[Bug 191479] [NEW] [Regression] iwl3945 debug spew

2008-02-13 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Public bug reported:

The iwl3945 driver has started to spew hundreds of megabytes of kernel
messages into my syslog, kern.log, and debug log files. It seems this
started with the 2.6.24-7-generic kernel (I'll try with an earlier
kernel to see if it occurs there too).

While my laptop is connected to the AP via wifi, the messages appear like this:
...

[Bug 189510] Re: cups dying when idle

2008-02-13 Thread Valois, Pascal
today i found what cause the crash.

each day a 6.25 logrotate runs the daily jobs.
at 7h37, the postscript of the logrotate script for cups is run, and that's
when cups die.

launched manually, the "invoke-rc.d --quiet cupsys force-reload > /dev/null"
makes cups segfault.
a "invoke-rc.d --quiet cupsys restart > /dev/null" does fine.

so the force-reload seems to crash cups in our configuration.

2008-02-13 Thread Murray Cumming
Thanks

those errors.

I guess you mean this:

STATEMENT:  SELECT "glom_system_autoincrements"."next_value" FROM
"glom_system_autoincrements" WHERE "table_name" = '83test' AND
"field_name" = '83test_id'

(glom:6174): glibmm-CRITICAL **:

LINE 1: ...M "glom_system_autoincrements" WHERE "table_name" = '83test'...

HINT: No operator matches the given name and argument type(s). You might need
to add explicit type casts.

I haven't seen that before and I don't understand it yet, but I will switch to
Postgres 8.3 and investigate. Did this only happen with glom 1.6.8? Or was
there another reason that you only packaged 1.6.6 again?

 If you could get the latest libgda 3.0.x and libgdamm versions in
Ubuntu then that would make the picture clearer.

[Bug 152187] Re: Serial Wacom tablet fails to return from ACPI suspend to RAM

2008-02-13 Thread Tom Jaeger
Stefan: Are you still planning on backporting the solution to a gusty
kernel? Because if you are, you might as well apply the current patch.
It's probably the least intrusive patch we are ever going to get. It is
in acpi-test and has both the approval of both the linux acpi maintainer
and the acpi goto-guy. So what if the acpica maintainer thinks it uses
variable names that may be confusing at some point in the future?
That's none of our concern if we're just backporting.

[Bug 191495] [NEW] repeating calendar entry doubles up

2008-02-13 Thread Gernot Hassenpflug
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

In evolution, I wish to enter several identical appointments for the
month, which do not fall cleanly on a particular day of the week: the
exceptions for missing days I note using the exceptions entry method
provided, so that they do not appear, and then I copy an existing
appointment to the non-regular days which do not fit the regular meeting
method that evolution offers. However, the paste operation hangs the
calendar, and it either crashes on its own or I force close it.

When I now look at my appointments in the time/date calendar in the
GNOME panel (top right in Ubuntu Hardy default) I see that the copied
appointments are in fact there, *but* the appointment appears twice
(e.g., two rows saying the same thing). This double-appointment does not
manifest when I open the actual calendar full-screen, nor do I see a way
to edit away the double entry.

I also note that when I change a regular appointment from N entries to
N-1 entries the calendar hangs and the appointment number is not
changed, so I need to remove the individual appointment manually using
the right-mouse menu (delete current appointment instance).

Regards,
  Gernot Hassenpflug

[Bug 191493] [NEW] aticonfig --swap-monitor crashes kicker

2008-02-13 Thread HfX
Public bug reported:

I have a big desktop configured with 2 monitors and a resolution of 3360*1050.
Sometimes the second monitor is on the left instead of the default on the
right. So I use "aticonfig --swap-monitor" to change it quickly. Whenever I do
that something crashes. I think it is kicker.
When I do it directly after logging in to kubuntu kicker will restart
automatically. If i use it later, when a lot of programs are running I manually
have to restart kicker after the aticonfig command.

I don't know, if this is aticonfig related or maybe a bug in kicker or whatever.
My system is up to date with the latest patches.

[Bug 162481] Re: On the wallpaper settings, the remove button should really remove the pictures from the computtr

2008-02-13 Thread Sebastien Bacher
The bug is NOT labeled "delete" but "remove", which implies removing
from the list and not deleting from the disk as you suggest. The empty
trash action is clear, in the current situation it could be confusing
for users, if they added some photos to the backgrounds choices and want
to remove those from the list they should not have to worry about
whether they will be deleted or just not listed in the capplet

[Bug 177869] Re: vmware-server-console broken after 2.2ubuntu2

2008-02-13 Thread Sergio Gómez
I detect a problem in /usr/lib32/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/loader-
files.d/libgtk2.0-0.loaders and in
/usr/lib32/libgdk_pixbuf-2.0.so.0.1200.3 libraries.

