[Bug 387179] [NEW] usability issue in quick connect
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: tsclient We are getting a lot of people in our office to start using Ubuntu - and Terminal Services is an important part of it. I have seen a lot of people expecting the following: 1. The Quick Connect dropdown has a list of saved profiles 2. When you select a particular profile from Quick Connect, the Logon Settings section gets populated with the profile settings. 3. When you press connect, terminal services connects according to the logon settings (which came from a saved profile) 4. With reference to Bug #160038 , the last N hosts connected to (but not saved *explicitly* as a named profile) should still be available in the Quick Connect dropdown, named as the IP address of the machine you used. The explicitly saved profiles and the auto-saved last-n-hosts can be separated by a separator. 5. Do NOT save passwords unless a checkbox ("Save Password?") is ticked. This is to prevent a sysadmin temporarily using a machine to connect and having the password saved. I have had a lot of people being surprised when selection of a profile (#2 above) causes a connection to launch. These people are used to the way putty handles profiles and it was very puzzling for them. It would be great if these usability issues are addressed! thanks. ** Affects: tsclient (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- usability issue in quick connect https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/387179 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 379593] Re: 3G sierra wireless card cannot connect. Driver Loads but unable to dial.
Hi Bejay, et. al. I have a Fujitsu T2010 that has a built in Sierra MC8780 3G modem. Like you worked fine in earlier versions now in 9.04 it doesn't. Connects, logs in and then gets reset/closed. I updated the Driver - but this did not resolve the NM issue. It did however let me manually use pppd to connect. When comparing the logs for NM vs. direct I noticed that direct uses /dev/ttyUSB0 for comms whilst NM appears to be trying to use /dev/ttyUSB2 for comms. It would appear that NM is trying to talk across the wrong device in my case, but at this time I am not sure how to change NM's behaviour. Can anybody help with this?? As a result - there appears to be a bug in the NM environment in choosing the correct device. I don't know if I actually needed to upgrade the driver, although the Sierra site certainly implies it is necessary. -- 3G sierra wireless card cannot connect. [Bug 355998] Re: usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning
OK, here's some better testing from me... I used a different Ubuntu 9.04 32-bit system where I hadn't tested this before. It has this sort of USB interface: 00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller (rev 01) The system is running up-to-date Jaunty with this kernel: Linux spot 2.6.28-11-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 17 01:57:59 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux My Sansa e260 has an extra 8GB Micro SDHC card. It is running the old bootloader that boots into the original Sansa firmware when the device is off and then the USB is plugged in. It is also running Rockbox r20338-090317 - yes, that's from March... but it works... ;-) For each state of my Ubuntu system (see below) I did 2 tests: 1. From e260 off: With the e260's power off, I plugged in the USB cable and let the device boot into the original Sansa firmware. The expected result is that the filesystem on the built-in 4GB flash storage is mounted. 2. From e260 on: With the e260's power on, running Rockbox, I plugged in the USB cable and Rockbox detected the USB connection. The expected result is that the filesystems on both the built-in 4GB flash storage and the additional 8GB Micro SDHC card are separately mounted. That is, I should see 2 mounted filesystems. Tests: 1. Standard Jaunty system with no PPA packages. Both tests fail. I don't see any log messages after: usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning 2. Jaunty system with my PPA packages, before reboot. Both tests pass - both filesystems are mounted. 3. Jaunty system with my PPA packages, after reboot. Both tests pass - both filesystems are mounted. [Bug 386929] Re: Evolution Contacts crash on PDA sync when using WebDAV source
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. [Bug 371525] Re: laptop-mode crashes taking up 100% CPU with IOWait when polling for battery level is enabled
I have a problem which could be related to this issue. I'm running Ubuntu 9.04 on a Thinkpad x200s. After some minutes (also in idle, when I'm not using the computer) processes spawn and spawn. This goes on until there are like 2k-3k processes and the computer will hang (and I need to "hard"reset it). You'll see in my attachments that "lm-polling-daem" and "laptop-mode" are somehow related to this. The attachments are outputs of "pstree -p" and are indexed by the number of total processes (which i got from "top"). Which additional information/logs/etc can I provide? ** Attachment added: "pstreeoutput_1900.txt" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/27914175/pstreeoutput_1900.txt -- laptop-mode crashes taking up 100% CPU with IOWait when polling for battery level is enabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/371525 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
