[Bug 378586] [NEW] Pokerth window is too big for small res (netbook) screens

2009-05-20 Thread atreju
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pokerth

On my Netbook (Samsung NC10, 1024x600 resolution) the vertical size of the
pokerth playing window does not fit on the screen, making it impossible to
play. The size of the window is hardcoded in src/gui/qt/gametable.ui as 680
pixels, too big for most netbooks. There is no option in the settings to change
the screen size.
This is in current jaunty 9.04:

[Bug 355155] Re: Computer hard locks randomly with ubuntu jaunty

2009-05-20 Thread justamob
I have the same issue, system uptime with identical load activity for
Intrepid (8.10) for 2 weeks or more (until I needed to boot Windows)
with no issues. Installed Jaunty (fresh) May 12th, and every 12-30 hours
of uptime I have a 'Hard Freeze' nada, no keyboard, mouse, 5 second
power-interrupt requirement (no kernel panic?).

Originally discovered this bug doing an rm on a directory (about 100 files)
from cli.
have successfully used the 'rm' without incident, most of the time, but 3 other
times.
Decided to apt-get uqm to enjoy a little nostalgia, crash? same as before,
rebooted, clicked the 'crash happened' bubble upon reboot, and it froze (as if
BAITING me)...

Very irrational bug, if you ask me. There is little logic, except maybe
video -- I was playing a movie and it froze then as well (today).

BUT, that does remind me that I had 'reniced' the vlc process to stop
the jumpiness since I have a P4 -- COULD that be an issue? (renice -15).

I do agree with the previous posters, this is definitely a deal breaker
to put on my live server -- Does anyone know if this is solely a gdm
issue?

Also, I do have heavy network (wired) use from time to time.

Funny, I guess I haven't had to use the power button to kill the machine
before, that could be why I don't know the 'crash' status.

For the developers out there, I do applaud your efforts, I know dealing
with many hardware types cannot be predicted flawlessly; but, is there
any way I could help you determine the approximate problem? Have you
been able to reproduce this odd little bug? Do you have a suspicious
culprit that can be tested?

[Bug 369875] Re: openafs-client does not recognize openafs-modules-dkms as satisfying dependency

2009-05-20 Thread Mackenzie Morgan
Sarah released that other one. She said that 3.2 (since that one was
3.1) or 4 are both OK ubuntu versions since Karmic has 1.4.10 and Jaunty
has 1.4.9, but that most people go with Security's way of doing things
(so 3.2). Since a context line on that debdiff doesn't match after that
upload (oops) and thus won't apply against the now-uploaded one, here's
yet-another-correction to the Jaunty debdiff.

[Bug 375852] Re: sqllite doesn't support tables with names such as release or savepoint

2009-05-20 Thread jfding
Great work and sorry for my absence (too busy recently).

I noticed this bug has been transfered to sqlite3, but I am very doubt the fix
can resolve the problem of yum.
I have tried yum with all latest updates, it still cannot work.

An interesting thing I noticed: in Ubuntu (including Intrepid and Jaunty), yum
depends on the two pkgs:
 <1> python-sqlite
 <2> python-sqlitecache
 <1> is for sqlite2, and <2> for sqlite3 !
The root cause of the compatibility?

[Bug 367577] Re: mount.crypt needs to pass -s to cryptsetup

2009-05-20 Thread jcfp
Was hit by this one when updating from intrepid. Apparently went fine
until I discovered that in jaunty only one of my encrypted partitions
was being mounted, namely the one with a 256 bit keysize. None of the
others did, took me well into the night fearing all data on those disks
was lost before finding this bug report putting me on track to the
solution.

The patch doesn't appear to work for me though, it does cause a "-s"
parameter to be used but with the wrong bitsize (104 instead of 448).
Manually, everything works again when using the cryptsetup command when
setting the hash parameter to ripemd160 and using the -s options with
the correct keysize.

