[Touch-packages] [Bug 1706936] Re: Wrong version of libgles1-mesa in Xenial-updates

2017-07-29 Thread Timo Aaltonen
there is no libgles1-mesa for the new mesa, you need to fix your (ppa?)
build of vlc to not use that, the stock xenial version was updated
already

Title:
Wrong version of libgles1-mesa in Xenial-updates

Status in mesa package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Xenial-updates has the following packages:

  - libgles1-mesa (12.0.6-0ubuntu0.16.04.1)
  - libglapi-mesa (17.0.7-0ubuntu0.16.04.1)

The first one depends on libglapi-mesa (= 12.0.6-0ubuntu0.16.04.1),
but libglapi-mesa has a higher version and so there's a conflict.

I've had to remove libgles1-mesa for now, to avoid the conflict.

I have Linux Mint 18.1 but I believe it affects anyone using xenial-
  updates.

Source links I used to verify it's a xenial-updates problem:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1707354] [NEW] webbrowser-app freezes on startup, then crashes

2017-07-29 Thread Justas
Public bug reported:

Started 1-3 days ago just after automatic ubuntu updates. Since then

crashes, or does not appear at all but still hangs the system.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 199660] Re: CD-image naming scheme

2017-07-29 Thread era
Marking this as "Opinion" seems misdirected. If you download a number of
images to decide which flavor you like, it is cumbersome and potentially
confusing if they all have the same name. Some download managers will
overwrite the previous download, others will generate a completely
random, nondescript name. There are obvious workarounds for these
problems but the use case for fixing this issue is quite real.

  Binary package hint: ubuntu-desktop

All the cd images are named the same, regardless of product, and
regardless of release. For example currently, kubuntu releases are all
labelled "hardy-desktop-i386" etc, with no distinction between kubunt
and ubuntu, nor minor releases. The only thing that changes is the
major release (gutsy, hardy, etc.), the CD type
(live/alternate/server), and the build type (i386, generic, amd64,
  etc).

Please use a more descriptive CD image naming scheme. Perhaps something like:
  [Distro]-[Major release]-[Minor release]-[CD type]-[Build type].iso

This would result in much more useful filenames, such as:
  kubuntu-hardy-daily080307-desktop-i386.iso, or
  xubuntu-hardy-alpha6-alternate-amd64.iso

(sorry about the package chosen for this wishlist item, I couldn't
  find anything more suitable)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1690980] Re: unattended-upgrades does not block shutdown of system, as it is designed to

2017-07-29 Thread Julian Andres Klode
Downloads happen in a different service, so WiFi or not should not
matter. The TERM signal is sent immediately anyway; after that,
unattended-upgrades stops the upgrade. unattended-upgrade splits updates
into small dpkg runs and that is what we are worrying about - not the
time for a complete upgrade.

Re inhibitor: unattended-upgrades should not inhibit shutdown generally.
It should however do the inhibit thing per "transaction", if you know
what I mean. This requires communicating with systemd via dbus I
suppose.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1547927] Re: LDAP_OPT_X_TLS_REQUIRE_CERT handling differences between ldaps:// and STARTTLS

Hi,

There's a lot more detail on the bug report on the openldap site,
including some replication steps:
http://www.openldap.org/its/index.cgi/Incoming?id=8374#followup7

I've just tried again, and it still doesn't work as expected on xenial
with the latest packages installed.

The connection for start_tls always succeeds when it should fail.

This mesa update brings me seriousley into trouble because I seems to me
that the now missing libgles1-mesa runs Blender into an error at program
start!

Received X11 Error:

minor code: 4
error text: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)
Error! Blender requires OpenGL 2.1 to run. Try updating your drivers.

framercy@helios ~/bin/blender-2.78c-linux-glibc219-x86_64 $ glxinfo
name of display: :0.0
X Error of failed request: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)
Major opcode of failed request: 155 (NV-GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 4 ()
Resource id in failed request: 0x523
Serial number of failed request: 37
Current serial number in output stream: 37

I use Linux Mint 18.1 Mate 64bit and all things worked fine until the
mesa update!

I make my money with Blender so a fast solution would be very nice.

I have Linux Mint 18.1 but I believe it affects anyone using xenial-
  updates.

Source links I used to verify it's a xenial-updates problem:

  https://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial-updates/libs/libgles1-mesa
  https://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial-updates/libglapi-mesa

[Touch-packages] [Bug 199660] Re: CD-image naming scheme

far as I know. Reverting.

Title:
  CD-image naming scheme

Status in Ubuntu CD Images:
  New
Status in ubuntu-meta package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: ubuntu-desktop

All the cd images are named the same, regardless of product, and
regardless of release. For example currently, kubuntu releases are all
labelled "hardy-desktop-i386" etc, with no distinction between kubunt
and ubuntu, nor minor releases. The only thing that changes is the
major release (gutsy, hardy, etc.), the CD type
(live/alternate/server), and the build type (i386, generic, amd64,
  etc).

