something would probably be better. 2) It is not easily discoverable. This is bad for two reasons: - 2.1 - People does not necesarily know that a usb-stick should be properly unmounted to ensure filesystem entegrity. + 2.1 - People does not necesarily know that a usb-stick should be properly unmounted to ensure filesystem integrity. 2.2 - It is not possible to just eject a CD by pushing the eject button on the drive. Steve, This behaviour was just introduced in Karmic because this code was never actually compiled in before, due to http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=584217. [Bug 363430] Re: "error, couldn't find SDL module from MLT, Kdenlive will not start untill you fix this"
i'm having this problem too-but it seems to be a little different on my system. i have ubuntu 9.04 32 bit edition. I installed kdenlive and ran the initial wizard that comes up. I tried out kdenlive. I never rendered any video. Then I installed frei0r- plugins. I played with some more video. I went to render and it didn't work. I got the message about it being corrupted. I couldn't figure out the problem for some time. I finally tried running the config wizard from settings -> run config wizard. That is when I got the message: "error, couldn't find SDL module from MLT, Kdenlive will not start untill you fix this" So I searched the web for that message and came up here. I tried what Guido suggested. Or I think I did-and it was a partial work-around for me. It solved the inability to render-if I left out step 5. But I wasn't able to get frei0r-plugins reinstalled and have it work. Here is exactly what I did: 1 uninstalled frei0r-plugins using synaptic 2 started kdenlive from applications -> audio and video 3 ran "run config wizard" from settings 4 closed kdenlive If I open it again and try to render it works. If I follow step 5 and reinstall frei0r-plugins with synaptic and then run kdenlive I end up being unable to render-even if I try to run "run config wizard" after the reinstall of the frei0r-plugins. 5 reinstall frei0r-plugins -- "error, couldn't find SDL module from MLT, Kdenlive will not start untill you fix this" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/363430 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 354913] Re: vboxnetflt: Multiple versions in DKMS. Unsure what to do. Resolve manually.
Same issue here with VirtualBox 2.2.4 after a kernel upgrade. I found that there was two version in /var/lib/dkms/vboxnetflt: 2.2.4 and 2.1.0. I removed the wrong version /var/lib/dkms/vboxnetflt/2.1.0 and the symlink that pointed to it. This solved the problem on vboxnetflt startup. Then I did: sudo /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup After that, VirtualBox works fine again. Hope this helps. -- vboxnetflt: Multiple versions in DKMS. Unsure what to do.
