[Bug 69140] Re: The script /etc/init.d/courier-imap-ssl restart does nothing

Version 0.53.3-5ubuntu1 in Feisty works as described in the initial bug
report. You do have to call the init with the full path, but the
guidance I now have is that this is normal.

[Bug 67111] Re: Cyrus linked against db4.4 compiled against 4.3 ?

2007-02-23 Thread Steve Kowalik
Attached is a debdiff for uploading to edgy-proposed. This bug is a
regression from Dapper, and is actually quite nasty. The init script
fires off a master process which spawns off an imapd and/or pop3d
process. They die horribly with a SEGV due to this libdb brain damage,
are immediately re-spawned by the master process, and proceed to die
again. Rinse and repeat.

The debdiff fixes the bug by patching configure (which the Debian build
does anyway) to not include db4.4 in it's list of libdb versions.

[Bug 87310] [Feisty] cannot configure static ip address

2007-02-23 Thread quinnman
Public bug reported:

Feisty on amd64. I was unable to set a static ip address. After booting
the pc, the network manager applet showed some activity and it claimed I
am connected to wired network. But in the informations about connection
there were only zeros (ip, gateway, etc.) I wanted to launch a network
admin, but it crashed. After killing the network manager applet, I was
able to launch the network admin. Wired network was set to roaming (no
idea what it is?). I unchecked roaming and fill in the network static
configuration information, but after quitting network admin and
launching it again all data were lost. Than I manually edited the file
/etc/network/interfaces and added there the needed information. I
launched firefox, but with no luck. Neither after restart, I prevented
network manager from launching, I couldn't connect.

[Bug 85557] Re: AIXGL ATI Mobility Radeon X700 freezes with glxgears, glxinfo reports no rendering, radeon driver used

2007-02-23 Thread Alex Lopez
Hi.
I tested that performance problem happends either i386 and amd64 live CDs. I
found this post: http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-295052.html,
regarding problems with problem fixed on 7.2 xorg version. Anyway I am running
amd64 and testing package is only available for i386.
Do you know if there will be an available package for amd64?

Timo, regarding your comment about ATI model autodetection, I my case
works fine. I have got "ati" on xorg.conf, but radeon is loaded
properly.

Best regards.

[Bug 86606] Re: [feisty]Screen corruption when usplash is enable

2007-02-23 Thread Colin Watson
usplash (0.4-43) feisty; urgency=low

  [ Ben Collins ]
  * Fix two serious bugs in handle_input:
- It was free()ing a stack allocated char array.
- Initialize fifo_outfd to -1 so we can conditionally close() it only
  when it was valid. In the INPUTENTER path, it would close() on an
  uninitialized value in fifo_outfd, causing all sorts of unpredictable
  problems.
  * Do not skip over writing to fifo_outfd in handle_input for INPUTENTER.
Because of this, users of INPUTENTER could not block on the outfd to see
when enter was actually pressed by the user.

  [ Colin Watson ]
  * Fix the init script to shut down usplash even if CONSOLE_SCREEN is empty
(LP: #86606).

Re: [Bug 67111] Re: Cyrus linked against db4.4 compiled against 4.3 ?

2007-02-23 Thread Shuvam
Am a little new to Debian and Ubuntu, hence don't know how
this bugfix process works. Am I reading you right if I conclude
that you are releasing the new, bugfixed version of Cyrus 2.2
only on Fiesty, and the Edgy release will not contain the bug-fix?
If I'm right, I'll have to download the Cyrus source from the Edgy
source archives and apply this Debdiff and recompile?

Please can you confirm/deny?

[Bug 87315] Apt 0.6.46.4ubuntu7 (Feisty) man pages do not document APT::Periodic setting

2007-02-23 Thread Scott Kitterman
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apt

Settings for /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/15adept-periodic-update should be
documented in apt.conf(5).

There are currently no references that I could find in the apt man pages
to the effects of changing the settings for the options listed there:

APT::Periodic::Update-Package-Lists "1";
APT::Periodic::Download-Upgradeable-Packages "0";
APT::Periodic::AutocleanInterval "0";

This blog posting:

http://www.toobusyto.org.uk/tooBusy/archives/2006/04/26/automatic-apt-
ing-in-debian/

was the only reference I could find to settings for APT::Periodic
::Download-Upgradeable-Packages

Based on that, the first two items are booleans and the third is the
interval in days. apt.conf(5) should say that.