These libraries are searching for gtk loaders in
/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/loaders instead of in
/usr/lib32/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/loaders.

I probed this and now vmware-server-console works:

ln -s /usr/lib32 /usr/l32
sed -i -e 's/usr\/lib/usr\/l32/g'
/usr/lib32/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/loader-files.d/libgtk2.0-0.loaders

[Bug 191509] [NEW] Python time.sleep() raises exception in multi-threaded app

2008-02-13 Thread theigel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: python2.5-minimal

Ubuntu 7.10
Python 2.5.1 (r251:54863, Oct  5 2007, 13:36:32)

Sometimes, time.sleep() in python raises "IOError: [Errno 22] Invalid
argument" in multi-threaded app. This exception is similar to what is
raised when sleep()'s argument is non-positive, but it isn't the case. I
believe that it happens (rarely) when in another thread an exception is
raised (even if it's catched later). It happens both when I call sleep()
directly from my code or indirectly from a standard python library (for
example threading.Condition class uses sleep, and the bug reproduces
with it, too).

Here goes the script with which I reproduce this bug (about two or
threee times in ten runs of the script). With the same script at Debian
3.1, python 2.4.1, I can't reproduce the bug (and I believe that it
really doesn't happen there).

#!/usr/bin/python2.5
import threading, time, random, sys

stopped = False

def do_sleep():
while not stopped:
time.sleep(random.random()/1000 + 0.001)

class MyException(Exception):
pass

def do_raise():
while not stopped:
try:
time.sleep(0.01)
raise MyException
except:
pass

sleepers = [threading.Thread(target = do_sleep) for i in range(100)]
raisers = [threading.Thread(target = do_raise) for i in range(100)]

for s in sleepers: s.start()
for s in raisers: s.start()

for i in range(100):
print ',',
sys.stdout.flush()
time.sleep(1)
stopped = True

for s in sleepers: s.join()
for s in raisers: s.join()
print '.'

[Bug 186029] Re: kdm resolution

2008-02-13 Thread aronzak
Interesting development - Kubuntu logged in, with the same problem in KDE
itself.
Krandr gave me only three choices - one was 1400x1050, which was set. Also,
there were only two refresh rate frequency options. Attempting to rectify the
problem, I started to edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf, and found that all of the screen
size options are there.

Restarting the X server, the problem has disappeared, with a normal
resolution screen and all of the options that are listed in
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.

Seems to be to do with KDE's screen size settings settings, which can
affect kdm's login screen.

[Bug 183521] Re: Hardy Heron gnome terminal missing menu bar

2008-02-13 Thread antok.tm
Now here's my latest investigation :
Running gnome-terminal with root privileges doesn't reproduce the bug. So I
guess it's the user's gnome configuration (gconf) that screw everything.

So, really you should remove kpdf from the line #84 too, and add this line
after it:

[Bug 191512] [NEW] gnome displays nfs mounts on the desktop

2008-02-13 Thread Niall Sheridan
Public bug reported:

Every time autofs mounts a new nfs volume, the volume appears on my
desktop and nautilus immediately opens a window. Finding my desktop
swamped with over 50 (and counting) automounted volumes and a nautilus
window for each one is somewhat annoying. There should at least be an
"ignore nfs" option for nautilus/gnome/gvfs/whatever controls this
behaviour.

[Bug 138583] Re: [Gutsy] Kernel Oops after calling synce-serial-start

2008-02-13 Thread jcd
It is a bit desapointing to consider that people using Gusty are doomed
if they try to connect their smartphone as this will never get fixed
(according to your decision). After all this bug triggers an OOPS which
should be considered critical.

Also as things go the fix will not be in the kernel tree before 2.6.25.
Does this mean Hardy (based on 2.6.24) is doomed too?

As a side note the fix (for RNDIS) is now discussed directly on the
linux-usb mailing list.

Other than that this came up.
Gparted crashes in Gutsy each time a USB logical partition('x83') is

300Gb USB drive in ANTEC enclosure. So I don't have to worry about WIN XP when

It would be great if an updated driver would at least make it to Gutsy