Please use a more descriptive CD image naming scheme. Perhaps something like:
  [Distro]-[Major release]-[Minor release]-[CD type]-[Build type].iso

This would result in much more useful filenames, such as:
  kubuntu-hardy-daily080307-desktop-i386.iso, or
  xubuntu-hardy-alpha6-alternate-amd64.iso

(sorry about the package chosen for this wishlist item, I couldn't
  find anything more suitable)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1707394] [NEW] DVI-I being read as DVI-D and i have no picture

2017-07-29 Thread Lakner Máté
Public bug reported:

Hi!

I'm using Radeon R9 380X graphics card with two monitors. Before
installing the radeon drivers, each of the monitors work properly. But
after this, the DVI-D output is being read as DVI-I, and monitor
attached to this port says "No signal". It only has a d-sub VGA input.
The other monitors works fine.

Here are the outputs of the xrandr command:

The ping is taking 100% CPU. After I killed the process, one can see
that the command line was a plain "ping 192.168.25.96"

I have also seen this going on with Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS fully patched. I
use something like ((ping -i 60 -B [address] >& /dev/null )&)& as a poor
man's keepalive, and it jumps systematically to 100% CPU after one or
two days.

Long-running ping command leads to 100% CPU usage

Status in iputils package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Since I've updated my laptop to Ubuntu MATE 17.04, I notice ping
sometimes gets into a runaway mode.

I'm on a shaky Wi-Fi so to monitor connectivity I usually have a long
running ping command against google's DNS server:

  > ping -s16 8.8.4.4

Often, after leaving it for a while, I notice screaming vents and htop
then shows the ping process consuming 100% of one CPU. It will stay
like that until ping is killed.

I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this issue, can someone recommend a
  protocol?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1706936] Re: Wrong version of libgles1-mesa in Xenial-updates

2017-07-29 Thread Frank Schwarz
After uninstalling the original NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-378.13 driver and
replacing it with nvidia-graphics-drivers-384.59 from repository ppa
:graphics-drivers the problem with Blender is solved for me.

Initially I had to use original Nvidia driver because at this time there
wasn't a suitable driver for the GTX 1080TI graphic card in the
repositories.

Wrong version of libgles1-mesa in Xenial-updates

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1707392] Re: nm-applet not shown

2017-07-29 Thread fossfreedom
Things to check.

1. make sure that the system-tray applet is still in the panel (open
raven - budgie settings - panel)

2. look at /etc/xdg/autostart/budgie-desktop-nm-applet.desktop. The
exec= line should read nm-applet --no-indicator

3. look at /etc/xdg/autostart - if you see the file budgie-desktop-nm-
applet2.desktop then delete that

"I dived into the code for debugging the issue a little bit. The

which is in g_slist_find_custom(servers, adapter, adapter_cmp)[called from
find_uuid16_avail()/find_uuid128_avail()].
I noticed there is the call: **btd_adapter_gatt_server_start**(struct
btd_adapter *adapter)to be used to add a server into the servers glist. But the
weird thing is no where it gets called through the whole bluez source code tree.

So shall I call btd_adapter_gatt_server_start() somewhere in my code? or any
other steps I should do to resolve the issue?
thanks!"

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1577738] Re: pm-utils does not write pm-suspend.log file

2017-07-29 Thread Kevin
** Changed in: pm-utils (Ubuntu)
   Status: Confirmed => Fix Released

--
You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1577738

Title:
pm-utils does not write pm-suspend.log file

Status in pm-utils package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Hello,

I hope I'm filing this information the proper way and I thank you for
  reading it.

  1) Kubuntu 16.04
  2) pm-utils 1.4.1-16

  3) As far as the info I could find, the package "pm-utils" is supposed
to write log files in /var/log, such as "pm-suspend.log". These log
files, as you know, help troubleshoot hibernate/resume issues.

I happen to have one issue with hooks that don't run on resume, that
do run prior to hibernate when I run them manually and don't after
resume when I run them the same manual way. (different issue than this
  bug report)

  4) Therefore I need to scan through pm-suspeng.log file, but the file
is not created on my machine, anywhere on the HDD.

I have added my user to the "systemd-journal", "root" and "sudo"
groups, in case that could help, I still don't see the log file.

With previous Kubuntu versions (13.10 and others before, didn't try
between 13.10 and 16.04), this log file was created right away.

After searching and trying things out, I'm leaning towards the
possibility of a bug, which is the reason why I am posting here.

I do not know what other information to provide.

  Thank you

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1574667] Re: Mouse pointer occasionally jumps to the bottom-left corner

2017-07-29 Thread Peter
The solution proposed by Juan Hernandez (message 32) worked for me. I am
running Xubuntu 16.04 on a Dell Inspiron 3542. I finally decided to look
for a fix after successfully using a wireless mouse for some time. I did
not have to modify /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/90-libinput.conf as some
others did.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1690980] Re: unattended-upgrades does not block shutdown of system, as it is designed to

2017-07-29 Thread Balint Reczey
@Julian: When running u-u at shutdown the expectation is that it runs to
completion including the downloads (started by u-u-s).

When running in periodic mode triggered by apt's timer it finishes the
transaction on TERM signal then it exits to let the shutdown continue.
In this case you are right it does not perform the download and
installation steps in the same service. In apt-daily-upgrade's case the
900 second is probably future-proof unless the machine/disk is very
slow.

There are still installer packages which need downloads even during
installation, but they are not updated very often.
