INTRODUCTION
=

The biennial International Conference on Cybernetics (CYBCONF) provides a
premier international forum for researchers and practitioners to report the
latest innovations, summarize the state-of-the-art, and exchange ideas and
advances in all aspects of Cybernetics. Apart of the main track it includes
special sessions and plenary talks by invited eminent speakers.

CYBCONF-2017 is organized by University of Exeter, sponsored by IEEE
Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society (SMC), and supported by IEEE SMC
Technical Committees on Cybermatics for Cyber-enabled Worlds, Awareness
Computing, Intelligent Industrial Systems; and Distributed Intelligent
Systems. CYBCONF-2017 will be hosted in Exeter, the capital city of Devon
and provides the county with a central base for education, medicine,
religion, commerce and culture. The city is also home to the magnificent
Exeter Cathedral, which dates back to Norman times. Exeter is also ideally
placed to base a trip to branch out visiting places such as the famous
Dartmoor National Park and the unspoilt beaches of the North and South
Devon coastlines.

Prospective authors are invited to submit their papers to CYBCONF-2017.
Accepted papers will appear in the conference proceedings, available on
IEEE Xplore and submitted to be indexed in CPCi (ISI conferences and part
of Web of Science) and Engineering Index (EI). The authors of selected best
papers will be invited post conference to extend their contributions for
special issues of prestigious journals, such as IEEE Transactions on
Cybernetics
, IEEE SMC
Magazine, Evolving Systems, and Peer-to-Peer Networking and Applications
(PPNA).

[UAI] Extended dealine: Fusion 2017: special session on belief functions

2017-03-17 Thread Arnaud Martin

*** sorry if cross-posting ***

The 20^th International Conference on Information Fusion (FUSION 2017)
will be held in Xi’an, China at the Wyndham Hotel on *July 10–13, 2017*.

For updated information, please visit the official website:
http://www.fusion2017.org

We propose a special session on Big data information fusion with the
theory of belief functions.

*Description:* Big data has gained become a hotspot in both theoretical
research and real applications in the latest 10 years due to the rapid
expansion of the massive amount of data that is available for solving
different tasks within many different application domains. Big data is
so large or complex that traditional data processing applications are
inadequate to deal with them. One significant aspect is the uncertainty
incorporated in the Big data.

The theory of belief function is a powerful tool for uncertainty
modeling and reasoning, which is expected to provide effective solutions
for the Big data processing and analyses in information fusion related
applications. Therefore, we propose to organize such a special session
including the subtopics as follows:

- Belief function based analysis of complex networks
- Belief function based decision making
- Belief function based clustering analysis
- Belief function based pattern classification
- Belief function based feature selection/extraction
- Other topics in belief function based applications in information fusion

*Important Dates:***
- Full paper submission deadline: March 22, 2017
- Notification of acceptance: 1 May, 2017

*
**Submission:*
Authors submitting to a special session need to delay their submission
until the special sessions are available.

[UAI] ICML 2017 Call for Workshop Proposals (Deadline Extended)

2017-03-17 Thread Jingrui He
ICML 2017 Call for Workshop Proposals

The International Conference on Machine Learning solicits proposals for
workshops to be held in conjunction with the ICML 2017 conference in
Sydney. The workshops will be held on Aug 10 - 11, 2017.

ICML workshops are a great opportunity for exciting and focused scientific
exchange on emerging and futuristic research topics. We welcome proposals
for both one full-day or two-day workshops. We also especially encourage
workshops that are coordinated with ICML 2017 tutorials such that both
background and state-of-the-art research naturally flow through the ICML
conference period. Note that UAI 2017 will occur during Aug 11-Aug15, 2017,
overlapping with ICML by one day (Aug 11 2017), in the same conference
venue.
Dates

   - Workshop proposal deadline: March 24 2017 5pm PT
   - Acceptance notification: April 21 2017 5pm PT
   - Workshop submissions due: May 26 2017
   - Workshop author notification: June 16 2017

Content and Format

Workshops are great forums for active research topics and for works in
progress. An ideal workshop covers a compelling selection of current and
upcoming research, and includes an impressive set of speakers and
participants from diverse backgrounds. Invited and contributed talks,
discussion via panels and attendees, identification of open problems and
poster presentations are all great components to include.
Organization

The format, style, and content of accepted workshops are under the control
of the workshop organizers and are largely autonomous from the main
conference. Each workshop day can be up to seven hours long, split into
morning and afternoon sessions. Workshop organizers are expected to manage
the workshop content, invite experts in the domain, specify the workshop
format, be present to moderate, and maintain a website for the workshop.
Workshop registration will be handled centrally by the main conference.
Note that invited speakers and workshop organizers should not expect
receiving financial support from the ICML 2017 to cover their travel,
lodging, and other types of expenses.
Submission Instructions

   - Create accounts at
https://2017.icml.cc for you and all your
   organizers
   - Proposals should clearly specify the following:
   - Workshop title
   - A brief abstract describing what the workshop is about.
   - Main organizers’ emails (who should we get in touch with?)
   - The format of the workshop including a breakdown of the time allocated
for questions, discussions, breaks, poster sessions, and panels
   - Proposed speakers
   - Bibliographic references (where can we learn more?)
   - All workshops will be one day
   - Organizer and co-organizers info and bios (who is making it happen?)
   - Tentative Website URL
   - Comments on:
  - Workshop history (is this the first edition of the workshop?)
  - Related ICML 2017 tutorials (is this workshop coordinated with
  an ICML 2017 tutorial?)
  - Funding status (is funding secured for this event?)

Detailed descriptions of last year’s workshops can be found at:
http://icml.cc/2016/?page_id=1519
and for ICML 2015 http://icml.cc/2015/?page_id=95
Submission Process

Workshop proposals should be submitted at /Workshops/workshopapplication
. If figures, Latex or
other supplemental information are nessary for review of the application,
please create a home page for your workshop and post the supplemental files
there. List your home page in the External URL field of the application
and note that you have figures available in the Comments field. Latex will
not necessarily be available in the online schedule, so it is recommended
to avoid them in the Title and Abstract.
Acceptance decision

Proposals will be evaluated by the workshop chairs and conference
organizers, with an eye towards selecting high-quality workshops on a
diverse set of topics that will inform and inspire the community.
