[Bug 264881] Re: iwl3945 not able to associate with kernel 2.6.26 and 2.6.27
Leann, Using kernel 2.6.27-7-generic I am affected by https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/294667 when installing the backport modules, so I am unable with this kernel and backport module version. Using kernel 2.6.27-9-generic the backport modules loads fine, but I cannot associate with my AP as described in comment 1 and onwards of this bug report (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/264881/comments/1). I have done some more testing on my laptop, and made the following observations: - I am unable to associate with my AP using the Intrepid Live CD - iwlist wlan0 scanning never lists my AP (but does list others, using both WEP and WPA encryprtion as well as no encrpytion) - A manual setup using wpasupplicant and /etc/network interfaces for key setup is not successfull - Using my AP, I am also not able to associate using no encryption. With my USB Zydas device my computer connects fine using all 2.6.26 and .27 kernels, but I did notice that after installing linux-backport- modules on 2.6.27-9 I was not able connect with the Zydas device. After removing backport-modules and rebooting I could connect with the Zydas device but not the integrated iwl3945 chipset. [Bug 44942] Re: If one clicks a second link when firefox is opening, they get an error
Hi, 45756 is not an exact duplicate, as it indicates a more general case than just opening from a link. But we can add that to this one, of course: Starting up an instance of Firefox when there's another, non-active instance, will always block, without a way to continue. * Start up two instances from a menu or dock - same effect. * Close down one instance, realise you forgot something, and start a new instance - same effect. Other software may have dialog boxes up that they close again when the reported status changes. It's like FireFox doesn't test for such a change. It seems to note another instance, and then to initiate communications with that instance. From that point on it just sits waiting until it times out. A quick fix would be to add a retry button to the dialog box, so it could be made to check again, and now find either the other instance had disappeared or could actually accept communications. The real fix would probably be to have it recheck the other instance after the time out, and have it retry even after putting up the dialog box. (Not to mention that inter-instances communication ought to be very early on start-up and very late on shut-down.) And considering that this is an error I encounter daily, I'd like to offer the opinion that status LOW is not all that high. (I don't have the time to figure it out, but would some kind soul report that I didn't get this bug listed under my bugreports? Apparently because it only lists bugs you're involved in but doesn't list duplicates. I wasn't directly involved in this one, and 45756, that I reported, is now a duplicate. The result was that neither showed up.) -- If one clicks a second link when firefox is opening, they get an error https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/44942 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 262309] Re: kgrubeditor MIR
I wonder a couple of things on this MIR: - "process apt data": I grepped the source on apt and didn't find anything relevant; is this true? Perhaps a leftover from copying a MIR of another package? - I see the package handles the "DEBIAN AUTOMAGIC KERNELS LIST" block, but it doesn't call update-grub; I suspect it tries to update generated data itself; this doesn't sound right as its current behavior might not be aligned with update-grub's and it might derive even more if we change update-grub (e.g. "last good boot"); what do you think? - Ubuntu uses the "uuid" command in menu.lst on new installs to select the root device; I don't think this command is handled, only "root" seems to be handled - does the tool support GRUB2 in degradated mode, or not at all? Will it support GRUB2? We had discussions about supporting GRUB2 at UDS, and we'd like to offer it as an option during installation on jaunty -- NB: I think it would be good enough if kgrubeditor were to claim that it can't edit GRUB2's configuration when an user running GRUB2 tries to open the config -- kgrubeditor MIR https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/262309 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kgrubeditor in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 262974] Re: [MASTER] networkmanager display connections twice in intrepid
It still sounds a bit radical. Basically dkms is causing an additional add event to be sent for every device in the system. What are the benefits for the user? The disadvantages seem to be clear, as hal's device database is messed up, along with anything that depends on it (in this case, the network manager applet). And this for a situation in which nothing was even added to the system. Perhaps just restarting hal would be good enough? Then its database would be up-to-date. I don't think that hotplug events are absolutely necessary in this case. Alternatively (and more difficult) one could try to work out which devices had changed in sysfs and only trigger event replay for those (although one should probably find some way to get "remove" events for them before the "add" ones get sent). By the way, I did some quick (random) checking, and udevtrigger also messes up the hal database in Ubuntu 8.04, and in Fedora 8. In Fedora 8 it also messes up networking. I really don't think that this command is intended to be used once the system is up and running. -- [MASTER] networkmanager display connections twice in intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/262974 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 295251] Re: Samsung NC10 brightness keys block keyboard and produce all-or-nothing effect
The patch on the kernel bugzilla fixes the key release problem, I know this as I wrote it. It fixes all of the key releases, allowing them to be mapped by HAL correctly. There was mention of it being included in a hotkey file (still can't find the page link) As for the scancodes, there is an attachment on the kernel bugzilla that lists all of the codes that the Fn keys produce. This will be what the hal team are after for the mappings. The list can be found at http://bugzilla.kernel.org/attachment.cgi?id=19300 If I get a chance I will look into the HAL config to see if I can create a quick patch to fix it. It still remains an issue though about unpatched kernels having the correct scancodes, as the keys would repeat to infinity (not a good idea when turning wireless on/off etc) Stuart -- Samsung NC10 brightness keys block keyboard and produce all-or-nothing effect https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/295251 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 309195] Re: linux-backports-modules-jaunty has missing dependency
I can confirm this breaks ath5k wifi on 64-bit jaunty. A workaround is to keep using the 2.6.27 kernel and the intrepid backports modules for that kernel, which have now been marked obsolete in jaunty. -- linux-backports-modules-jaunty has missing dependency https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/309195 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 309303] [NEW] UNR - Italian Keyboard Concoguration on Dell Mini 9
Public bug reported: Keyboard Bugs on Dell Mini 9 with UNR - lpia kernel Fully Updated 8.04 (lpia build). Italian keyboard model with "Invio" written on the enter key. There are a few quirks. I'm probably not selecting the right keyboard model. I have tried all the keyboard models under "Italy" but nothing seems to work. Bug - First the keyboard utility (System > Preferences > Keyboard) does not actually show a keyboard picture. Keyboard Quirks ) is on number 9 but pressing Shift-9 produces ( ( is on number 8 but pressing Shift-8 produces * = is on number 0 but pressing Shift-0 produces ) - has it's own key but pressing it produces / I will include a picture of the keyboard shortly. Any help in setting this up and/or fixing the bug would be appreciated. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- UNR - Italian Keyboard Concoguration on Dell Mini 9 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/309303 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 309302] [NEW] Video and audio out of sync
Public bug reported: > Hi Olivier, > I have problems with gstrreamer when running a http stream . The audio and video are out of sync. Even when i run gst-launch-0.10 -v playbin uri=http://192.168.15.33:8082 from console! I experience the same problem when playing the stream from Totem movie player which uses the GStreamer 0.10.21 lib. This is not an issue when playing movies from files. just the http stream. The http stream works fine from vlc and mplayer, but not in gstreamer. Any suggestion? ** Affects: gstreamer0.10 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Video and audio out of sync https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/309302 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