[Bug 87317] Screensaver just detects idle time on one screen

2007-02-23 Thread Anders
Public bug reported:

I've got a dual screen setup (running Nvidia's drivers and two monitors
off one graphics card). When I work on one screen exclusively for the
screensaver timeout amount of time, the screensaver starts dimming the
screen regardless. Quick fix is to move mouse onto the other screen,
which instantly stops the dimming and resets the 'countdown'. Surely the
screensaver or whatever algorithm detecting idle time should be able to
detect activities on whatever is the 'non primary' screen?

[Bug 87318] Apt 0.6.45ubuntu14.2 (Fesity) APT::Periodic::Download-Upgradeable-Packages setting not honored

2007-02-23 Thread Scott Kitterman
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apt

Although apparently not documented (see Bug #87315), it appears that the
default APT::Periodic::Download-Upgradeable-Packages setting in
/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/15adept-periodic-update:

APT::Periodic::Download-Upgradeable-Packages "0";

should cause upgradeable packages not to be downloaded and yet they are
downloaded.

Steps to reproduce:

1.  Install Feisty
2. Wait for periodic new package detection to detect new packages
3. Watch hard drive suddenly start to thrash for no apparent reason
4. Note new package indicator in the GUI (Adept in my case)
5. Install new packages and notice they have already been downloaded.
6. Inspect /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/15adept-periodic-update and discover that
APT::Periodic::Download-Upgradeable-Packages "0";

[Bug 84448] Re: Theme Manager in Ubuntu Not Working-Hanging

2007-02-23 Thread Sebastien Bacher
The ubuntu-desktop install packages for the Ubuntu desktop, it doesn't
remove kubuntu if installed. That crash looks like another bug from the
gtk2-engines-gtk-qt package which is something used by kubuntu to make
GTK applications looking like KDE

[Bug 87319] Beryl-core/Gnome froze at sudo login screen opening network settings

2007-02-23 Thread Andrew Stabeno
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

This only happened once. I went to System --> Administration -->
Networking. And Gnome seemed to lock up. The cursor was still active
but the rest of Gnome froze. I restarted Gnome and it restored the
system and everything ran fine. The crash report says it is Beryl-Core.

Simone: hinting is different in feisty and dapper due to kde change.
Just change hinting in your profile to "high", which is now the new kubuntu
default.

[Bug 86338] Re: Crash on submitting forum reply (AnandTech)

2007-02-23 Thread Robor
Hello Alexander... Sorry for the delayed reply here. I am still
experiencing the crashing here but because I've been busy at work (where
the system with the crashing is occuring) I haven't been posting as much
so I don't have much new info to offer. I will try to upload that crash
report file again when I submit this.

Hi xtknight: I am running the x386 32-bit Ubuntu on an IBM T42. My
Firefox version is just the default that comes with it. I do have some
add-ons installed and I do have flash installed as well. My symptoms
are the same as yours. I submit a post or send a PM and the window I
submitted disappears. The main window which should reload freezes. By
that I mean I can't interact with it if it's focused. If it's in the
background I can't click on it in the panel or alt-tab to it. Shortly
after that it disappears. If I have multiple Firefox windows or tabs
open they all crash. Only 2 times has it given me the option to report
the crash. My session also remains saved.

[Bug 70178] Re: Isn't recognized by RadRails

2007-02-23 Thread Aldous D . Peñaranda
Hi,

rubygems is only available as a .deb in Feisty. For Edgy (6.10) and
lower, you can try installing rubygems manually.

It's not that Ubuntu is unwilling to use rubygems, it's probably just
because it's only recently that it was made available in Debian and
synced in Ubuntu.

I hope this helps.

[Bug 76659] Re: Ruby crash with libxml

2007-02-23 Thread Aldous D . Peñaranda

Sourcepackagename: ruby1.8 => libxml-ruby