Overall, this is a severe regression, updating from a perfectly working
system without any useful warning users end up with apparently unusable
encrypted partitions; getting error messages like "mount: you must
specify the filesystem type" suggesting there is no recognisable data on
disk or some kind of severe filesystem corruption. This really needs to
be fixed!

[Bug 378595] [NEW] ulimit -m documentation incorrect

2009-05-20 Thread lesshaste
Public bug reported:

In Hardy, ulimit -m does not (seem to) set a hard limit on the resident
set size. This is documentation bug.

On Hardy:

man bash gives

  -mthe maximum resident set size

On Fedora8:

man bash gives

-m The maximum resident set size (has no effect on Linux)

bash 4 document says: -m The maximum resident set size (many
systems do not honor this limit)

[Bug 378598] [NEW] [needs-packaging] xwii

2009-05-20 Thread Taylor "Ripps" L-Wren
Public bug reported:

XWii is a program to control linux using a Nintendo Wii remote. Much

a script, start_xwii.py, that allows users to autoconfigure xwii to

The command is Xdialog. So all you have to do is adding '--stdout' to
the lines containing the Xdialog command.
Probably you will want to use the output. Since the output stream has now
changed, things referring to the output stream must be changed too.
For instance, the examples have something like 'Xdialog 2>file ...'.
This can be replaced by 'Xdialog >file ...' (redirection of standard out
is the self-evident way).

Kind regards,

suspect that the suspend function is the culprit, so I will turn it of

[Bug 114758] Re: k3b error when writing and verifying DVDs using slimline drive

2009-05-20 Thread Morty
As I read them, bugs 72609 and 114758 are different bugs. 72609 does
not like the fact that k3b ejects the disk between writing and verifying.
114758 is OK with ejecting but has a problem with the subsequent need
for a manual load causing the verify to fail.

It looks like people from each way of thinking have responded to each bug,
which makes this harder to see. But these are two different bugs, reflecting
different approaches.

72609 workaround/solution: disable "eject after burn". Obviously, this does
not work for 114758.

On a fresh installation of Jaunty scim is installed even for English
but it does not seem active. Pressing Ctrl+Space does nothing and I
did not notice any scim panel either.

Neither do I see any tool for switching it on.

[Bug 378559] Re: GPM fails to shut down computer

2009-05-20 Thread Chris Coulson
gnome-power-manager has no involvement with shutting down the machine
(it only initiates suspend/hibernate, currently via HAL in Jaunty). If
you're having issues with any of these, it's not likely to be a g-p-m
issue (especially when the machine stops on "[xxx.xxx] System Halted"

Hello.

I don't care this error message and upgrade my kubuntu from 8.04 to

I try a 'sudo apt-get install kubuntu-kde4-desktop' and now it works

functionnalities I lost with 8.04. A very good point.

I hope it helps

[Bug 378606] [NEW] Jaunty fast then slow out of sync video with stuttering sound

2009-05-20 Thread RdeWit
Public bug reported:

Summary and description blatantly copied (and slightly modified) from
the following discussion:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1146319

===
The symptoms: this happens in mplayer and totem-xine and totem-gstreamer.

1) The video plays slowly with the sound out-of-sync with the picture
2) The video then plays REALLY fast to catch up with the sound
3) The sound stutters for a couple of seconds and then everything is in sync
again for a few minutes
4) repeat from 1

This happens on most videos.
===

I have this problem too after upgrading from Intrepid to Jaunty and
thought that it might have to do with other issues I have with my ATI
RC410 [Radeon Xpress 200M]. It seems that the problem is caused by
something else, possibly by pulseaudio (as suggested by someone in the
mentioned discussion).

This is a fatal error, and the application does exit.

However, I can use the sqlite3 binary to normally open and show tables
of ~/.config/banshee-1/banshee.db. Deleting it doesn't work, either, and
it's recreated again normally.

banshee is at version 1.4.3-3ubuntu2, and mono at version 2.0.1-4.
libmono-sqlite2.0-cil is at 2.0.1-4 too.
