[Touch-packages] [Bug 1700347] Re: [XPS 15 9560] Headphones stopped working but temporary fixed it on a strange way
Seems like it's not always detected the audio device plugged in the headphone jack. It's not showing up in `pacmd list-sinks`. However I'm not sure if this is the same thing what happen before. This seems more like a more common issue were a few people already reported bugs for, which i'm going to look into now. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1575078 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1583801 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to pulseaudio in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1700347 Title: [XPS 15 9560] Headphones stopped working but temporary fixed it on a strange way Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Something strange is happening once in a while, I just boot my laptop, login like I always do and boot my sound system when ubuntu starts up or after logging in. The sound system is connected via a headphone jack cable and sometimes I use my headphones instead of my sound system. So today it happen again. I couldn't get music playing over my sound system, there was only a small bit of noise, less then when the cable isn't plugged in at all. Anyway eventually I managed to fix it but this is what I tried first: - `sudo alsa force-reload` - `sudo pulseaudio -k` - `pulseaudio -k` - Turned everything on in `alsamixer` - Rebooted my laptop once Most of the time the fix can be done from the GUI of "All Settings > Sound". Sometimes I have to swap between Input back and forth but this time I had to unmute "Alert volume" in the "Sound Effects" tab. Honestly I think there is something wrong with how the program interacts with the user. When the user interacts with the program it is not able to execute tasks as expected. Basically it looks like there is high coupling and/or low cohesion. Gustavo, I am not reporting a bug, the bug has been reported, I am replying to it. It is the same bug, for ubuntu, xubuntu, lubuntu As far as I can tell the Icon Set that I uploaded can be used by all versions, so it is as helpful here as it would be at Lubuntu. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1355137] Re: gtk2 theme version improvements for high-dpi screens
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1687246 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1687246 I think the duplicate is assigned incorrectly as this ticket is specifically about gtk2, and that one is gtk3. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to ubuntu-themes in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1355137 Title: gtk2 theme version improvements for high-dpi screens Status in ubuntu-themes package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: GTK2 applications are still widespread and the lack of resolution independence poses significant usability problems, for example for clicking radio buttons or checkboxes. By editing the gtkrc file one can at least mitigate a majority of issues. By doubling dimensions (like widths, heights, not border- widths), the following controls can be made usable: radio buttons, checkboxes, scrollbars, expand/collapse triangles in trees. While this is nothing like complete high-dpi support, still a significant partial improvement can be achieved. Users of high-dpi screens should not have to suffer under the current default, or have to patch the theme manually. It would be good to implement a way that when the scaling factor is >= 2.0, as many GTK 2 widgets as possible are rendered with larger dimensions, be it by theme engine or by switching the theme. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1710510] [NEW] lightdm callbacks session-setup-script and session-cleanup-script called at unexpected occasions
Public bug reported: I'm using Gnome together with LightDM and am trying to get my background slideshow controlled properly. Unfortunately, this is something several people seem to have tried before, and even with Ubuntu 16.04LTS it seems to be something that is quite difficult to accomplish. I've added hooks in /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf for the two events session-setup-script and session-cleanup-script. Now it turns out that session-setup-script is called properly when I first log on with lightdm. When I log out, session-cleanup-script is invoked. However, each time the session is locked (I needed to install light-locker for a secure screen lock for the lightdm/gnome combination which is a story of its own...) and then unlocked again, upon unnnlocking the session- cleanup-script callback hook is invoked, too. I can't see why this should be the case and consider this a bug. It makes it impossible for me right now to distinguish between an unlock (where at best I'd like to ensure that the desktop background slideshow is running) and a logout scenario where I'd like to stop the slideshow for good. Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks a bunch. However, each time the session is locked (I needed to install light-locker for a secure screen lock for the lightdm/gnome combination which is a story of its own...) and then unlocked again, upon unnnlocking the session-cleanup-script callback hook is invoked, too. I am getting similar behaviour on 17.10. If I unplug my line out and plug it in again it works fine. In Windows 10 this unplug and replug is not required (the jack is fine). [Touch-packages] [Bug 1355137] Re: gtk2 theme version improvements for high-dpi screens
If the above patches are from January 2015 then they likely need refreshing for a more current release. They would need to work in 17.10, and also need to be designed so as to not affect low DPI users. Please review/update your patches for Ubuntu 17.10, and when done set the status here back to confirmed. ** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 1687246 GNOME Shell should support fractional (non-integer) Hi-DPI scaling ** Changed in: ubuntu-themes (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to ubuntu-themes in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1355137 Title: gtk2 theme version improvements for high-dpi screens Status in ubuntu-themes package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: GTK2 applications are still widespread and the lack of resolution independence poses significant usability problems, for example for clicking radio buttons or checkboxes. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1681513] Re: Ubuntu 17.04/17.10: New feature in NetworkManager stops several WiFi adapters from working (MAC Address Randomization issue)
Same problem on Asus EEEpc1001px with an Aetheros Ar2427 card -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1681513 Title: Ubuntu 17.04/17.10: New feature in NetworkManager stops several WiFi adapters from working (MAC Address Randomization issue) Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: According to https://blogs.gnome.org/thaller/2016/08/26/mac-address-spoofing-in-networkmanager-1-4-0/ there is a new privacy feature in the new version of NetworkManager. This privacy feature can cause some USB WiFi adapters to stop working while they used to work with older versions of NetworkManager (Ubuntu 16.10 or older). The purpose of this privacy feature is to get your computer to report a new random MAC address whenever you connect to a WiFi network. This privacy feature is especially useful when you connect to public WiFi networks, so that the operators cannot identify you when you connect multiple times. The downside of this privacy feature is that some USB WiFi adapters misbehave when NetworkManager tries to change their MAC address repeatedly. The result is that those USB WiFi adapters cannot connect anymore to the WiFi network. Original report follows: My Panda USB wi-fi adapter works just fine on 16.10, but when I try to connect to my wi-fi router in 17.04, GNOME network manager reports "Connection failed." I did some tinkering, and noticed that my MAC address for my wifi adapter, according to GNOME, is DIFFERENT every time I make it forget my wifi settings and try to reconnect. Weird, right? Any leads on a possible fix or work-around? I'm running the latest beta of Ubuntu GNOME 17.04, kernel 4.10.0-19-generic, GNOME 3.24.0. https://blogs.gnome.org/thaller/2016/08/26/mac-address-spoofing-in- networkmanager-1-4-0/ To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1681513/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

This will likely resolve your issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a memory test. Thanks in advance! I apologize if it reached you inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.] ** Tags added: corrupted-package ** Changed in: gst-plugins-base1.0 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to gst-plugins-base1.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1710524 Title: package gstreamer1.0-plugins-base 1.2.4-1~ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: cannot copy extracted data for './usr/lib/i386-linux- gnu/gstreamer-1.0/libgstogg.so' to '/usr/lib/i386-linux- gnu/gstreamer-1.0/libgstogg.so.dpkg-new': unexpected end of file or stream Status in gst-plugins-base1.0 package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: package gstreamer1.0-plugins-base 1.2.4-1~ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: cannot copy extracted data for './usr/lib/i386-linux- gnu/gstreamer-1.0/libgstogg.so' to '/usr/lib/i386-linux- gnu/gstreamer-1.0/libgstogg.so.dpkg-new': unexpected end of file or stream ProblemType: Package DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: gstreamer1.0-plugins-base 1.2.4-1~ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-32.57-generic 3.13.11.4 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-32-generic i686 ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.2 Architecture: i386 Date: Sun Aug 13 17:45:52 2017 DuplicateSignature: package:gstreamer1.0-plugins-base:1.2.4-1~ubuntu1:cannot copy extracted data for './usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/gstreamer-1.0/libgstogg.so' to '/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/gstreamer-1.0/libgstogg.so.dpkg-new': unexpected end of file or stream ErrorMessage: cannot copy extracted data for './usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/gstreamer-1.0/libgstogg.so' to '/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/gstreamer-1.0/libgstogg.so.dpkg-new': unexpected end of file or stream InstallationDate: Installed on 2017-08-14 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS "Trusty Tahr" - Release i386 (20140722.2) SourcePackage: gst-plugins-base1.0 Title: package gstreamer1.0-plugins-base 1.2.4-1~ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: cannot copy extracted data for './usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/gstreamer-1.0/libgstogg.so' to '/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/gstreamer-1.0/libgstogg.so.dpkg-new': unexpected end of file or stream UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to trusty on 2017-08-14 (0 days ago) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gst-plugins-base1.0/+bug/1710524/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Touch-packages] [Bug 839157] Re: Bluetooth applet (OBEX send/browse) does not work since Natty (after bluetoothd 4.84 exactly)
** Attachment removed: "13882650E77CD1D8.jpg" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/+bug/839157/+attachment/4924174/+files/13882650E77CD1D8.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to bluez in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/839157 Title: Bluetooth applet (OBEX send/browse) does not work since Natty (after bluetoothd 4.84 exactly) Status in bluez package in Ubuntu: Expired Status in gnome-bluetooth package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: I have Ubuntu Natty 11.04 and a Nokia N81 (Symbian S60v3.1). In Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid) and 10.10 (Maverick) bluetooth file transfers do work fast and stable on my hardware. Since Natty it stopped working all together! UPDATE 26-2-2012: everything works again if the executable /usr/sbin/bluetoothd (4.91 in Natty) is replaced with 4.84 or earlier. I verified this workaround on several machines and with the Live-CD of Natty. Precise alpha 2 is affected too. (see also my comment 30 below) The attachment shows the output of "sudo hcidump -XYt" when browsing fails (bluetooth-applet - menu - - Browse files...)
